Jon Snow was not equipped to kill the NK who would easily raise every dead thing around him before Jon could get to him. Has Jon Snow given any pretense of being able to sneak around? A one on one fight was fairy tale and not going to happen ever.
@johnnyskinwalker40955 жыл бұрын
These writers are paid to create scenarios so that anything is possible. Jon Snow has been fighting the dead since Season 2. They build him vs the NK forever, there should have been a one on one confrontation at the very least. Ice Sword vs Valyrian steel. the main characters with Valyrian steel swords like Jorah, Jaime, Brienne, etc..could have attacked the WW while Jon takes care of the NK and they may have had Arya sneak in there(more logical than jumping out of nowhere). Bran could have distracted the NK more too. The guy can control animals.
@fizzychizzy5 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 As I sad before, Jon Snow did NOT have the ability to kill the NK in the way that was required, essentially stealth. The writers stated that at the beginning of season 5, they knew who they wanted to kill the NK. That means, they knew it would be Arya before Hardhome. There are some things they may have gotten wrong, but having the person that has been trained since season 1 to use stealth and be a warrior as the person that kills the NK is NOT the wrong way to go. It may have subvert expectations regarding general stories of heroism and yet GOT has been doing that the whole time.
@johnnyskinwalker40955 жыл бұрын
they chose Arya as the killer around Season 6, not before Hardhome Also what stealth? Arya teleported away out of nowhere and it was one of the most ridiculous things ever. it is less far fetched that Jon Snow could kill him as he already killed a White Walker. it is also illogical that he did not slap her neck in 5 seconds. Kit's reaction to Jon Snow killing Dany was visceral, but not unexpected. The thing is, (in my opinion) Kit is a method actor; which means he's invested pretty much all of who he is into the character of Jon Snow. You compound that type of acting over an extended period of time (in his case, the time span of 10 years), it isn't hard to consider that it would take its toll on any actor; which kind of explains why there's so many stories now about him checking himself into rehab in Connecticut. Granted, you could probably say that his disposition is rather weak compared to all the other actors but, its like you guys mentioned in the video: since his "resurrection" back in the beginning of Season 6, the majority of the events that have taken place have all really focused on him and the role he now has within the world of Game of Thrones, instead of just being a supporting character like he was before he was killed, putting more pressure on Kit to bring that aspect of complexity that is Jon Snow to the forefront of future episodes and, more so, the series as a whole.

While I saw plenty of story choices in season 8 that I didn’t greatly like or agree with, I could have ignored most and still enjoyed things aside from one. And that’s Danny’s story of becoming the Mad Queen, and how they got to it(I think it’s the same with most others, as it’s was the one mistake that was too much). It’s not the fact that she could be brutal to those who earned her wrath that people had a problem with. She still needed a reason to want to hurt them. In the Bells episode she just starts burning the innocents for the hell of it. It would have been relatively easy to give her an actual reason to do it, but they didn’t bother. It doesn’t even have to be them directly doing something to earn her wrath, just have them be in between her and those she hates. Heck, I thought on first watch that’s what they were setting up with the Jamie going in to get Cersei out subplot. Whether they successfully escape isn’t important, but just have them not be there in the Red keep when Dany arrives to kill Cersei, with her learning they are hidden and escaping the city. NOW you have a reason to start burning the whole city, since she doesn’t know where her enemy is hidden, and the thought of her escaping punishment can be enough to decide that killing Cersei is more important then the safety of the city. Then you haven’t abandoned her character arc, but shown her two aspects at odds(her desire to protect/save the innocent and her desire to make those who wrong her pay and suffer) so that she’s deciding her need to punish those that wrong her wins out. It’s tragic and real, and it makes sense, and you can still have all the horrific reactions by everyone to seeing it. They’re obviously not going to redo season 8, but honestly, if they just added enough to fix that one problem, I think it would make a world of difference.
@sydnitheromantictaylor1125 жыл бұрын
I agree. This would've definitely made her choice make sense. Dan and Dave's explanation made no sense either I feel like they just wanted to go for shock and action and even if GRRM ending is the same it will be more flushed out and since they knew they didn't want more episodes or seasons they should've came up with their own ending that stayed true to how the characters were developed so far.

Glad you guys did this but i think the whole documentary is worth a watch. It really focuses on the crew. I think the Dan & Dave hate wave is tired. I am really shocked that GRRM is not getting more of the focus for the issues people have. When they started GoT, George said he would have the next 2 books finished by the time season 5 rolled around. Two of the highest rated episodes were written by D&D without source material (Battle of the Bastards & The Winds of Winter). I don’t think the issue is talent or lazy writing. They initially wanted do one book a season but compromised on 8 seasons. George didn’t complete his end of the bargain and finish the books. Any story gaps or plot holes are due to D&D working off George’s outline for the ending that he hasn’t flushed out himself yet. This was always supposed to be an adaptation not original material. They didn’t want to deviate too much from his major characters. Why should they drag the show out longer when GRRM keeps churning out everything but the two books he’s supposed to write?
@SuzakuX5 жыл бұрын
I can tell you haven't read the books because you clearly don't understand just how much material was left unadapted. They did one season for _A Game of Thrones,_ one season for _A Clash of Kings,_ two seasons for _A Storm of Swords,_ and then compressed *all* of _A Feast for Crows_ and _A Dance with Dragons_ into a *single* season. Even though, combined, those two books are _nearly_ *twice* as long as _Storm._ That's not even mentioning all the material they cut or completely changed from _Game,_ _Clash,_ and _Storm_ in the first place. We know that Martin expects the final two books to clock in at over 3,000 pages combined, meaning the final two books are going to account for about 40% of the entire series. So let me break this down very precisely: D&D adapted the first 2,450 pages (books 1-3) into 40 episodes (seasons 1-4) and then crammed the next 1,750 pages (books 4-5) into just 10 episodes (season 5), then attempted to wrap up the next 3,000+ pages worth of story (books 6-7) in just 23 episodes (seasons 6-8). Let me show you the percentages if that doesn't paint a clear enough picture for you: Books 1-3 (35% of the story) adapted into Seasons 1-4 (54% of the show). Books 4-7 (65% of the story) adapted into Season 5-8 (46% of the show). Look at those ratios and it should be obvious why the show started to go downhill after Season 5. They took the story of the first three books and adapted _pretty faithfully_ into the first 40 episodes of the show. They then took the next 80 episodes worth of story and crammed it into 23 episodes. If they had kept the same pace as the first four seasons, the show *should* have run for 12 ten-episode seasons. It should be something like seasons 5-7 = _Feast + Dance,_ 8-10 = _Winds,_ 10-12 = _Dream._

Red Sparrow I’m reading now (not very far - almost done with the first book) and actually amazed that some Hollywood executive sent it to Benioff to adapt for a screenplay. I don’t think this would have done well as movies. I can see both sides as I’m reading. There are things that I wished would have made it in and other things that I’m glad didn’t. Glad we got more of Rob in the show as I can’t believe he didn’t have a POV chapter and I wonder why we didn’t get to see characters like Jeyne Poole. There are so many other characters, I don’t think there is any way they could have really put them all in. From an interview that I saw GRRM basically wanted to do the way you described above and have about 13 seasons but D&D wanted to do a book a season. They compromised on 8 seasons.

Watching Kit Harrington here is so sad. All those years of hard work and emotional attachment to this show - only to be shat on by vicious fandom when it's all over. It's disgraceful and makes me cringe. No wonder he is going through stuff now. I have sympathy for Kit but not as much as I have for Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner who got shitted on this entire season for choices made by the writers including misogynistic men attacking Maisie for her character killing the NK. They were literal children. At least Kit was an actual adult when this start. Kit doesn't have to read thousands of comments about his physical appearance all the time and how unattractive he is or how fat he is. And this show has been their entire formative years, from like age 12 to 22+ years old. And to be frank, Arya's character was very much a large role during the run of this show. Arya, Dany, and Jon were the pivotal three. That is a lot of pressure to put on a young girl. God only knows how she is coping at the moment.

IMO, THE REAL FINALE WAS EPISODE 3!! Doing my own GoT reactions on my channel has been near the top of my bucketlist for a few years, but deteriorating health & bad tech equipment has restricted me from doing them. I started trying to record them this season, with 8x01 & 02 recordings being fucked up & unuseable, and after barely getting a visible 8x03, I watched The Bells, heartbroken, enraged, confused, and no longer motivated to do reactions. I have still not seen the finale, after hearing how badly they fucked over the characters, even after they committed character assassination on Dany, I just felt no urge to ruin the series even more for myself. Very very depressing end to one of the best series in history...

It's so odd to watch them standing and chatting like normal people. Emilia Clarke's eyebrows need their own star, they are so mobile and expressive. Kit's reaction to Jon's killin of Daneyris is classic. I still think the ending of GoT was appropriate because Jon would have been a weak king and the North was where he was happiest. Queen Sansa deserves story(stories) of her own because she would have been formidable. Bron is where he can do the most good and his lack of action is his way of having the other character doing what they do without him joggling their elbows, ruining the outcome. Arya the Hero off travelling and expending all her energy in doing what she wants.
