Awesome reaction Rangers, As you can see the dialogue is key...yes like you said Theon wanted to pay the farmer in gold...but of course the farmer and his wife were killed as well.😭 Varys has his "Little Birds" a/k/a little spies singing songs to him in Esso too... Fun Fact: Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) is 6'3" she also plays the role of Captain Phasma in StarWars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Episode 9 is Next so get ready Rangers... Enjoy!🦌🐺🐉🦁

Cat's decision is actually a lot less stupid than it initially comes off as. Her choice was simple, and it came down to the mood of the Stark bannermen, which had reached boiling points by then. If Jaime was left in their hands for another night, they would've killed him. If Jaime died, there was no chance of seeing her daughter (daughters plural in her mind) ever again. A desperate Hail Mary is still better than no chance at all.

The 3 men Jaime thought might beat him in a fair fight were probably Ser Barristan Selmy (widely acknowledged as the greatest swordsman still living, although past his prime), Loras Tyrell the Knight of Flowers (the rising star) and either the Mountain or the Hound at #3 (it's hard to say which brother is considered better)
@Baratheon.2 жыл бұрын
doubting on loras. both Cleganes would monster him imo. Jaime's knowledge of fighter's is mostly limited to King's Landing and Westerlands, along with some tournament fighter's. He's not aware of some elite level fighter's like Oberyn for example. Also they seemed to have given Lord Stark (dead), and Stannis Baratheon fighting buffs for show purposes, so I wouldn't be surprised if Jaime thinks Stannis is a high caliber swordsman too.
@neospock50342 жыл бұрын
@@Baratheon. I understand the doubt, but Loras did defeat the Mountain in a tournament joust (which enraged the big man, resulting in a decapitated horse) and it was stated that Loras unseated Jaime in an earlier tournament. So he shouldn't be dismissed, although Brienne beat him. I think his specialty is the lance and his brother is better with a sword? Agreed Jaime isn't accounting for elite warriors from other regions like Khal Drogo, Daario Naharis and Oberyn.
@Baratheon.2 жыл бұрын
@@neospock5034 Yeah I agree, just i remember they say in the books that Loras is an excellent rider, and this translates to why his jousting ability is so good. Hound had to step in to stop his brother from murdering Loras at that tournament, so I view his dueling or 1v1 combat skill not as good as the specialized skills he possesses. Jaime would be in terrible shape by the time he has that duel with Brienne, 1 year chained to cell, mal-nourished, weak, no physicality and of course no armor
@neospock50342 жыл бұрын
@@Baratheon. I think Loras would fare better in a fight against Jaime where there isn't such a huge disadvantage on physical strength like there is versus the Clegane brothers. it would come down to skill and quickness, and I think Loras in his 20s is just as strong and probably quicker than 40-something Jaime. While I'd expect Jaime to still win, it would be close because he's not up against a huge, clumsy opponent.
@eurongreyjoy10082 жыл бұрын
@@neospock5034 when the story begins there is noone who can take jaime 1v1. loras is not even close to jaime he looses badly. jousting has nothing to do with 1v1 fight. loras is not even close to his brother who is below jaime

Lady Catelyn has made two huge decisions in the show so far; seizing Tyrion in season 1 and releasing Jaime in this episode. What do you make of her ability to make big decisions? How smart is she?
@markharris11252 жыл бұрын
Remember, trading Jaime for the girls was Tyrion's plan, not Littlegfinger's. Do we believe that Tyrion will keep his word? If Cat does, it explains why she'd take the chance.

Cat didn’t release Jaime because LF played her. Tyrion made a trade. And Tyrion send LF to make the broker the deal. She spend time with Tyrion. She knows he is at least a bit trustworthy

As far as the three men that Jaime thinks could beat him: one is definitely Ser Barristan, the former Kingsguard who Joffrey fired. One is probably the Mountain, Ser Gregor Clegane. Its tough to say who the third is, my guess is it is either the Hound or Ser Loras Tyrell.

"The realization chilled him. Robert had been stronger than him, to be sure. The White Bull Gerold Hightower as well, in his heyday, and Ser Arthur Dayne. Amongst the living, Greatjon Umber was stronger, Strongboar of Crakehall most likely, both Cleganes for a certainty. The Mountain’s strength was like nothing human. It did not matter. With speed and skill, Jaime could beat them all."

1) No Ranger intro? 2) Let's see.... Barristan Selmy, the Mountain, and the Hound. These three living warriors can beat Jaime. Sir Arthur Dayne taught Jaime how to fight. He was the best swordsman that ever lived from the Seven Kingdonms. Ned could have matched Jaime as well. Loras beat him once in a tournament, and I thinik Jorah Mormont beat him in another tournament. Jaime will never admit that Loras could beat him again, and Jorah is in Essos, no longer in the Seven Kingdoms. 3) Tywinn Lannister said it best when he asked Arya: "Has anyone ever told you you are too smart for your own good?" Manipulating Jaqen H'ghar was pretty smart! 4) Varys is this world's version of the internet! His world-wide web of spies keeps him up to date almost in realtime! 5) Wildfire is a little like, in our world in the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans, there was Greek Fire. It was a bit like napalm, which not only sticks to you, but spreads when you try to put it out. In this case, wildfire had been around for a while. Mad King Aerys used to dip knights in their armor into huge vats of burning wildfire just to watch them roast in their armor. Robb Stark's uncle died that way even as his grandfather died trying to save him. (That event caused Ned and Robert to march against the king, and eventually led to Jaime stabbing the king in the back, earning him the nickname Kingslayer, and placed Robert as King.) It is said that if you peed on burning wildfire, the flame will climb up the stream and burn your "parts" right off!! 6) Robb and Catelyn: "Love is the death of duty!" Maester Aemon said that to Jon Snow... The words rang true even as Ned "confessed" in order to save his kids. And now with Cat, and Robb casting duty aside in the name of love. Fun reactions and fun discussion! Thank you!

"Barristan Selmy, the Mountain, and the Hound. " Nah.... Barristan Selmy, The Red Viper and one other - perhaps Greatjon Umber - Jaime does refer to him on occasion in the books As far as the Mountain and the Hound, there is a specific passage in A Storm of Swords where Jaime says "...Strongboar of Crakehall most likely, both Cleganes for a certainty. The Mountain's strength was like nothing human. It did not matter. With speed and skill, Jaime could beat them all..." Who knows who the third is.... it could be the Crannogman Howland Reed for all we know!

@@eurongreyjoy1008 When he says "I can take them all", he was specifically referring to the list of names he had given and the Mountain and the Hound were on that list. Barristan Selmy was not on that list. The Red Viper was also not on the list and although Jaime had never seen him fight, he certainly had a reputation. I do agree that his position as one of the three is speculative, but given that we don't know who the three are, there is nothing wrong with speculation.
@eurongreyjoy10082 жыл бұрын
@@roostewrum im pretty sure jaime believes dayne>selmy and both of them obviously>>oberyn so im pretyy sure he means all of them. you dont except from a writer to put 20-30 names there. i dont mind speculations but its hard to believe he would think that someone who hasnt seen can beat him only by the reputation
@roostewrum2 жыл бұрын
@@eurongreyjoy1008 When he says "there are only 3 men alive" the Sword of the Morning had been long dead so is automatically not included in the three. When he says "I could take all of them" he was talking about the people he had just named, which included the Mountain and Hound among others, but did not include Barristan the Bold. While, yes it is hard to believe, the fact remains the Viper had killed many many dozens of (mostly) professional fighters in Essos. Is he one of Jaime's three? Who knows, but he is a valid consideration.
