This is some really solid advice from Gad! Walk 10k steps per day, track your calories, get your protein, and stop trying to fix years of bad habits in a week. Add in weight training on top of that and there's your formula for success.

Losing weight isn’t hard. Keeping the weight off is! I’ve lost 75lbs from 250 to 175 and now gained back to 210. When I started to gain 5-10 lbs i thought we’ll you were 250 … you still lost 65 lbs … you still lost 55lbs only to realize if this continues I’ll be back at 250 in no time. I also am back on my journey to lose this weight once again and hopefully keep it off. Life and fitness is a marathon, you didn’t gain the weight in one day and you won’t lose it all in one day. Trust the process, stay motivated, and stay consistent.

I used to weigh about 250 lbs. in high school ten years ago. Since college, I've weighed between 170 and 180 lbs., depending on my diet, exercise, and time of the year. My weight came off over 1-2 years of eating and exercising properly with a young metabolism. It really is about little, consistent changes over time. I feel much better than I did as a child and teenager, even though I'm older. It's good to hear so many other people commenting here with similar experiences. Hope we all can do more in our everyday lives to maintain a healthy weight.

I lost about 30 pounds, and I credit that to 3 things: daily walks/jogs, cutting out carbs, and cutting out sugar. I had cut out bread, so salads for lunch instead of sandwiches, and no rice. I've been fluctuating around my target weight, and to this day, I only eat rice on occasion (like sushi), but I was able to bring bread back into my diet. I agree with them, it's about bay steps, but you have to be consistent. And allow yourself to cheat every so often. You can get demoralized by never touching the foods you love, so allow yourself a treat every week. I still remember a guy on Jeopardy who said he lost like 20 pounds by completely eliminating sugar from his diet EXCEPT on Saturday. Saturday, he allowed himself all the sugar he wanted, still lost weight.

And above all *Trusted the process . Losing 80+ pnds is no easy feat, especially the older one is. Yet he stuck with it. Credit to having a honest support team (wife) at his side as well. I find it very difficult to believe that a regular person couldn't manage 8-10k steps a day. That sounds like a lot but it's very very little for a regularly active person, even with poor health. I do more than that without even meaning to. 10k steps is barely any. For instance, just pacing my flat tidying and maybe a 5min walk to the shop. That's 8-10k steps a day without even doing anything! Add 2 or 3 litter walks a week and a few weights and you're basically doing equivalent to gym visits. Keep in mind I am a disabled 40 yr old lol if I can then anyone can.

Recently lost 55 pounds in 3 months myself, with zero exercise. Not because I am strong willed but because I had what the doctors believe was a minor stroke (no lasting symptoms so I was very lucky). Im 25 years old and Im 6 foot 2. The heaviest I’ve been is 340 (could have been heavier at some point but the highest I seen on a scale was 340). I am now 277 and already feel great, even though I still have a long way to go. I don’t even count calories, all I do is low sodium diet (1500mg daily max due to my hypertension) and low saturated fats. I eat air fried chicken and steamed vegetables every day, every meal. I eat fruit for snacks in between meals. I eat beef (minimum 90% lean) every now and then, maybe once or twice a month. I intend on getting a gym membership soon so I can exercise when not working. I no longer look at eating as a pleasure like I used to, I look at it solely as sustenance. My blood pressure has improved drastically since the weight loss and I feel the best I have ever felt. Used to think it was impossible but given the right motivators (stroke in my case) it can be done. Just gotta stick with it and know that the reward is worth sacrificing temporary comforts like eating junk. And know you will come out of it a better person and a better-feeling person.

@@codyf296 Congrats Cody. You're right about diet being the biggest part of it all. You don't even need to exercise if you're dieting correctly. I recently dropped 20 pounds just by doing keto, with zero exercise involved. The weight just fell off. I think the biggest reason most people fail at their diet is because they can't resist the temptations they're leaving behind, but most people don't realize that after some time, their taste buds will reprogram to liking the stuff that's on their diet. Diet food only tastes bad at first because all the sugar, carbs, and junk food that most people are used to has them addicted.

Being locked down with just the absence of the daily exercise of shopping and errands... Combined with extra time around the house with too much time to stress eat... Has left me with a challenge to overcome the post-Covid fatigue to get back my energy. Our motto around the house is Jocko's Campaign of Discipline. The goal is 250 pounds. It's been 25 years since I was there and I have my size 34 pants hanging on the closet door as motivation. 50 pounds down... 100 to go! ** EDIT ** Thanks for the kind words guys. It's nobody's fault but mine that I am where I am because I put every single piece of food into my mouth. I'm not looking for sympathy but I certainly wasn't expecting support. I’m 27, lost 18KG in the last 12 months from pretty much the same advise. It’s easy and very encouraging to see the weight drop so fast the beginning by eating more reasonable portions of the same food. As the weight loss journey progresses you may find yourself hitting a wall, I added in 1 hr walks every evening and finally got past that. I feel so much better as a result. It’s really not that complicated but YT can have you overthinking everything. Solid advice here. Keep it simple.

WOW! That's awesome! I'm 55 years old. On April 1st of this year (2022) I weighed 265 pounds. Today I weigh 225 pounds. I've cut my calories down to about 1,200 a day, and completely stayed away from the carbs. However, I can't seem to lose it around the belly for some reason though. I've dropped two pants sizes, but the belly just doesn't seem to be shrinking. Unfortunately this is about the time I usually fail miserably, and lose all motivation. I can't really do the thousands of steps a day thing because my extra weight completely destroyed my knees, so this time last year I had to have total knee replacements in both legs, so long walks aren't really an option for me.

Good for you man😌👍💪🔥 Not sure if you are doing eating windows... But humble suggestion.. try looking into Green Tea Matcha, and L-Carnitine during fasted state👍 Took me to the next level(mid 40's👍). I wish you great success on your journey 💪🔥❤️✌️ Keep going 😃

Stationary bikes can helpful for people with bad knees. The knees aren’t baring any weight and your quads do most of the work.

April of 2021 you weighed 265? You did not lose 40lbs in just over a month eating 1,200 calories unless you were exercising a heck ton.

Joe Rogan constantly shaming me forced me to lose weight. I only eat 12 hours out of the day and frequently rub gravel in my hair.

It's interesting listening to him because he's gone about it in the exact same way I did. I went from 230 to 170 and basically just did it by setting little goals. So at first my goal was to get to 200 then when I reached that I set a goal to get to 180. I felt good at 180 but then I lost the extra 10 as just a little experiment. Which is fine because if I was to gain a few extra pounds Its not a big deal as I'm happy in-between 170-180 anyway.

Not a myth. Exercise can help with weight loss and beyond that it has tons of benefits for metabolic, emotional and mental health. Everyone should exercise. But the amount of calories you can burn from moderate exercise pales in comparison to the amount of calories you can choke down from processed junk food. So unless you're going to run a half marathon every day, you can't out exercise a bad diet.

The secret for me was harnessing procrastination and just putting off eating and doing other things that take up time. Just keep putting off cravings when you can, and you'll have eventually eaten less over the weeks and months.

I've always been on the thinner side. Then hit 40s and suddenly not only was I gaining weight, but losing it also seemed more difficult. The simple tricks like walking a bit more or climbing stairs to work stopped working. Anyways, I went on Keto and 1 hour of gym every day. 1st month nothing happened, then in the next 3 months lost 15 KGs (30 pounds). What I've learned is losing weight is far faster a process than gaining weight. Whatever time that you have spent gaining weight and actively eating, in less than a quarter of that time you can lose all that weight by eating right and actively spending only as much time as you did eating on exercising.
