I beached a 16 ft V-hull on the Hudson river once. The beach was steeper than I liked and when my family were enjoying a bbq a large pleasure boat came by fast, the bow wave swamped mine and two other smaller boats. We were not in a speed regulated area so we just started bailing, lesson learned. Beach, unload then pull back to anchor.

Geez, I have anchored my boat in that exact spot!

How would you set an anchor is you had wind over tide. Which would you use to set? Love the content ladies

Dang!! That’s a beautiful, calm beach. We don’t have that in California. I didn’t know progressive insured boats. I have 4 insurance companies and need to try and consolidate.

Nicely presented. Would you generally agree to anchor in the same method as the other boats around you, so you all drift the same? e.g. Don't set two anchors, to hold position, when others are swinging around a single anchor. In addition, do folks there use a float of some sort to mark the anchor when people are walking around on a submerged sand bar, to help avoid stepping on an anchor?
@kevinlynch6799 Жыл бұрын
Most do not use floats but it is a good idea to do so. When near or on a sandbar it is everybody’s responsibility to be aware of anchors and anchor lines at all times. When approaching other boats on the water, it is the Captain’s responsibility to be aware of everyone else’s anchor lines. And yes, it does get messy when you get a “know-it-all” who just runs up to the sandbar without evaluating the wind, tide, drift and other boaters dock lines. But, they are usually the sandbar entertainment within a couple of hours. Be well.

Would you turn off your battery switch? Or leave it on while beached?

How do you anchor on a beach that has strong currents that pushes the boat? Every time I try to beach it by the time I get the front anchor on it the back on the boat has already turned parallel with the beach.
@sxxaredd44743 ай бұрын
How I do it is I hit it with a bit more force before the anchor in order to bring more of the boat up on the beach to lock it in a little more

3:02 your gear is not engaging correctly. The mechanism is skipping on the teeth trying to engage throttle before the gears set. Get your motor checked.
@hybridstoatdragon Жыл бұрын
Lower unit drive sounded bad. Im new to the concept of boating but in mechanics i am good at paying attention to detail. Is your boat always doing that. And when is the last time you got the gearbox/transmission mechanism checked. 4:54. If any of you reading this are trained marine mechanics please reply and state whether thats a normal sound or not.

Nice job, ladies. How many times have we witnessed poor souls in a beached boat, hating life, on a low tide sandbar? Also, dragging and swinging boats on a busy sandbar is not cool at all.
