as someone with MANAGED bipolar 2 disorder, this screams mania to me. it’s extreme highs and extreme lows. her talking about how can she be depressed with all those things out there exist, etc.-I did all that. but a week later, I was at rock bottom and thought there wouldn’t be a me anymore. hobbies don’t fix chemical imbalances. help does.

Same here with the bipolar.. However, what she said about depression really bothered me. If it was that easy then a lot of people would still be alive. Also a lot of people can't afford to go do all that stuff. I have 2 kids which i love dearly, but it sucks bc i don't have a lot of time to *get a hobby*. She basically is telling people with depression to *get a life* It's kinda offensive. My oldest is almost 2 and my other one is 4 months. my husband and I don't have much free time. but we ar trying to teach our babies to have hobbies and that does help. Agreed, but I don't think someone pointing out that life is more fulfilling when you have hobbies is cause to crawl up their ass about privilege, it's certainly more difficult to have free time let alone something to do with it when you lack resources but she never said it was easy having hobbies or that anyone can live the way she does. All she said was its good to have hobbies and people jumped down her throat and reenforced the delusional narrative that she is never the problem and it's all people starting drama for no reason. People are constantly telling this person to stop playing the victim and then they choose to call her out over nothing and accuse her of things she didn't do or say, essentially making her the victim.
@gracer93162 жыл бұрын
I don’t think all hobbies need to be expensive, drawing can happen without anything but a pen and paper and watching youtube videos, yoga can be done following free tutorials in your home on a towel. lol i mean if you look into it, its not a “literal” addiction. Addictive drugs rewire your brain to have a dependency, weed however is not an addictive substance. It is stimulating the part of your brain that responds to pleasure, which you can develop a dependency on, but not addiction. Like if you quit weed you arent going to have severe physical and mental withdrawal symptoms. Most likely if you’re a frequent user you would just be irritated for a week or so.
@idellekell2 жыл бұрын
@@haileyfields7179 Any repeated behavior re-wires the brain. That's what the brain does. It's called neuroplasticity. Weed can absolutely do that as well. It also can be reversed if you change your habit. Not all drugs create intense physical withdrawal, it's true. Opiods and alcohol in particular can be tough. But just like weed, if you can manage to stop alcohol/opiods, the withdrawal symptoms will ease after just a week or 2. There is a lot of literature that refutes the idea that addiction is a disease. Because if you look at the medical definition of what constitutes a "disease", addiction does not fulfill any of the criteria. It's much more useful to think of it as a symptom of some other mental ailment, like anxiety, depression or ADHD. Understanding this has helped me a lot in my recovery. I'm just in the process of re-wiring my brain as we speak! No surgery or medication required! Just a change of behavior and medication for a anxiety disorder.

The filters did kind of kill it though 😂😂😂 LMFAO!!!

What does it mean to be called campy? Definition of campy : in the style of camp : absurdly exaggerated, artificial, or affected in a usually humorous way campy horror movies campy humor Witnessing their synchronized routine, he almost expects them to break into some campy chorus line from one of the seedier nightclubs.-

I guess maybe the definition of camp has changed over time lol. I'm in my 40s, and for us, camp meant like disco fashion and that kinda thing. I guess now it's more like 80s/90s style lol

Does gabbie hannah not understand that people with severe depression can't just rely on hobbies to keep them alive? Motivation disappears and nothing is pleasurable anymore. Hobbies are not going to help with that. Now, when you get help and start to get a little better hobbies can be nice, but for sure don't try to say that hobbies are the key to happiness.

As a disabled person I need to talk about the ableist thing. I want to make this very clear: responding to “it’s harder for disabled people to follow our dreams” with “what ab these few successful disabled people” is inspiration porn, and is harmful. That kind of shit says that disabled people are defined by our ability to be successful. I can’t do actual school because of my mental disability (in person is too over stimulating and stressful, and I don’t have the executive functioning skills to push myself in online school. So according to that kind of harmful thinking, I’m not as worthy of a human fucking being as a successful disabled person. Disabled people have so many struggles that constantly face us and saying “oh but this person is successful and is disabled” is disregarding our struggles and throwing them out the window. That is ableist and I’m sick of influencers being able to get away with ableist shit.

Part of your responsibility as a person is to learn how to manage the obstacles in front of you. It’s your job to figure out how to educate yourself in a way that works, at least get a ged. Your comment alone indicates you’re capable. I have adhd, ptsd, and I’m on the autism spectrum and I too dropped out of high school but I figured it out, got a GED soon after, and now I’m a lead preschool teacher and thinking about my first degree at 26. I’m not being ableist when I say this because I can tell I’m no more naturally able than you are if your reasons are being overwhelmed in school and lacking the ability to make yourself do it at home. I’m being honest; this has nothing to do with your mental health issues and everything to do with your unwillingness to either get help or buckle down on your own goals. It’s 100% not ableist to think that people with mental health issues are capable of finishing school. If not, get a job that doesn’t require a diploma and show up.

It’s a lot of people out here claiming the “disabled” title without doing ANYTHING to manage mental health issues that you can find great relief from with medication and therapy
@courtneyrobinson38922 жыл бұрын
@@FairyQueenIvy obviously we have to learn how to manage our disabilities. That’s what I’m currently trying to do. What my comment is talking about is inspiration porn and the attitude that disabled people are only worthy if you do something incredible and completely dismisses struggles. To say that I’m not trying to help myself when you don’t even know who I am is cruel. I am doing all I can, but that doesn’t mean I can do much. It’s not ableist to not be able to do something, that’s not at all what I said
