Thank you so much for publishing and commenting this battle of giants, dear Historical Chess Videos! Steinitz had not yet reached his peak then, but on the other hand Anderssen had more professional obligations than his rival: teacher, he had to hurry for finishing the match as quickly as possible in order to be back in Germany at the end of summer; so, he was under pressure of time more and more towards the end of the match. And maybe that's why too he could not win an absolute won position in game 5 already, and even lost it finally by blunders. Of course, there are always mistakes on both sides in such matches, but that match was a fascinating and balanced struggle, with heavy and spectacular tactical blows! Like in this first encounter; and not even ONE draw in 14 games!

Yes not even one draw... I knew that one and its very impresive, I hope I will cover all of them. But I didn't know the details, maybe I should read more about this match and make more research. Thank you very much for the valuable informations about the match. Take care.

I agree that rook to c5 is a bad move. After checking with queen, knight to d7 family forks queen, rook, and bishop if white chooses to play it. Still an interesting game though.
