I love your practical advice. What tools or websites would you recommend to research career outlook for different areas of social work? I only know of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, but it does not go into detail about different fields of social work. Thank you so much.

I'm in my early 30s. Sadly I did not major in SW in my 20s. I'm honestly feeling that it's too late to start over in Macro SW. The thought process is that I might not be selected for the macro SW fields I truly desire because I don't carry a SW degree. Is there a way I can develop SW skills without a degree? What would you recommend?

Would you happen to know about the various social work opportunities in higher ed or university settings? People usually equate ‘school’ social work with elementary thru high school but not usually beyond.

Great question! Many social workers actually work in student affairs. I strongly considered student affairs during my bachelors experience and decided that studying that directly was too limiting for me. I chose social work because it’s broad enough to prepare me for higher education opportunities too. So feel confident applying to any student affairs or student services roles. Often they will put on their job posting that they want people with a student affairs background or related. Social work is related!

This is the route I’m wanting to go into! Check higher education case managers association. Also, a social worker could be a title IX investigator, disability services coordinator, or manager of an on campus food pantry. @mind your society would love if you did a video on this specific field of social work

I’m currently in higher Ed but as an administrator because it was a way in and they pay for your degree but I don’t hear many people talk about using the MSW to work in different areas within this industry. Well, not outside of advising. I eventually want to do therapy but I’m really enjoying the university setting at this moment. I would love a video on this as well.
