i think the person who said "theon, you're a good man" actually *needs* to be not-bran. the scene is powerful because the three-eyed raven sees everything theon has ever done, and still tells him he's a good man. every other time someone says he's good, theon says "you don't know what i've done." the three-eyed raven does know and that's why theon can finally believe it.

The Dothraki are the best horse archers in their world. They should have been split into two flanking forces to harry the sides of the horde, perhaps even taking shots at the NK or his generals if given the chance. Catapults should have been inside the walls from the beginning, firing constantly, until friendly fire becomes unavoidable. They should have had far more archers on the walls too. I personally think that this episode and this final season as a whole gets way more hate than it deserves. Is this episode a 10/10 no, but at least in my opinion it's definitely not the worst episode of the series. One thing I will say about the Dothraki is that, the way that they fight is charging ahead, they don't fight defensively so it wouldn't have made sense for the Dothraki specifically to stay back. If it was the Unsullied, or any of the other soldiers I would agree, but for the Dothraki I'd have to disagree.

Theon's entire story was of a young man who was very inssecure abuot who he was and relied so heavily on his bein heir to the Iron Islands and fantasized he'd be welcomed home with fanfare - only to have tht fantasy crushed. He was told he wasn't a Stark, Told by his family he didn't deserve to be a Greyjoy. He made some very bad choices in the hopes of proving himself to be accepted. Only to come back an arc of redemption and be told "He's a good man" which is all he wanted to hear since S1 E1. The rest of the Battle had beautiful cinematics but so much could be picked apart by a child from battle plans onward.

I don't think the final season was great and it was disappointing in several aspects, but as someone who read all the books, prequels, history books and everything in the universe (most of them multiple times), I think the hate is massively overblown, driven by book reader fanboy outrage and memes. A self fulfilling circlejerk. Not everything is a 10/10 or a 1/10. Seeing Igli shout "eat shit" at the Night King made me smile so much

@@cascade1788they used that as an excuse to claim it's been foreshadowed for years, but that's bs. The plot called for jon v. Night kong but they wanted to "subvert expectations". My biggest letdown is with Corey 53 mins - was that an epic Jon vs Knight King hand to hand didn’t go down. It built up for years, such as Hardhome & 7.6 staredown…you had an amazing stuntman playing the NK & it could’ve looked superb with swordplay. Also if NK had bested Jon, left him laying (not dead) then Arya killing him would’ve meant more. I was disappointed they didn’t even face off.

Unpopular opinion: Jon killing the NK would've been the most boring ending to this plotline. AND: in my opinion he already fulfilled his purpose by bringing everyone to Winterfell. Without him, they wouldn't have survived this. Arya wouldn't have turned around towards Winterfell on her way to KL. The free folk wouldn't have been there, Dany & her army and dragons wouldn't have been there. He. Did. That. (with help of course) And by whinging over the detail that he didn't get to have the final kill, you're belittling all of this yourself. Just sayin.

Yeah everyone was expecting it to happen like that but what this show does well is develop other characters who can come and go at any moment. At the end of the day, the worst part of this episode is how there is just no storytelling. Its just a bunch of fakeout deaths until arya pops outta nowhere and saves the day. Oh no the dragon didn't work... oh no the *insert* didn't work... OMG ARYAS KNIFE WORKED"... Thats literally the whole story of this episode... Why the hell was Bran even important to the night king? What were the stakes? What was the purpose of these white walkers? What the f*ck is the 3-eyed-raven? lol.

I agree with Blake. This was the worst episode of the show. I fooled myself up to this point that the payoff would be worth it, but it wasnt. This episode solidified the idea of plot armor in this show. Sam, Tormund, Pod, Jaime, Brienne, Arya, Sandor, Sansa, Tyrion shouldve all died in this episode. The amount of times seeing one of those characters screaming from the bottom of the pile only to magically be fine the next scene was an insult to the viewers. Wonder if Iglis opinion will change next week when he realizes we lost only a few side characters?

Completely agree with Corey .. when Arya first ended the Night King the feeling was OMG, but after the episode ended the feeling of being let down and is this it? We watched it in real time and had waited almost 2yrs for this season, 8 seasons of winter is coming and the dead come with it was over in an instant. Sam and Jaime still alive but not Jorah?? It took watching reaction videos for me to watch the whole series again and season 8 is still very disappointing. I love this show but they ruined it not only for the fans but the actors also. I def thought I wouldn't cry when Bran said 'Theon.. you're a good man' but it got me .. again haha Jon should have been the one to end the Night King and Arya should have been the one to end Cersei, just like she promised she was going to do.

Why would Jon and the NK fight one-to-one? Did we ever see the NK fight anyone? He commanded the dead and threw spears at dragons, he didn't sword fight. People saying there was no reason for Arya to kill the NK, is as lacking in foresight as saying Dany went mad in one episode - both these things were clearly signposted and built up throughout the entire series. Why would the Dothraki sit back and wait for the dead to arrive? As Igli pointed out, charging and overwhelming their opponents is how they fight. It didn't work this time (nothing would have, so all the marvellous suggestions people make for a different approach are pointless), but naturally they would attack in the only way they knew how. Worst episode of TV ever? ... oh please! 🙄 You can pick out different bits that weren't as you wanted them to be, or how you think they should have gone down, but this is still a brilliant, epic piece of TV. And rejoicing in the 'downfall' (I'm sure they'll be just fine!) of two people who brought you the best TV show in history, just because you didn't enjoy the ending, is unbelievably childish and entitled.
