I didn't even know this game existed. As someone very familiar with the DS remake of Mario 64, seeing basically the same Wario model waddling around in his own game is so trippy.

you randomly bringing up wario world as being a perfect game to rent from blockbuster is crazy, because thats exactly how I played it! Back when the blockbuster was still open I'd get to a rent a game for the weekend sometimes, and wario world was a game both myself and eventually my dad would play. Somehow he convinced the clerk to just sell us the thing after a while of having rented it (I think they were about to restock the games with different things or something and Wario World wasn't something they were keeping around), and we played till almost the end where we both failed to find enough red crystals for the pecan sands boss, then somehow the save got deleted, and later still the game vanished... I'm still wondering if it's in the house somewhere. Now with story time over I can say adding achievements to go for is an interesting and honestly needed concept with this game, like you said with how few levels there are you can start seeing cracks so having a few extra things to go for could help add some replay value. personally I'd love some sort of Wario World 2, but let's be real that shit ain't happening.
