This helps a lot. I never truly understood the benefit of "cross training". Ballet is about stability first and foremost. Any other discipline will train flexibility and stability in positions that have nothing to do with the base of the en dehors. Your approach makes completely sense.

could you also give some tips for flexibility in the back (like exercise to do using the barre)? I always find my breathing much more difficult (and I probably do look quite painful😅) when trying to do a backbend at the barre.
