The man sent to kill Bran looked gaunt and smelled awful because he hid in the stable for weeks without a way to bathe and with very little food. He might have been an average looking guy if he had been clean and nourished.

I'd take Jaime all but chokeslamming Bran out the tower as fairly conclusive proof that he'd be willing to murder a kiddy, at least pre character development.

Agree, but it still is one of the most underestimated choices. if he did not push Bran, and their twincest was discovered and King Robert found out his kids are Jaimes kids, he'd kill them all. So it really is about saving himself, his love and twinsister Cersei and their 3 children, perhaps more family like Tywin and Tyrion if Robert got so mad he wanted to wipe out their line like he did with the Targaryans. I think alot of parents would make the same choice in that situation. And Jaime has alllready killed many men. It is a fairly easy choice for him.

And he muses that he would have killed Arya if he had been the first to find her, because Cersei wanted her dead. Jaime was really effed up at the beginning. Some said he is so slow to make progress, but when you come from so low a point it should take you a lot of time!

I think the ugliness of the cat's paw has nothing to do with his morality, really (yeah, it is not so great to murder a comatose child, but this is a different society, he might even think he'd do Bran a favor like Jaime hinted at) but it is more a sign that he slept in the stables (so if Cat had taken time to take care of matters like a new master of horses, the cat's paw might have been found out!) and that he is low born and desperate- being pretty would not be easy if you had to live as a peasant, among fleas and diseases and manure etc.- very much a contrast to the amazing dagger he wields. Probably a hint that Jeoffrey did it. Because it is all so stupid. Littlefinger was not involved in it (neither was Tyrion).

Hey Schwifty! Love your vids, (and that other guy’s too, I guess) but there’s a thing I disagree with you on here: I don’t think it’s “lazy” for some of the cruel and immoral characters in ASOIAF to look ugly or unattractive. Like you said there are characters that don’t look bad and are still cruel, and some of the noblest characters (like Brienne) are described as very ugly. Also, some “ugly” characters who may be deemed immoral (like Sandor) are more complex and in the end show morality and sometimes kindness. I love your _Abridged_ series, but you tend to complain about this every time a bad character is described as ugly - as if you’re offended by it - and I must say, I don’t see it as an issue at all. Yes, there are a lot of these “uglier” antagonistic characters, but I would say they help to make Jamie and Cersei’s cruelty more impactful and compelling, as they are exceptions to the trope of ugly characters being the bad ones.

I think Joffrey wanted to kill Bran because of the scene where Tyrion slaps him and the hound says that he'll remember that. Joff is too cowardly to attack his own family but it's clear that this hastily assembled assassination plan is because he's mad Tyrion made him lower himself in front of the starks.

Regarding the whole Joffrey and the dagger issue, doesn't Cersei at some point mention Joffrey hearing Robert talking (out of earshot of Ned, obviously) about how living as a cripple would be a terrible life or something along those lines? I have a vague memory of reading that somewhere.

The comment about George being lazy and having the assassin be dirty and ugly is weird to me, because -as far as I know, since I haven't read the books- the vast majority of evil people aren't, as you said with the Lannisters. If he isn't allowed to have one dirty assassin, the opposite problem occurs where dirty people are always good and highborn are always evil.

Yeah when able-bodied people sleep for days in ASOIAF I always wonder, "Where's the pooping?" But then later that was answered when Tyrion slept for days after being seriously injured at the Battle of Blackwater. He did all his pissing and pooping while completely unconscious or barely conscious. I guess with all the post battle patient care back then, wiping people wasn't even a deal.
