The ramp up in skill and development is much more realistic in this story than saga of Tanya. There is very little that will save our “protagonist” aside from what is necessary for plot to continue forward. The real treat of this story is the LIght novel that goes into exhausting detail about the mental turmoil, trials, and stress of a soldier in trench warfare and the transition from mid evil tactics to a modern front. It is saddled with tones and details skipped in the manga along with strategic movements that were made popular in war. One of my particular gripes with this manga early on is how they took away the fact touri saved herself from that sleep assault by moving her foot to alert gray, and also that Touri’s action saving salsa was given much more gravity when Gray shares Salsa’s motivation for why he returned the favor. Touri is very capable and seeing their development as they accumulate experience is satisfying but also knowing how fleeting life is in the war will be a constant sobering reminder of the road she walked. I think Tanya kinda always ahead of the curve because modern knowledge. And all I've seen from this vid, there is little to no reason why they have to suffer in the trench. Inaccurate firearms with a few bombardment magic(Which expensive to use) is not a reason to hunker down in the trench, you simply set an outpost with array of patrols around it.

as someone who finished the novel (ended a month ago or so), I gotta say it was... way better than expected, MC's asspulls are basically like King from One Punch Man, pure luck. Particularly when she gets cornered and goes into a schizo "f*ck it we ball" mode. Tanya wishes her schizo attacks were as good as Tori's. The plot twists are on point, the ending is... well, not open (crazy how nowadays this is a good selling point), the characters are... unusual in a good way and it seems like almost nobody got plot armor. kind of reminded me to Mushoku in terms of characters, everyone is not black or white but gray, every character has flaws and motivations compared to the 2 dimensional most mangas have. The important countries are... Austin (equivalent of germany, MC's country) Sabbath (equivalent of Russia, currently at war with ger- I mean austin) Flammer (equivalent of... France I think?) Aegis (equivalent of UK if I'm not mistaken)

Garback is the type of commander that would catch a bullet to the back of the head in the field. Mcnamara's morons proved not anyone can use a gun. They were very much a hindrance when conducting warfare, so Garback is an idiot. Why are the enemy soldiers chasing them while they have rifles in their hands? Were they planning on using them like clubs? Kind of defeats the whole point of having a ranged weapon. So, the enemy just crossed no-man's land in a storm just to get into a sword fight? Why even have guns, for !!!! sake. Garback really should be dead. No soldiers would ever stand to see a wounded comrade nearly beaten to death by their c.o. Officers have been killed for far less. Fr, in the novel shield magic is not op and unstoppable magic like in other stories but instead it’s used to deflect. let’s say you need to get out of cover to shoot the enemy, you aim then shoot and shield and if you get hit the shield could save your life and deflect the bullet instead of killing you but it doesn’t always work, it’s better than no shield.

Yeah, let her free and turn her into a live fire exercise when somehow any military units find her in the mess. Literally, war. Civilians will be in the crossfire once the fronts advances. And she has magic, specifically healing someone, she is really needed there to aid their army. Though unfortunately, unlike Tanya, her powers are limited to bare minimum, and she's the only woman in the battlefield, where men are quite shellshocked and trying to find something to cope. And by cope, by means violating a person (I hope that person also accidentally ended if that happens)- We'd also hope any of their field officers wouldn't be an ass, but we know most in the wars, there's not much kind hands, other than a punch to your face to wake you up and drag you away from danger and proceeds to maul you with words of being too lenient. Proceeds a beat down and continue to survive. Typical military where you need violence to cool down. This is one of the closest realization of war in media, of what could happen. Magic is somehow a replacement of artillery so they still don't have those metal hunks around, however that wasn't really the focus. It seems the focus here is how a girl who was a former dude that is a pro gamer trying to live in a harsh war torn world. Everybody she met once before she was carved as a 'soldier' is dead on the wet mud. All she can do is listen to her officer to live and stop their invaders.

The volume explains how if you want to deflect bullets with a sword,spear or bayonet you need to position it were the enemy will shoot since your not faster than a bullet, even Shield magic is useless if you don’t activate it on time. for example spear demon had such a strong sheild it could stop bullets and only grenades could break it meanwhile most armored units can only deflect bullets not stop them. well it didn’t matter either way bc spear demon got sniped by touri in volume 8, he didn’t even know what killed him. It’s sad 😔 he was probably the fastest ace, not to mention he had lighting magic.
