I'm here in 2020, more specifically July 2020. Alatreon was just added into Iceborne. This very video was the first Gaijin video I watched. Was a glaive main back in 4U and this video popped up when I tried to find guides for kinsect cuz the kinsect system was very complicated and messy in 4U. He has a certain charm to his voice to make me feel relaxed after some salt from continuous carts to Rajang. He goes thru everything step by step and very carefully. Probably already mentioned. While you might mess up things. As long as you do not evolve your kinsect you can always change it. You can always feed your kinsect after the fact. So you can always work on changing it back. This works great if you are upgrading your glaive while using it. As you can go full speed from the start and you just save up all your power nectars, then dump those in at the end, reducing speed back to 60, but at the same time you can get the evolution and stronger glaive, while you had a speedy bug.

Hi gaijin hunter , I have another question about the final upgrades though. Is there a reason why it's not needed to use Speed++ at level 11? I thought since it's the end game you can use Speed++ to reach 150 faster, and thus have more Power with Power++. Am I missing something here?

The one thing I don't understand is: how do we know at what point the weapon upgrade paths intersect with the kinsect levels? For example, how do I know before starting that a lv 10 kinsect will occur during Needle Vine or Paralyzing Vine? MatzeSuperMario The bottom 2 items will always be fixed, while the upper 2 parts often relate to the kind of glaive you are leveling. you need magala parts for magala glaive etc.

all Kinsect upgrades are the same no matter the glaive (the names are different for blunt and cutting (blunt can KO and cutting can cut tails) but the upgrade paths are exactly the same)

On your list it says I need 1 Hvy Monster Bone and 3 Fey Wyvern Bones. I can't seem to find these items on Kiranico, which makes me think they might have a different translation. Someone help please! I'm making the Anubis Glaive! And I'm at level 10 so I can make Lady Tower, but my kinsect only has 105 in power. In Gaijins video his glaive has 114 at level 10. Is this because kushala is a cutting type and impact types just have less power? Or did I mess up somewhere?

Does it matter if the nectar+ have elements included in them? I'm lacking plain speed+ nectars but I have a bunch of Speed+ [Element]... Would it be okay to use those? Oh! And would Speed++ work too?

The problem is that speed+ counts as 2 growth points and speed+(element) counts as 3. You can sacrifice stats for elemental damage if you plan it right, but it takes a lot more care.

ryekun1212 Your stamina is low, which means you're not on the power/stamina path and are on the power/speed path. You should have gleambeetle. Gleambeetles main focus is its damage, so you really didn't want 150 speed. Is your power at 54 growth points? If your power is at 54 growth points what you should do is use power+ nectars until it's at 150. This should lower your speed to 132 (at 72 growthpoints). You can then use stamina++ nectars and get 78 stamina. Your final stats should be 150 power, 78 stamina, 132 speed. There are other ways to fix the stats, but that should be a decent stat layout for gleambeetle. However you are stuck with Gleambeetle and cannot get Ladytower. That doesn't matter since the best Kinsect for Paralyzing Vine is indisputably Fleetflammer. You can balance between mounts, KO's, and paras for the most lockdown of any melee weapon. It's still an acceptable glaive since gleambeetle still has some KO potential, just not as much as fleetflammer.

xSkye629x Sounds like you're asking about the difference between starting with the Stealth Glaive (LR Nerscylla) and the Assault Glaive (HR Nerscylla). With most other weapons, it is cool to start at a later point in the evolutionary line, so long as it is before the branching that leads into the final weapon you want. Insect Glaives aren't quite the same. The Glaives each have a straightforward path and the customization between them is not in branching the weapon, but the Kinsect paths. Case in point: Stealth Glaive is Poison, and can start in LR. Assault Glaive is Sleep and starts as a HR weapon. TL;DR You may want to build both, unless you can build Chameleos, which is a much better poison glaive in it's final form. (Unless you want both Nerscylla poison and Chameleos poison glaives for different hunts and paired them with different kinsects)

+Zeerekbloodhoof Trust me, DON'T USE that technique now. You need at least to be Rank G. So for the moment, spam your glaive with Speed +. It will last to Rank G. Then, you will do the method. If you want to know why, it's because your Kinsect will stay unfinished for a LONG time, so you'll have a veeeery slow Insect, and it'll make the weapon harder to use.

After you get effect extender you pump power ++ just to increase the kinsect damage. So would element ++ be a viable alternative? You make an ice glaive and use it against ice weak monsters so if the kinsect does ice too would it be as good or better than power?

i heard you can't make EE glaive 'till G2 or something like that. i'm currently G1 (HR41) and i just made a windchopper steve glaive-- but i still have some steve dissenters so i can make more. isn't it really annoying to use a power only bug, though? do you reccommend waiting until G2 to make it or just make it along the way?

Jade Nine i've been using IG exclusively since i started the game...if you don't know how a 100+ speed bug feels the slow ones are not annoying at all :-D can't say i would ever want to go back to one though ;-) But if you are at least at village high rank you can craft it to around level 7 or 8 and it has more than 100 speed and can definatly be used for hunts

Why is the brachy glaive on your list? sure it has better sharpness then hellruin overall, but less affinity/slots/blast is eh, and if you dont use sharpness+1 the dala glaive seems the best with its massive white (though you cant finish it yet)

Gaijin. What do you think of people who hack in armor/weapons/talismans, should I kick them? Today I actually met a person online who told me they had a hacked talisman(ooo Auto Guard +10, Defense +14). They were G2 and also had a honed Rare 10 Daora CB and full G-Rank Dalamadur armor. It just infuriates me that people like us dedicate time and effort to make these armor sets, and then there are people who just cheat there way up. It kinda ruins some of the fun of mh imo because of the satisfaction that comes with completing a set or defeating a difficult quest.

I am making the shagaru magala IG, I followed this guide all the way. I'm at lv 7 going into 8, but some of the numbers are not matching up? Instead of hitting 114 like it says, I seem to max it at 99. Did I just waste my time and resources?

GH, I just started building up a Brachy IG, but it stopped me at a Rath Wingtalon+ before I could even evolve my bug the first time. that's a *G* rank item blocking the *first* evolution... what gives? (Not to mention it's not in your recipe list.

Because its turning into a rare 8 weapon that is two levels before the last level of a weapon, so thats why it takes g rank parts hell the final form takes parts from a monster all the way in g3.

For a weapon that looks like it's supposed to be full of customization options, it sucks that this video makes it seem like you have no options.

Extract extend is the best but nobody is telling you that it's your only option. Extract efficacy L is nice too if you want to be overpowered for a short time. Seriously the health boost you get makes akantor and ukanlos fights trivial. you wont even touch a potion. You might want to look into what other skills there are and what trees you need to follow though because you can easily screw yourself over. (It's why if I make a glaive in G rank i make sure i over farm so I can fully upgrade in bulk so i can restart if i slip up)

BlaizeTheDragon But from most standpoints, you really don't have those other options. Going for any other option hampers yourself, and that's not what you want to do at all. It's like saying Blue sharpness weapons are fine in late G Rank. Yeah, you can use them, but Purple ones are just flat out better every time. Those other kinsects are only useful for novelty or super specialized circumstances.

That's pretty much what a "meta game" is: The most optimal way to play a game. What grinds my gears is when people say "OH FUCK ALL THAT, I LIKE TO PLAY *MY* GAMES FOR FUN!" because it is as if they are implying that grinding for mixed and matched equipment and acquiring very potent skills in order to kill a monster quicker than the norm is boring, yet wearing matching armor sets only to look cool or thinking the game ends at low/high rank is fun. so... what about relic glaives, they start with weird leveled bugs, for example i got a nice metal mauler with purple sharpness with sharpness+1 with defense and affinity and solid attack with a +4 to edgemaster, but the kinsect started at level 5... not sure what nectars to use from there...

Would you mind doing a tutorial of how to do all this with ++ nectars in order to get a bit more better version in the end? I'm also a bit confused of how low rarity the weapon has to be in the beginning in order to have enough upgrades available to reach EE. Do I always have to start from the bottom of weapon's tree? And what about if certain weapon has just a few version upgrades available in stead of 10?

New player here, using the IG. I was wondering why you wouldn't use the stat++ nectars? Since they only reduce all the elements, and not the stats you are actually interested in.

I've just made to G rank and I've made a Kushala IG. I was planning on following your guide, but I don't have the extender. Why do you have it on yours? Do you get it later on in the G-rank?(sry, MH4U is my 1st MH game) Also, I just saw your Super Kinsect vid, when and how do you get to the Wyverian Trader?

Effect extender is from kinsect leveling and its the final kinsect that is chosen during this video that grants effect extender

about the top 5 gleves names in the video what is good about anubis? looks like a terrible weapon to me since it has -affinity

-affinity just means that it has a % chance of doing 25% less damage, so Anubis has a 10% chance. Anubis has the highest raw damage of any IG and is used when you just want to deal all out raw damage. WIth the buffs and food it can do insane amounts of dps the only thing is that it has a 10% chance to do 25% less damage but 10% chance is super low and it has such high damage that 25% doesn't hurt it that much. So its a the pro out way the cons type of weapon and like i said is used when you just need that raw damage plus it has purple sharpness which adds to it dps. Plus it looks fucking cool. :)

Can you please talk about the top 5 glaves in the game? Specifically Anubis. Are you referencing about its awaken? I simply cant grasp this list. Please elaborate!

There is not defined order at end game you want all of those 5 IG listed. Bracky is the best blast IG if you don't have (Crimson fatty IG) + (sharpness +1), Chammy is a the best and a great poison IG, Doara is the best Ice IG and looks amazing, and Anubis is the highest and only good full raw IG you do not want to awaken it, you are using it for the shear raw damage you get from it. But all of these are great and are not really numbered in a order from best to worse.
