I invented a game for my p2e campaign with three players in the party. It was called "Three towers", it was a three vs three team game where both teams used any skill or non combat application of there attacks to try and score points against the other team by capturing one of three contested or uncontested lanes, each with the other teams "tower" at the other end. I thought it was pretty fun and there was a wager placed on the game. But after the first time, my players ever focused on the main plot never felt like engaging it again lol. despite me trying to make it a nice juicy payout and easy to find in all towns haha.

Me and my friends caught our DM off guard when we acrually went to the casino he put in front of us. We played some balckjack and some roulette and ended up coming out with a profit of around 18%. Considering we went in with 10k gold (5e), it was pretty significant lol.

Let me humbly recommend "ship, captain, crew" as the game du jour for any table that wants to bet fake GP on real dice rolls. The rules are dirt simple: You get 3 rolls of 5d6, and can choose not to roll any number of them after your first toss. You need a 1, 2, and 3 to qualify, and the remaining 2d6 are your score. Doubles beats numerics, 21 beats all.

To mix PC Sheet skills and a real gambling game - Cards: on a gambler's turn make the relevant skill check. Crit Success draw two cards from the deck or discard and replace any two cards. Success: draw one card and replace one. Fail: no benefit. Critical fail - an opposing gambler gets to lookout your cards. Dice: Crit Success = re-roll two and change two dice if re-roll is better; Success: as Crit but one die. Fail: no benefit: re-roll two dice and if any are worse you must take them.

Income earning should be adjusted so they can earn much more with a high success, but a middling success is actually breaking even and a failure meaning they lose money. That way gambling feels more like gambling. Gambling is risky.
