Definitely one of my favorite game openings of all time, by far What always gets me the most are THE PIANO KEYS skittering in the background-it reminds me too much of the beginning of the Guardian Stalker theme from BotW and I think that was intentional. The source of this unnerving feeling is the same force that turned the guardians against Hyrule. I KNEW the four piano keys when Link is reaching for Zelda were important! I didn’t even realize THAT was the reference! Good ear!
@adamsbja Жыл бұрын
I texted my brother "they kept the angry piano!" at that part.
@bluebow5014 Жыл бұрын
I love the phrase “angry piano” It’s more fitting than I realized XD

The Zonai choirs were also in Twilight Princess, in another form. It was one of the first and distinct sounds that we had knew of.
@DaviVasc Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I remember that. Though in that case I don't think it had anything to do with the Zonai. I guess it's just a recurring way to express weird races. In that case it was used for the twilight race.
@hectoruco3073 Жыл бұрын
@@DaviVasc there's this theory that zonai are the originar race that twilies were before they were exhiliated, as if you remember they harvest magic and technology and became arrogant enough to think they could control the triforce

The building up Ganondorf theme on high piano almost sounds like multiple iterations of the melody in different keys, making sure you can't quite make out what's going on until it's fully awakened.

My son and I took a road trip this past weekend. I had made a playlist of random music for us to listen too on our 4 hour trip, but we happened to stumble on your channel and we were completely hooked on your content (especially Hollow Knight). Thanks for the journey through these awesome bits of music!

Wow, what a nice surprise to see your TotK music analysis so soon! The disturbing yet mysterious and somehow mesmerizing atmosphere of the music in the cave gave me goosebumps! I stayed in the cave for a long time, just listening to the music. This often happens to me when I'm playing Zelda games, because bits and pieces of music and memories from previous Zelda series speak to me! Oh, I’m really hooked on TotK. I feel like it has a OoT vibe. Thank you for sharing this :D

I never noticed until you played it on the piano, but isn't the Ganondorf theme you're talking about actually the first six notes of Ghirahim's theme? It's at least EXTREMELY similar.
@willowphoenix5926 Жыл бұрын
It's not quite the same, there are a couple different notes. But you're right, they're very similar.

Theres a really cool comparison between the scene here where the gloom bursts from Gannondorf and the scene in princess mononoke at the start where Ashitaka is attacked by an almost similar force and the music for both scenes sounds really really similar. Its such good composition.

@alexanderdrucker8758 Жыл бұрын
I had just realized this two weeks after the video when i had gone to death mountain. The ganon lick, being the two trios of descending notes is present in the death mountain theme (i think at night). These notes are also towards the end of the theme for the final dungeon in the original legend of zelda being ganon's dungeon. I had thought that this was a new motif for ganondorf but upon figuring out that it was as old of a motif as it could possibly be i kinda facepalmed really hard.

The inverted choral kind of reminds me of a lesser known anime game from years ago called Fairy Fencer F. Specifically the tracks "Ice Cave" and "Unbreakable King" That game actually had some pretty good songs to it since it was the lesser known series from that studio. Deeper in the earth, where they walk downwards at the beginning, where the Zonai voices can't quite reach. So there's just fragments. Most likely coming from what little is left of King Rauru.
