1:08:28 I know you probably won’t know this, but at this time the Mad King, Viseyrs (Dany’s brother) and the other Targaryen’s in the family didn’t have dragons at this time, Danny was the first of the Targaryens in a looooong time to somehow get her dragons. And Dany was born pretty much at the same time her father was about to be killed by Jamie. She didn’t know her father or any other members of her family pretty much other than Viserys, i don’t think she should be blamed for what her ancestors did when she barely even met them or lived among them

Bro,all histories and lore are safe following their respective seasons. They were all made with the idea of watching after their season. So H&L totally safe through S4. All the stuff mentioned is the H&L videos is mentioned in the books or in the history books. It may feel like real history because GRRM based all of his cultures and most of the history on real history. Valyria = Rome, Dothraki = Mongolians (khan), Westeros = medieval England, Dorne = Spain, Iron Islands = Vikings and so on. Keep in mind, also like real history, the ASOAIF/GOT histories are written/told by biased sources. It’s not objective fact. The more of these videos you watch, you’ll see the same stories told from opposite povs.

I love that you heard Ned's back story. He was not meant to be running Winterfell, as he was a boy when the Mad king did him wrong. Then you realized why Ned " didn't make the same mistake", and question Jamie's honor. Ned kind of said ' I am not a monster, I'm the one monsters run from'. I hope you see it in the boys he raised. Elin (sp?) Paine actor left early as he was diagnosed with cancer. Joffrey called Tywin out on sitting out the war and how his father was the victor. That was when he sent the king to bed. Robert Baratheon’s granny was also a Targaryen Princess. His father was first cousin to the Mad King and was tasked with finding a suitable wife for Rhaegar. Aerys didn’t trust anyone with sharp objects around him beside his Kings Guard. His nails were long and his hair was long. He also cut himself a lot on the Iron Throne so was full of scabs. Daenerys is know as ‘Daenerys Storm-born’ due to the storm on the night of her birth. Remember, there were no dragons during the time of the Mad King.

There's a theory (and it is indirectly insinuated in the books) that the Faceless Men are the ones that brought the Doom of Valyria. The Faceless Men originated as slaves of Valyria who used the gift of death to wage war on their Valyrian masters. Then they fled to help found the city of Braavos.

It depends on interpretation i think. Saying they "later brought death to the masters aswell" can also just be them killing the guys who commanded in the mines or on the ships on which the slaves who would create braavos were. But yes i like the theory and believe it's likely what happened.

In my mind, “justice” is fairly quick in Westeros. There’s no such thing as a “ 20 year jail sentence”. Jail is just where they keep you to await trial, or await sentencing. The sentence itself is usually definitive… (life or limb or the Wall).

Viserys is a horrible person but its clear his paranoia and madness stemmed from both being under his father’s influence, but all the loss he went through. His mother died giving birth to Dany, and at the age of 5 had to figure out how to make ends meet and be able to feed snd keep his baby sister alive. Running and never staying in one place due to Robert’s Assasins. Feeling the weight of a 300 year old dynasty on his shoulders to avenge all his baby cousins and his mother’s suffering. Dany’s view of Westeros comes solely from Viserys because he’s all she had. She genuinely loved him, despite his abuse. And because Viserys instilled in her that she would never had a home nor safety unless they took back their throne and were able to live in their homeland they would never be safe. Dany’s never felt safe, and that is the only idea of safety she’s had. The idea that taking a throne would give her the safety and sense of belonging she needs.

Also just to point out. Not a single person in the Targaryen family liked Aerys except for Viserys. Even Rhaegar had promised Jaime that things would change before leaving for battle, insinuating that he would overthrow his father himself bcus Rhaegar was actually likesble and honorable. Because of Aerys the other Targaryens-who were known to be the subject of his abuse whenever he went mad had to die brutally and unfairly. Aerys had everyone under his thumb. Ned was right to be against that innocent killing and Viserys and Daenerys are right for hating the Lannisters and Baratheons for that genocide.

THIS is why Game of Thrones is my favorite TV series ever, the author of the original book series (George RR martin) literally created this whole world himself. All of the history we’re being told right now, the houses, the wars that were fought, the people who did legendary things are all made up by George and the way he was able to create this fantasy world and make it so in depth that we could talk about this like REAL history is just incredible. In the books , Jaime trains with Payne. Because he had no tongue he couldn't tell anyone how bad Jaime was as a swordsman. Also Jaime could reveal his deepest secrets. Makes more sense than having Bron fill that role.

The difference between Jaime and Loras is that Loras is actually the second son so he isn't the heir to house Tyrell. Jaime was the heir and stripping him of his title would force Tywin to choose someone else.

Some clarification on the religions, since I'm not sure you got it: Faith of the Seven is one religion in which the God is seen to appear in seven forms. Those forms were listed on this video. The Drowned God and the Lord of Light (Melisandre's religion) are entirely separate things, they're not part of those seven forms. When people in Westeros refer to the "new gods", they generally mean "the seven gods", as opposed to the old gods that trace back all the way to the children of the forest. The Andal conquers brought Faith of the Seven in Westeros, but that was so long ago that you could consider it one "traditional" religion of Westeros, and certainly the dominating one. Meanwhile, Melisandre's religion started spreading from the East far more recently. As we've seen, Melisandre despises all the other religions. When we first meet Stannis, he is burning the idols representing the Seven on Melisandre's initiative. Melisandre keeps saying things like "The seven pointed star (basically the bible of Faith of the Seven) is a book of lies" and "There's only one God (the Lord of Light)."

The lore videos presenting events from different perspectives really highlights the fact that the "unreliable narrator" trope is used a TON in this series. Every single character is human in the full sense of the word -- they are all flawed, all have their own biases, and all seek to further their own goals. Even supposedly honorable and trustworthy characters are often wrong about things or just straight up lie for one reason or another. You can't fully depend on any character to be telling the whole, unadulterated truth.

Remember house of dragon Damond was shown a vision from the wierwood trees of who was meant to be on the thrown, those trees have magical ties which is why I believe the targarian’s went and tried to take the throne (unfortunately it wasn’t good methods) but maybe that was their drive. And like you said they had the mind set they are the chosen ones. They were meant to unite the kingdoms against those white walkers and instead I believe their ego’s prevented this in a way. They made enemies instead of allies.

The faith of the 7 btw, is Christianity, more specifically the medieval Catholic Church. The book writer was raised Catholic. The “first men” were pre-Roman Germanic barbarians. The old gods is comparable to ancient Celt/Norse religion (which Christianity would integrate much from to convert Europe later on).

The first Baratheon, Orys, was Aegon the Conqueror's half brother. Robert's own grandmother was a Targaryean as well, thats what gave him a claim to the throne.

Valyrians were basically poor farmers before they conquered dragons. The. They built the Valyrian empire off of dragons and slaves. No one know show exactly. Many rumors of dark magic learned from Ashaii and experiments. Experiments that might have cause Ms the “Doom” The Targaryens were one small family of the empire. The only survivors because they left before “the doom” (real life comparison is Pompeii). No one knows what caused the doom, but the misery of the Valyrian slaves birthed the “Faceless men” and their worship of the god of death. Later, the “free city” of Bravos is built on the Faceless men and the iron bank. The free cities are known as such for being free of the grip of Valyria.

She literally claims she wants to "break the wheel"... and then goes on to use force/dragons to ensure her power just liker her ancestors and kill those not willing to bend to her just like everyone else. I will say the Targaryens don’t have great history. But it was not the WHOLE family. The legends and lore only talk about the mad king and the battle that lost them the throne. There were several hundred years with peaceful Targaryens. They had a small hand of bad apples including Aegon, Maegar the Cruel and then king Aerys the mad king. There’s hundred years about between them where the rulers weren’t tripping.

Filming locations for GoT include Ireland (for Starks), Iceland (beyond the wall) and I think other locations were Croatia...maybe Spain? And yes, it is possible to see British actors around London because it's quite a tight knit city. You can walk between train stations for example.
