Yes!! She, knowingly or not, is brushing shoulders with the topic of male obsession, fixation, study, dedication, etc.., This tendency for men to obsessed with things and women to be more focused on people is a real thing. This is yet another example of a man pushing the envelope of what humans can do, what we know, using new technology to discover what can be done, chasing perfection, etc. It TENDS to be males that take risks, make discoveries, explore the oceans, travel to Mars, or die trying... Always at the edges, pushing civilization into new territories,., it’s nearly always men. Good for Laird.

It's because you are riding something that is very unique, no 2 waves exactly alike, and it is extremely powerful and propelling you as you navigate and decide what maneuvers you want to do at that very moment. It is a sensation that can not be explained to anyone who hasn't done it. People try and relate it to skateboarding, snowboarding, flying, all forms of waterskiing, etc. it isn't, it's totally unique. And frankly, the more pure the better, the smaller the board the better. No SUPs, toe ins, etc. I respect the dudes charging 15 foot 3rd reef pipe or surfing chops, paddling in on a normal board waaaay more that guys getting toed in on 40 foot Mavericks or wherever. The critical pop up, the reef, getting thrown over the falls, etc.

Gabby married a man with severe adhd and depression . Laird self medicates by riding huge waves, it releases large amounts of dopamine, and some serotonin. It probably balances him out somewhat...for a short time....then he will need another " fix". It must be exhausting for Gabby to deal with the up and down ride. She definitely has some intensity herself which a professional athlete must have to be competitive, but she seems to have good self awareness which is important. She seems very intelligent, which is a probably the most attractive trait in a human being. I could see her as a great mom to her kids. If you can read between the lines you can see her relationship with laird takes a toll on her emotionally.
