I would honestly LOVE if you could break down Cersi and Tyrion's relationship. There is hate but also this mutual respect that I find fascinating! You see it best during that scene at 11:04 . I thought for certain she would kill him, but she held back. She allows Tyrion to talk to her in ways she would NEVER allow others to talk to her.. and I've always wondered why. Even in the battle of Blackwater it wasn't Cersi who ordered the hit on him, even though she spells out every reason she wants him dead (constantly), but Jeoffry. Please do this topic~! I'd love it!

Miki Miyazaki how was he arrogant he wanted a confession. He didn’t think of himself as better. He wasn’t thinking now I won he wanted that confession. Throughout the whole fight he repeated those same words. The only difference is that he wasn’t being attached so he let his guard down and focused solely on that confession, not his possible victory, not on the fact that his opponent was on the floor but only the fact that he was still alive and had the ability to confess which is what he wanted

@Miki Miyazaki He knew there was a definite chance he wasn't going to win that fight or else he wouldn't have dipped his spear in a horrible poison. He wanted to make sure that if he lost, Gregor died in screaming agony no matter what. I need to reread what he used. Obyrn mastered poisons at the citadel, so it must have been the nastiest he could concoct.

Oberyn talking about how he appreciated both genders made me think "huh, that makes sense" and I realised I was bi, later evolving into pan. I'm not expecting special treatment, just equal treatment which a lot of LGBTQ+ people are lacking. It was in brackets for a reason, and brackets can be overlooked. Die mad about it I guess. Btw, by saying you're against gays (which is what you're saying, don't hide behind any excuses) I'm therefore going to assume you're straight. Thank you for your thoughts on Cersei. In the her bookchapters she details how she and Jamie would trade places as children and when they grew older she never understood why suddenly he was allowed to do the "fun" stuff while she was constantly guarded and reglemented. Up to the point when she gets real political power I felt nothing but sympathy. however, once she has to opportunity to affect "real" change (e.g. getting Tommen to change inheritance laws so women actually can command property by default and not only when they are the last option, women carrying on family names, etc.), she doesn't go for it. In the books it is clear that she is only sad for her OWN disadvantages because of the partiarchy. She thinks little of other women as she is a true narcissist. That's when she lost me.

The Living Mountain was actually damned smart and clever, and was a talented cavalry commander and vanguard disciplinary. Calling him stupid when his career was wildly successful, repeatedly catching forces off guard and fighting his way out of ambushes, successfully preserving the manpower of his unit, avoiding and retreating from poor odds and engaging when in his favor, is a bit of a lie. His failure to hamper down on the Brotherhood is far from a mark against him, seeing as how modern forces aren't that much better.

The Mountain surprisingly shows little personality in his thirst for blood and violence, just rage and disdain for human life altogether, which makes him an more ferocious dumb brute of the sort. Is it just me that sees an excellent comparison between Gregor Clegane and Luca Brasi from The Godfather. Both are savage sadistic killers, both take orders from only one person Gregor with Tywin Lannister and Luca Brasi with Vito Corleone, both are arguably their said boss’s most powerful “enforcers”, both are very tall and physically imposing men, both have killed a child at least once, both have killed members of their own family, both are not very intelligent, both rarely speak unless spoken to, both are feared by nearly everyone who encounters them. Might be a bit far fetched but I think it’s a good comparison

In the scene where The Mountain kills Oberyn Martell, you can see how each of the Lannisters reacts to it. Tyrion and Jaime are disgusted by the scene and look away from it. Tywin doesn't like it but continues to watch. Meanwhile, Cersei watches and seems to even enjoy it. Each of their distinct reactions show how they view the violence inherent in the world of Westeros. Jaime and Tyrion don't like it and will try to find ways to mitigate the use of violence. Tywin accepts that violence is part of this world but will use it only when it is necessary or most effective. Cersei, on the other hand, prefers to use violence even when it isn't the best course of action. It's fascinating how the overbearing violence of that scene gives the viewers a subtle look into the personality of each Lannister.

Great video, but you overlooked one thing (granted, it's also never adressed in the show): In the books, the Gregor has a birth defect, where his brain is a little too large for his skull. Because of it, he experiences constant, agonizing migranes (thus, his drinking) which drive him completely mad because he's unable to sleep for days unless he drinks himself into a stupor. The last line in the vid about him being a ball of constant pain is therefore exactly on the money.^^"

In the video essays that Lindsey Ellis made critizicing the horrible writing of the show on it's final season, she said something that I think is true: Cleganebowl is poetic justice for Gregor, but it does not work for Sandor. Not anymore. He is still "missing" in the books, yet when he comes back, because he will, it won't make sense that he will still pursue the revenge that has been eating him from the inside all those years. If he does come back, as he did in the show, it will come off as a pointless endeavor. And we know that George R.R. Martin is far more fond of storytelling and thematic narratives than those cynical Benioff and Weiss, so I believe in him, that he won't be doing Cleganebowl for fanservice like it did in the show, for he is indeed interested on telling the Hound's story.

The Hound is much different than his brother and has been from the start. He was constantly trying to save Sansa and did save Sansa many times and even helped Arya even though the bitch left him for dead. Most of the anger came from the hound killing that boy in book 1 even though you know he was commanded to. Also, "there is no true knight". Best male fictional character ever.

15:45 Baloney, he just likes violence, he is a sadist, there is no moral reason behind what he does. He is very evil, the Lannisters give him the opportunity to do what he likes doing most. They feed his lust for cruel sadism by giving him hapless victims to torture. They make up the laws and this protects him so he can keep doing what he likes. He is just a monster. If he is howling in pain now it's only because now he's in hell.

I generally like this video but I take issue with a few points. Cersei isn’t necessarily a victim of the world because she’s a woman. She’s simply the embodiment of a entitled rich kid who FEELS everything is unfair to her. I say this because the story goes in hard about how she feels mistreated for being a born a girl vs Jamie born male; however the story subverts this a little by detailing how hard and unstoppable Jamie’s drive was in becoming a knight (he would train for hours everyday since he was a child) and no one was going to stop him being who he was. This is mirrored in Arya and Brienne. Cersei on the other hand demands accolades and honors being handed to her...she’s never actually worked for anything. And on the love of cruelty comparisons made I feel this grossly oversimplifies Tywin. Tywin doesn’t enjoy hurting people, he’s simply pragmatic about the end goals. At one point in the story he mentions his greatest achievement is that he only had to commit an act like Reigns of Castamere only once. He didn’t enjoy it but rather enjoys the fact people take him seriously and he doesn’t have to visit atrocities onto other people needlessly. Edit: and even Cersei’s marriage to Robert, she sells it after the fact like she was “sold” to him. She WANTED Robert, he was a tall, handsome, young knight who was also the lord of a famous castle. He was basically a celebrity and she wanted to be his wife...those feelings didn’t last of course and now acts as if she never wanted it.

Well said. Even if she is a woman she will have more opportunities than other women to do things being a Queen but we have seen women be rewarded for hard work in GoT before, such as Yara replacing Theon as Balon was disappointed in Theon. In the book, he has constant headaches...so the guy is probably super addicted to both milk of the poppy AND alcohol (nothing else is stronger in the world of Westoros anyhow). Would explain his constant rages and being set off completely by small things. (Someone mentions that he killed one of his own men in a rage because he was snoring HARD.) Also possibly explains why he's so huge (a ball of muscle and rage) - possibly a brain abnormality with human growth hormone. His background was that his father and mother were nothing, but managed to help the Lannisters and they got a small piece of land in return. That's why both brothers are pledged to help the Lannisters in their own way. As for The Mountain 2.0? It's implied that he has extra organs in the books (Cersei delivered prisoners to Qburn and basically he harvested organs from them). That's why he's nigh unkillable - two people managed to stick him in the chest and nothing happened. It also seems that he lost higher functions like speech and the ability to reason (not that his baseline intelligence was anything to write home about) - so the limits on his muscles may have been bypassed (he was able to push the character into the wall and splat his brains into it)... The Cleganebowl that happened was decent. Both brothers seem to have been enjoying inflicting pain on each other, and Sandor finally pushes him off into the burning/ruined city.
