I believe the last episode will be centered around the _Black Council._ And we will get the 'Black's response' to what has happened in King's Landing with the Green Council centered episode. I believe, Rhaenys just wanted to REMIND them of how Aegon I conquered the continent with DRAGONS and the damage they can do. The Greens do have the OLDEST most _battle hardened_ dragon but they don't have AS MANY dragons at their disposal as do the 'Blacks'! The thing is, they have ALL been conditioned to seek POLITICAL solutions instead of thinking like a DRAGON: _Conquest!_ Only Daemon & Aemmon get that they are DRAGONS at heart! *_Alicent thought, I will sit my son on the Throne and that's it! The 'Queen that never was' showed her that that is NOT SO, she in fact has started something she cannot control!_*

There’s a lot of parallels to end of season 1 of Game of thrones, Rhaenys being told to swear fielty to the new king while being imprisoned kinda like Ned stark, and her walking in Kingslanding amongst the crowd and being lead like a commoner to the coronation kinda like Arya and the ominous feeling you had through all that knowing some hell was about to break loose, felt so nostalgic.

I love how this episode really added weight to Otto claim that Aegon WOULD be made king. And he was right. Even if Viserys had said nothing, Otto would have still installed Aegon as king within the day. He's been babysitting the throne for decades, waiting for the second Viserys kicked the bucket. It also shuts down all those people that thought the entire war would begin with some miscommunication. Viserys' confused dying words just meant Alicent didn't need to be locked in her room too while Otto worked to install Aegon.

It’s also NOT a miscommunication, not entirely. Ep 3 at the hunt Viserys expresses his doubts TO Alicent about choosing Rheanyra as heir. He tells her about the dream of Aegon taking the throne. It’s not that big of a leap for Alicent to think on his deathbed he’s expressing his regret and wants to make a change.

Alicent even acknowledged it in Ep 7 when she said Rhaenyra would make a good queen at The Last Supper. Then she heard The King's heroin riddled last thoughts and thought they were meant for her. It is a complete miscommunication. It only works because of the King's moment of doubt years ago and Alicent's lowkey desire to be the Mother of the King.

Despite Alicent taking advantage of Viserys a lot in their marriage, she did genuinely love him in a way without a doubt. Whenever he was sick or ill she took very good care of him for years and as Steven said, they did have 3 children together and probably spent lots of time together in the first years of their marriage. Plus, when Alicent was placing the crown on Viserys’s head and sobbed, I don’t think her tears were fake at all because she was alone in the room. All of the priests and septons left the room and after they left she sobbed, meaning that she must’ve felt some affection for her husband during their 20 years.

I would have expected Alicent to be fully behind her son, but I like and understand the hesitation. Her whole holier-than-thou act is conflicting with all her plans and desires. Her father has shaped into a weapon, not a person. She was the good girl, but now she is becoming a reluctant villain, but still a villain. She remains her father's servant, as Rhaenys knew she would.

Its important to understand that giving the throne to Aegon was the plan all along (hand and some council members). Alicent 'hearing' the Kings last request to do this only convinced her it was the right thing, but it would have happened even without her blessing.

First of all, Olivia was a beast in the episode. The way she show her emotions between anger, love, duty and honor... Im glad, they are exploring more layers of Alicent (obvious team black fans will always see her as villain). Alicent did care for the king, i dont believe she was faking her emotions... unlike Cersei (to some extend did care about Robert), she wasnt abuse by her husband. Despite he love his first wife, he did try to have some sort of marriage with Alicent. In the end, he was her company and somehow he never try to made her something else. I also like, that after all, she did triy to protect Rhaenyra and her kids.

I don't think him asking, "do you love me?" was meant to be so mysterious. His father just died and he never knew if he loved him because he never showed it. He's asking his mom because she's still alive and doesn't want to wait until she's on her deathbed. He even expresses this when he tells her he tries so hard to live up to what his father and Alicent want, but it's never enough. I believe this is the biggest difference between Rhaenyra and Alicent. Rhaenyra's kids don't have to question her love. Alicent is upset because she's being used as a pawn, but she allows it to happen and treats her children like pawns herself. So much so they question her love for them.

@@MrFredstt I don't believe any of them feels like she truly loves them. Alicent was also a child when she had them. And from what we saw, it didn't look like she gave them a lot of affection when they were younger. Most of their actions are a direct reflection of herself, which is why they behave the way they do. Alicent was a pawn in her father's game, yet she subjects her children to the same treatment and trauma because she's a coward who can't think for herself. She caters to the very system that hates her. When she said she wanted an eye for an eye, that had nothing to do with Aegon and everything to do with Rhaenyra, which is why he says at least he got a dragon. It was never her choice to be queen, and even though she knows Aegon doesn't want the throne, she puts him there. Despite the fact that he is a horrible human being. She's seen this his whole life, but continues to be wilfully ignorant because she can't go through life without men making decisions for her. As for Helaena, I would say it's the same because they ignored her. It appears to me that they only tolerate her. She can also see the future, so I would assume from what she knows she might feel like her mother hates her because her decisions eventually cause their downfalls.

I feel compelled to mention that Ramin Djawdi once again just knocked it right out of the park. I love that for 90% of the episode he just continued building on the same theme the piano laid out in the beginning of the episode. Reminded me a lot of Light Of the Seven. Speaking of GoT... are you planning to react to Interview With the Vampire? I have been truly blown away by Jacob Anderson's (Grey Worm) acting range and ability which he never got to fully display on Thrones. It's a freaking awesome show!

I love how the « beast under the boards » applies to Aegon too. During the search for Aegon, they emphasized how a monster he is and no one in his family know how f*cked up he really is except Haelena. That look of disgust and fear when he is getting crowned tells everything you need to know about what kind of King he will become. I hope the spy girl isn’t dead, just so we can see Alicent’s face when sur will discover her son tosses her grandchildren in to a fighting pit to get them killed 😬

The King told Alicent in a earlier episode( episode 3 I think) about his own dream/prophecy about putting his son on the iron throne. He told his first wife the same prophecy in the first episode.He was having regrets about naming his daughter his heir. Alicent assumed that the dream the king was talking about was his own dream. That’s why she didn’t question it.

The thing is though, when he was talking to Alicent on his deathbed he said "Aegon..", Alicent then asked, "Our son?", to which Viserys said, "HIS dream...". Viserys didn't say MY dream. Also, while Visery's did express doubt to Alicent about Rhaenyra being his heir when Aegon was a baby, he swore to Rhaenyra that she was his heir (even admitting to her that he had wavered) later in the same episode and from then on made it clear to everyone that she was his heir. Aegon said it best, "And my father father never wanted this. He had twenty years to name me heir, he never did. Steadfastly he upheld Rhaenyra's claim." So, Viserys "steadfastly" upholding Rhaenrya as his heir since Aegon was a baby AND him drinking Milk of the poppy that confused him (something Alicent was FULLY aware of) points to her not questioning Viserys wanting Aegon to be king a stretch.

Visery loved all his children. He stated that in episode 8 at the family dinner. But he loved Rhaenyra more because of his love for Rhaenyra’s mother Queen Aemma who was Visery greatest love. Aegon never felt he was loved by his parents. Visery was neglectful and Alicent was demanding and critical.He never felt worthy. But she got in front of him when the dragon appeared thus showing her love and protection of him even though she knew he was not a good choice. I thought it was interesting looking at Aemond and Helena reaction to Aegon being crowned.

My one nitpicky complaint about this episode is that the writers seem to forget how the line of succession works. Aemond is not next in line. If he disappear (or dies) the crown passes to his son, Jaehaerys. Otto would rule as regent until he's of age. Aemond is third in line.

I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept the much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It feels more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble. *Tfw u only support our Green Lives Matter King for extermination of Strong Boys cause ur pro Valeryian blood supremacy jk.*

Well it may sound stupid but she could not just kill them like that. For everyone witnessed, Rhaenys appeared with her dragon, killed a bunch of innocent people and burned the King, the Hand, the Queen, Lord Commander of the King’s Guard, the Prince and Princess. It would be treason and made the Lords and the citizens take the Green side. What will the Green without all the aforementioned people? Alicent and Viserys still have another son, Daeron who spent all his life up to now in Oldtown. We still have house Hightower with their lord who would definitely avenge his brother/ niece/ niece’s children. Their house is located in the Reach so they might convince House Tyrell to their side with what happened. House Lannister and House Tully (they mentioned Riverrun as an ally) would probably take the Green side too. House Stark, House Arryn and House Baratheon might take a neutral side, but if they took a side, the Green would be a more likely choice because of the blatant treason Rhaenys committed. And god knows what House Martell and House Greyjoy would do. All in all, you would make 3+ kingdoms out of the 7 to war against you, might be even 4 or 5 if the neutral ones started to take side if Rhaenys decided to kill them right there.

I dont get why do people still think Alicent killed the handmaiden. Look guys, the show is def not shy about portraying people doing bad stuff. Not just hinting at it, but showing. Like Daemon stoning his first wife. If they wanted us to think she killed her, they would have at least shown her body or something at the end of the episode. They would have been more specific, thats something that would have been important for the audience to see and understand.
