Insane how your videos have such a low view count compared to other chess related videos out there that are mostly memes and jokes. Top notch work, grandmaster King.

Wesley So, future World Chess Champion (classical). Thank you for the series on GM So, they are top notch games and highly instructive.

Love this game. Awesome how Wesley judged the position and proceeded to coordinate his pieces. :)

What an absolute master class in the Sveshnikov. I was pleasantly surprised to see Wesley play Re1 when the slightly more common move in position may have actually been to play Bb4. I give the opposite assessment for Black's...f3 instead of...a6 shortly afterwards. (I don't have the exact position in front of me at the moment so you'll have to forgive the lack of move numbers.) Again, as you so rightly point out, Wesley's positional acumen and continuous manipulation of tension are absolutely superb. Wonderful analysis Daniel.

The game has an Old Indian Defence feel to it. Game suggestion: Kasparov vs Petrosian 0-1, Tilburg 1981

Great commentary. You take it slow to give a real sense of what's at stake jn the game. A lot of chess commentary assumes understanding of a 2400+ player. Delighted to have something engaging for an interested amateur.

Dear Daniel, thank you for a wonderful So-series! My wife and I watch your videos on a daily basis. Right now there is the Russian Championship - over the board - and the young female talent Polina Shuvalova is performing like Beth Harmon: 5/5 until now! She is also reigning World Girls U-20 Champion as well as the World Girl's U18 Champion in 2018 and 2019. Would be great to see an analysis of some of her games. All the best, Gisli (and Audur) from Iceland

@@PowerPlayChess Wonderful to hear that, Daniel. Iceland is, indeed, a beautiful and fascinating country. And with a solid chess tradition compared to its size! (As Willard Fiske wrote about 115 years ago!)

A model game for R+B vs Q! Maybe Black should've played e5-e4 instead of Bf6 hoping to get some kind of pressure on f2?

I wonder if Wesley has a habit of exchanging his queen for active minor pieces - I saw another game of his from 2013 (Reykjavik ?) vs. Dziuba where he did something similar. His opponent expected him to move his queen, but instead he sacrifices it for a positional advantage with stronger minor pieces.

Do you think that Wesley already saw the queen sac after he played Bd3 (and allowed f3)?
@TheChessRunner3 жыл бұрын
He should have f3 was a thematic idea. And you should at least have a decent respons, but I don't think he spent to much time in advance on it. The initial position after the queen sack just looks amazing( and is semi-forced, not that deep) I wouldn't be surprised if gm's call it technical winning. Of course Wesley's technic in this game was as clean as possible. I find it more amazing that his oponnent fell in this varriation. Maybe he has no better moves, but I would guess he has more chances if he builds the attack slower.
@TheChessRunner3 жыл бұрын
I forgot my comment that off course possible that he had an oversight. And had missed something in advance. Super gm's are still only humans after all. But my guess is that he was hoping for f3 and being able to sack his queen. We are humans after all :)

13:00 Is e4 an idea here? Giving another pawn to exchange bishops and thereby fight against white's superb coordination... And it's just a weak pawn that always runs the risk of being blockaded anyway... Edit: I should watch the entire video before commenting, lol.
