St. Padre Pio (20th Century) - "Do you not know that dancing is an invitation to sin?"
St. Anthony Mary Claret (19th Century) - "The Devil invented balls for girls to be lost, and extended them throughout the world like an immense net in order to catch the young people and submit them to his tyrannical domination."
St. Charles Borromeo (16th century) - "The dance is a circle whose center is the Devil and his cohorts constitute the circumference, since very rarely or almost never does one dance without sin."

I was once a lost sheep, I get into clubs and dance the night away. Months later my club friends just disappeared, I knew it was God and Mother Mary's plan to keep me away from those vanity and worldly things. Now I'm in Church everyday and reciting the Holy Rosary Everyday, I never looked back to those evil things again. I think I am called to priesthood. God bless everyone!

As a teen, shortly after my reversion to the Faith and Confirmation, I went to my first "catholic" high school dance. At that dance, I don't know whether it was a vision or simply just an interior realization, but I walked in and looked around and suddenly saw amidst the young people grinding, Jesus on the cross. They ignored Him as He bled for them. My heart broke as I suddenly realized that just down the hall from that dance was our Blessed Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The sound of the over sexed lyrics resonated through the halls and right into the chapel. I left at that very moment and committed never to return. This was 15 years ago and I still remember it clearly. I have watched as faithful Catholics have become lukewarm, including one who I had considered my best friend, who the very night of her prom proudly and vocally went off to adoration with me after the big pre-prom dinner. She went off to a "good catholic school" and was introduced to dances there. Now, ten years later, she claims to be catholic yet only goes to mass when it is easiest, is dating a Protestant, and attends protestant church more than she attends Mass. She has abandoned all of her catholic friends, reads immoral books, listens to horrid music, dresses immodestly, and refuses to pray the rosary. It is now ten years after she began to attend that school and the only constant in her life besides work now is dancing. All of this I see beginning with her openness to dances. Mr. Castillo, there is nothing I more I can say except Amen. Thank you for saying what needs to be said, especially to so called orthodox Catholics. God love you, brother.

This is the reason I don't go to clubs anymore. I felt that it was sturring up passions in me that the day after make me feel so depressed and miserable. I also turned off the radio because of the garbage music on the radio nowadays (they just repeat the same nonsense anyways), and I picked up the rosary and pray that to and from work each day. 7 rosarys a day! Even more sometimes!

I was a professional ballroom dancer and teacher years ago. Beyond the young /beginners of dance and what Gabi passionately and correctly discusses in this video there is a lot more to it. As a professional, we are "forced" to have what they call full body contact. That is our bodies are pressing together from the ribs down to the knees. It was always a joke around the studio that all men must "dress to the left" because of this body contact. That right there tells you Gabi KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. And what's more, is as a professional we are "forced" (if we say no we don't have a job) to dance like this with men or women. We were not allowed to turn anyone down if they asked us to dance. There is plenty of groping and unacceptable talk going on during dance as well. What sells is sex or sexual allurements and the dancing world is no different. Even though the costumes cover more than you think with flesh colored material, it is meant to tease the imagination as if there was no clothing. It is a powerhouse of money, sex, and sexual influences. I can't tell you how many people were romantically involved with their instructors/students (some of whom were married to someone else because it is a rule not to teach your loved ones) and other 'romantic playmates'. It's all about shaking the hips, acting as a temptress, or arousing the audience. Every dancer wants to hear people say "I need a cold shower after that", "it's like sex on hardwood". Those comments alone tell you what is happening in the hearts of the onlookers and other dancers. Luckily I never fit in that well there and lost my job because I felt more comfortable in the office than being touched by strangers or anyone for that matter. I was not comfortable with the actions, carelessness and intimate contact with those in the dressing rooms... showing parts that should be veiled to a video camera as well as hundreds in the audience during dances and then being judged on how well you aroused the judges and audience. Dances are meant to tell a story. I do not know of a dance that tells a humble, innocent, and holy story of God. Only those that speak of broken relationships, lust, temptation, hardened hearts, and orgies. Listen to Gabi. He is speaking truth. I speak as an ex-professional in that world. He knows what he is talking about. Gabi... Love your videos! Please keep 'em coming! Praise be to Jesus Christ and His ocean of mercy and infinite love for all of us... even for those who have strayed!

Dancing to bring attention to yourself or your body, therefore, would be sinful. In 1 Corinthians 7:1-3, the writer says, "It is good for a man not to touch a woman" (NASB, KJV). Paul was acknowledging that men have a very strong sex drive that is easy to set off. Because of this, many styles of pair dancing outside of marriage can be very tempting, especially to the man. "Flee (as in "run away from") the evil desires of youth" (2 Timothy 2:22). Any dancing that stirs up sinful desires in ourselves or in others is sinful. Matthew 18:6-Doing something that might cause someone else to stumble into sin is considered absolutely inexcusable. Dancing in a way that would cause someone else to lust would fall under this guideline. First Thessalonians 5:22-This is a great rule of thumb if we’re not sure if a dancing situation is acceptable. "Avoid every kind of evil." If it even looks like it could be sinful, don’t do it.

When I first clicked on this video, I thought to myself, "This seems silly, but I'll hear him out". But after watching it, and having been to many dances myself, I realized he knows what he's talking about. Coming from a woman's standpoint, all of this is exactly what we do at them, but somehow, because it's in a "dance" situation we're okay with it. Yet, I wouldn't ever let someone touch me outside of a dance like I did when I went to dances in the past. I think I'll stick to dancing at home in my pj's from now on.

I'm a competitive ballroom dancer & amateur ballet dancer. I am on a Rueda (Cuban salsa) dance team. I'm a devout catholic saying the rosary every morning and sometimes do it more than once a day. I attend daily mass, adoration, am a Catechist and a young adult leader. I complete at least one consecration a year but lately been doing four. I attend ballroom and latin events but always leave by midnight or before. I know those things unfortunately happen but I believe it's based on the person. This is why I compete in ballroom & do ballet. Rueda is large group event of patterns in beautiful long covered dresses (like my international ballroom dresses) so I feel okay when participating. I dress modest and don't wear make up. I don't do certain moves or style of dance because I do feel they are too sensual and I'm uncomfortable dancing like that. I am not seeking a man out when I am dancing. These are why I only dance at certain places for a certain amount of time only with certain people. I know my intentions and my love of our lord. I follow him completely and take his guidance in everything I do. I definitely say no thank you to many guys who ask me to dance because I know how they are or seen how they dance. The male dancers know kind of girl I am and they've always respected me and don't bother me. Thank you for the information but it does not have to be like how the video portrayed. I'm glad it is unfortunately known in the dance seen but it's not all like that. God bless you all 🤷🏻‍♀️🙏🏼📿

Praise be Jesus and Mary, now and forever! This is a hard teaching, but from my personal experience I know it is true. Every point that Gabi mentioned either happened to me or I saw it happen in others. I started taking ballroom dance classes as a young teenager. I absolutely loved it! All my friends danced, and we would spend countless hours at dances.I began to change in those years. I stopped growing spiritually and I became more and more occupied with the world, with popular music, fashion, status, and most of all, boys. I stopped discerning or thinking about a religious vocation. Even though I knew I would never marry any of them, I became infatuated with boy after boy. I slowly began to dress immodestly. I became occupied with trying to be the most beautiful girl and the best dancer in the room. I wanted everyone to like me best, and I was jealous of any girl who caught the attention I longed for. At first I didn’t like the sexually charged music that I was dancing to or some of the more sensual dance moves. But any walls that I put up would eventually come down. My conscience wasn’t entirely silent during this time. I saw how my friends were changing for the worse, but I thought that wouldn’t happen to me. After a few years of this, the feeling that I wasn’t supposed to continue dancing became stronger and stronger. I wasn’t really happy at the dances, but I couldn’t imagine giving them up. About four years after I started dancing, I made a consecration to Our Lady. Soon after this, I got bad cough that prevented me from dancing. I was super excited to go back when I got better. But that first class back, I remember asking myself why I was even there. I felt like I was on the outside of a glass wall looking in at all of my friends laughing, talking, having a ball, while I could not extract an ounce of joy from my surroundings. I got home that night and vowed never to go back. A few months passed, and I was invited to a birthday dance party. I went, but it was the same experience. I wanted to be anywhere but there. I stopped going to dances completely. Looking back now I think this was a huge grace that Our Lady gave me. If you are struggling with going to dances, ask Mary to pray for you! She will always lead her children to Jesus.

This videos breaks my heart. I love dancing! I went to almost every dance in high school and it was my favorite times during the school year. I usually dance by myself, or in a group friends or female relatives, because I think the men are either cowards or I wasn't good enough for someone to ask me. I use to teach my cousins how to dance in family events. I can't deny the truth that is being said in this video, or the sexual nature of the Latin styles I've danced to. It's easier to not go dancing in more recent times, and I am starting to see the lengths that God has been protecting me. This is such a hard lesson, especially since my family loves dancing as well.

Or in a group of cousins and friends without touching any body parts except our hands. Now I'm married and of course would only dance with my husband in a civilized way. But I really do see Gabriel's point. Never knew that the Saints warned against it!

This is literally true. I don't go to dances, it's a place full of various temptations. 1st of all, it's mostly sexual dances (The school where I went to)and it was just uncomfortable. And like this man said, dancing can toy with your emotions. Girls would always walk up to me and do "Flirtatuous" things with me and I saw guys walk up to girls being flirtatious, it was just a trap, and a source of sin. Like I said before it toys with your emotions, 1 second you might think that this person is in love with you and you in love with them, but it's really not. It's just an illusion. There are many sexual dances that take place that takes away God's presence and what is morally right. The music also tends to be innapropriet where I went to. When I go to dances I can just sense the Devil's odor literally everywhere. "Twerking" and "Grinding" and rubbing on each other, it's just not okay especially for young people it's just plain disgusting. When you see 13 year old girls and boys do sexual dances, it's just disturbing. God's grace is NOT found in dances. It leads to fornification and other sinful things. What's also disturbing is to see this happen in Catholic High Schools. Please just don't go to dances.

I went to my first “dance” when I was in my early 20s and I hated it so so much. They forced everyone on the dance floor and we have to switch partners every so often. I had like 7 different guys touching me. It was a swing dance but I hated it so much. It was so awkward and I felt like a dummy, and so awkward because I wanted to die of embarrassment and hated being touched by random guys so much. I felt like a prostitution, while at the same time I felt like a scrupulous, numb, buzzkill. Now I know better. Thank you so much for this video. ❤️

I go to 2 traditional Catholic parishes that has dinner and dance nights. I remember dancing a couple of times and being convicted. I dress modestly and I even tried to watch how I danced, but after researching what some of the Church Fathers and Saints said about dancing, I went to Confession and will never dance again. People think it is innocent, but it's not, and it's not proper Christian conduct to do so either. My grandma asked her dad if she could go to a dance and he said, "Catholics don't go to dances." He ended up relenting and that's where she met my grandpa. Still, I am going to go with what the Church teaches.

I loved this and everything you said was so true! I am Catholic as well and my mother had received from God a few months ago while praying the rosary as we do every night that we shouldn't go to dances but specifically the message was for my sister since she was taking salsa classes and going to salsa dances. We obeyed God and we knew in our hearts that it was wrong but we never knew how to explain why it's wrong but God spoke through you and answered all our questions! Sin is very serious and can be disguised in many cunning ways, but God is so good, he always gives us the truth. "If today you hear His voice, harden not your heart".

In primary school, we had regular dance classes every December from the 5th to the 8th grade (for schoolchildren from 11-12 years to 14-15 years of age) instead of regular Physical Exercise and also dance competitions. The defense mechanism of the sense of shame prevented my elder brother from participating in these spiritually dangerous activities, so he was frowned upon and despised by the PE teacher and probably somewhat alienated from his classmates. However, it was a great decision in terms of seeking holiness: he was able to discern his vocation to marriage and was capable of patiently waiting and preparing to meet the future wife God had chosen for him. And so he avoided the trauma of impurity in his puberty and got married when the time was right. Praised be the LORD for this! But as for me: the same PE teacher happened to become my class master and he and his wife were both PE teachers who were in charge of teaching all the classes of the senior 4 grades at our primary school in dance classes. And me being less shy and more outgoing, but also cowardly in terms of trying to please the adults rather than resist them, I had no special reservations as to learn how to dance. Well, I was not very talented in this regard and was avoided by the potential dance partners (it was boys and girls dancing, e.g. polka, foxtrot, waltz, boogie-boogie, etc.). We also had a rule that when choosing our partners, those being chosen could not say no. And so there was a girl who could dance very well, and I chose her so as to compensate for my clumsiness. Of course, she refused, but had to yield because of the rule, and so we danced. This undue, unsolicited for and improper physical proximity stirred my carnal sensations (probably because of pheromone interactions) and so I fell in love with her - me being completely inappropriate for her and her being completely inappropriate for me. Later on, of course, she rejected me and I was ashamed of my feelings, too, so the result was years of unrequited love (or, rather being infatuated and enamored) for me plus a distorted, pathological pattern that would then lead me through 20 years of bad choices, failed courtship attempts, lack of vocational discernment through prayer, preoccupation with finding a girlfriend, confusing lust and perversion for true love and attraction, disappointments and serial rejections and heartbreaks (primarly for me, but also for those rare women whom I rejected out of fear and confusion). So, the dancing provided for early scandal and deformation of my emotional development and delayed realizations regarding my limitations and possibilities in life. I had probably been messed up even before this dance experience so as to be unfit for marriage out of various reasons, but had I not been exposed to sinful occasions during dance classes at such an early age (early puberty) and for four years, I would certainly have realized the demands of Catholic marriage and my irreparable shortcomings to be ready, willing and able to live such a vocation much earlier than I actually did. Or, even worse, the first experience with undue bodily proximity to women could be the bad influence that actually made these challenges insurmountable and messed me up so that 20 years later, I could only say that my vocation, whatever it is, has been wrecked beyond recovery. The lesson therefore is, ye boys and girls: listen to your conscience and the sense of shame that protects your dignity as a child of God in a fallen state of human nature and constant threat of sin trying to strike at you where you are most vulnerable - in your sexuality, which has to be protected by chastity and purity according to one's vocation and state in life.

My husband and I had to ask ourselves if we were depriving our kids of anything by not doing the school dance thing. I enjoyed getting dressed up and going to a nice restaurant, but the dance was never wholesome. We can replicate whatbwas good and wholesome and instead of a dance....go to a holiday symphony or ballet. Make a memory with your children by modeling adult behavior, catholic modesty and celebrating what is beautiful. Our conversation concluded that our children won't miss out on us eliminating an occasion to sin from their life. They will benefit in so many ways.

To get down to the "nitty gritty" requires an enormous amount of prayer. Anything is possible with the Lord. I have 2 daughters (4yrs & 1yr old). My 4yr old already gets very easily drawn in to many things that are borderline to being against the ways of Christ. We live in cesspool of evil and it is OH SO very easy to get drawn in to sin without even realizing it. I am as guilty as any other man. I think this is the main focus of your video. SINNING WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT. Wether at a "simple school dance" or watching TV, going to the mall, to the beach, or even to church. Christ himself said it before his last breath. "forgive them for they know not what they do". Again, anything is possible with the Lord. Thank you for this video. Miraculous Mary in Heaven intercede for us all.

Very good post Chris.. my 6 yo son is very much into this show on Sunday night's called.. Once Upon a Time.. it seemed ok at first but then he drew a very vivid drawing of witches and sorcerers ..I never thought anything bad about it.. But suddenly it dawned on me how evil some of the programs are on television these days. I thank God for this young man's videos. God bless you!!

Strictly speaking you cannot "sin without realizing it", as sin requires a conscious adherence to the matter, otherwise it’s just imperfection. What is good with children is to offer them good things while discouraging ones which might be hollow at best, if not harmful
@SmithsnMoz
@SmithsnMoz 9 жыл бұрын
etpicci .. I respectfully disagree.. I think you can "sin without realizing" There's many people who think the use of "foul language" or use of "contraception" or "masturbating" are sinful. I can attest to that myself. Not everyone has the same level of understanding especially children. Sometimes we come to realize it until we receive the grace of God. I really do think many homosexuals are unaware of the sin involved when they act upon their desires... I've heard many good but misguided people say to me.. "how can you be against two people loving each other ". It takes wisdom and discernment to realize when we sin. In other words I think the further away we ate from the Lord, the more our minds and hearts get caught in a state of confusion and immorality without necessarily realizing it

We are speaking of different things, or possibly looking at the same thing from two different perspectives. You are right in your conclusion, and in saying there are different levels of awareness, and that by its very nature sin, especially grave sin, clouds the ability of clear judgement. What I was picturing is a context where you are generally in state of grace, full aware of sin as the only evil, in its root. Children can be misled, but while they degree of awareness and perception may be more limited, in some way they can be able to realize by grace, quicker than adults what is evil and what is not. What I affirm is the basic teaching about mortal sin, which can’t happen unconsciously. That’s where the subjective part comes in, while the gravity of matter remains (in most examples you made it’s evident).

Thank you for this video! I was going to attend a college week at a Catholic school that had mandatory dances I decided not to go. As a young lady called to the religious life, I know Satan would tempt me to give up my vocation at such dances though they are called "good and clean."

Yes. You must guard your vocation. I know of a very good Catholic College that places a lot of emphasis on the dances. I know of some people who go and have gained so much from the college, but have had to really hold their ground and avoid the dances. It was tough because they see these dances as wholesome, but it is possible with prayer and will power to avoid them. You did the right thing. You know yourself and you know that the enemy wants you. God bless you. I will pray for you my friend. St. Gemma, pray for us.

I am a Primary School teacher and also I am a choreographer and taught dances to children part time. After my mother died 3 years ago I had no taste to teach dance anymore so I quit this part time job and though many parents of my students asked me to return, I remained adamant. But my regret is giving my daughter the 'baton' to follow in my footsteps because she was brought up thinking that dancing in the different genres are acceptable. But God sent you to me via Sensus Fidelium who liked the video you did on Our Lady of Sorrows and I am so happy to find you because it is great that I can show my daughter this video and many young people at my school and they can hear from another young person this point of view. May God bless you always and keep on spreading the truth through social media. THANKS YOU SO MUCH MAY GOD BLESS YOU.

Thank you. God bless you. I can testify that your every word, each thought is the truth, in every dance that I have been to, going from school dances all the way to clubbing at university, vanity, the need to look sensual and sexual, was present. God has given me the feeling of shame now to put on any immoral clothes or go to dances, and I thank Him for my new found modesty.

I agree with this man. It is so true that infatuation toward a woman can eventually destroy a soul, and the sinfulness that occurs at dances even happens over here at Franciscan University; please pray for that school. Thank you for your guidance . It has really opened my eyes. Looking back at my own or my friend's experiences I know what you say is true. My daughter who is a preteen cried when I had her watch this because she knew she had to give up prom and dances which she was looking forward to. I explained to her that if she gives this up she is saying a bigger and better yes to God. Then I followed it with examples in her life when she chose the greater good and how much God blessed her. I also wanted to point out that I let her know that she doesn't have to stop dancing around the house or with her friend's that are girls as long as it involves modest music , dress, and movements. Also, I reiterated that she may only dance with a guy who she is engaged with or married to. As a parent our job is to help our children get to heaven and I feel called to guard her vocation this way. We are planning alternatives to homecomings, the jr, and senior prom. I think to myself that God does see the sacrifice and our desire to please him. He is a generous Father who will help us and bless us . When we say no to the world , we are saying a bigger yes to God. Thanks again for your video.

Thank you for sharing this powerful video! I'm a young Catholic and I used to go to dances, and over time I became really uncomfortable with them. There's a kind of a sadness that I began to feel. Then I decided to not go to dances anymore, not only because of the possible impurity, but also - the vanity. Even if people are not dancing with partners and it's more "sanitized", - I feel uncomfortable that a lot of the dance moves still involve moving in a particular way (even with a different intention, that's just how the dance moves are, especially today) - and there is a temptation to vanity and immodesty especially for girls. I've come to think that maybe it's because the modern music has such a strong beat, that the dance moves developed in this way. We receive Jesus into our bodies so I don't think it's right to do these kinds of moves with our bodies. But as you said many other dances too, they involve too much proximity to the person of the opposite sex and can tempt to sin. I've come to the conclusion it's best to just avoid dances. Thank you for sharing again and for your courage in saying this, though it is controversial. God bless you!

This is something that came to my heart years ago. I was a good dancer and that was something women liked about me. I am now married and will never go to another dance or have my children go. If you are open to the Holy Spirit and live In a State of Grace He will dwell within you and reveal these truths to you. We were made to be temples of the Holy Spirit, to be Tabernacles of Our Lord in The Blessed Sacrament, act as such and avoid dances. I spent time as a missionary on a major college campus and this was a problem even amount those whose faith was important to them. They even had Catholic ballroom dances. A lesser evil doesn't make right. I would tell those students in my Bible study, receive the sacraments often go to adoration every day and pray your Rosary! Our Lord and Our Lady will not let you fall into these traps. Thank you for this video and your witness My Brother in Christ! Versa Alto!

Everything u say is true. Wish someone had the courage to tell me this when I was younger. Plz pray for my little sister, she use to be such a modest girl. She always wore skirts below the knees b/c she felt uncomfortable if they were shorter. She’d ware shorts with her swimsuits b/c, “I feel naked”. We both went out of our way to find modest beautiful clothing. But now she’s the complete opposer within 1 year 1/2 . She switched schools and now wants to ware crop tops, short dresses & bikinis. Recently she has been trying to convince my mom on allowing her to ware a see-through shirt with just a bra underneath. She suffered many years from bully’s, so I know she is lowering her standards to fit in. She even started cussing a storm. PLZZZ pray for her, and for me, to help influence her in a positive way. She is losing touch with God and I can’t reach out to her anymore. I don’t know what to say or do. God have mercy 😞🌹🙏🏼🌹

Most of my experience with dancing is midwest USA polka dances. I've been to a gay club (there is no holiness, no good morals, no formal dancing, it is hell). I've been to swing dances and school dances (very little formal dancing, this guy's explaining this). The polka dances are mostly during the day and intermixed ages, no passion or sensuality, and it is based in our ethnic, religious heritage. This is OKAY. Dancing with grandmas has got to be a corporal work of mercy; it has to be related to healing the sick. Why did he not cover this? What about dancing with other family members? Moving on, I talked to priests to hear their thoughts. Can we trust our shepherds? I heard that St. John Vianney is referring to young people meeting at night at the crossroads of towns. Obviously not a good idea! You know how strict the SSPX is? An SSPX priest urged me to dance at wedding on Saturday because it is a good practice for a single young man (and I was not okay with it, so I didn't!). Compare it to alcohol. Don't use it, and you won't sin. Use it, and you'll learn moderation. What's better? Many traditional kids fall off the deep end because of their lack of control. If I had a daughter, I wouldn't let her date a guy who didn't know how to touch her respectfully. I wouldn't let my daughter date if she couldn't say no to guys dancing with her. Sacrifice is nice, but self-control is more pleasing to God. I think this guy's right in a few places. - Church is the place to meet girls - 4 rosaries a day, YES! I just started a few days ago - dressing up to impress people is vanity - you have to be willing to give anything up for Jesus I'm willing to never look at or speak to women for sake of avoiding sin... but is that a good idea? I want to wear a monk's habit out of humility... but is that a good idea? I contemplated not buying any more meat in order to observe Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday fasting... but is that a good idea? I'm not a priest or religious, so don't think I'm a spiritual pro! I almost didn't leave this comment, but I thought the points on dancing with family & old people and having self-control should be discussed.
