I think the point is that Dark Raiden is not the ideal version of Raiden. We got the idea of what a hardened, cold Raiden could be when Sonya died. That was enough to appreciate the return of the kinder Raiden.

ALSO Didn't skarlet get increasingly stronger by draining and consuming blood? That was her whole deal in MK9's ending. She could have become the Blood God of her ending without the hourglass. Not only would she have an infinite source of blood to manipulate into tidal waves, weapons and spells, but also she could have taken a dive and ascend into Evil Raiden levels of OP.

Kotal got retconned to hell (at first i thought he was intentionally lying, but no), present Erron is there the whole time, but doesn't say or do anything, D'vorah appears out of nowhere to push the plot (i know SF sucks at detaining their prisoners, but still). Then they appear from MK9's chapter 11 - Raiden, Liu Kang, Kitana and Baraka look close enough, but Shao Kahn, Jade and Kano are completely different, while Skarlet and Erron shouldn't even be there. Johnny for some reason appears in SF base instead of colloseum (and his leg isn't broken), Jax already has metal arms even though Ermac ripped them off hours ago and past Sonya for some reason look older than present Sonya. And if they were brought here then what happened with Smoke, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and everyone else at the Kolloseum? Why Kahns fight like dim witted barbarians when they know variety of magics? Since when Jade and Kotal are a thing? It was never mentioned or even eluded in MK9 or X. Jade could go with Kitana to flesh pits in MK9 and Kotal could gather army against Netherrealm (instead of trying to be a Shinnok's bitch) and restore Jade in MKX. Do i even need to continue? Listing all the things wrong with this chapter could easily take 40 minutes.

I don't think they try to portray Kotal Kahn as a "good guy" but someone who's a better alternative to Shao Kahn hence why Johnny Cage says "Kotal's one of the good guys... kinda" before he fights past Erron Black. I think its even in Kotal's character that he's slightly delusional about being a compassionate ruler with how he's blatantly racist against Tarkatans, how he was going to execute a bread thief in MKX and in one of his intros with Spawn in MK11. Kotal Kahn: I was a just and compassionate emperor Spawn: You massacred entire tribes. Kotal Kahn: And how did *you* end up in hell?

I agree. One of GNC's biggest criticisms of X was that there's no way 2 Kombat Kids should have been able to hold off 5 Revenants in that final chapter. Subzero stepping in should have made Kotal side with them, so then Subzero, Kotal, Jaqui and Takeda could have fought the Revenants while Cassie and Jin fought Shinnok. Then we could say in this game that Kotal had a defensible misunderstanding instead of an outright betrayal.

The modern reboot MK writing is so bad that not only does it completely shit all over the original timeline (which I think is overall underrated video game lore) but it cannot even be consistent to its own bullshit. Seriously there are so many inconsistencies and plotholes even if you just ignore the original timelime altogether.

One thing that really annoyed me in MK11 is they ruined a perfectly acceptable character: Kotal Khan. They introduce a character with a cool design, good moveset, and decent resume by killing Goro. It almost felt like once NRS brought Shao Khan back, they didn't know what to do with Kotal, so they had him be inept just to have players hate him and get him out of the story.

PREACH. Look, and this is a true story, I bought MKX solely because of Kotal Kahn, he looked like my old Tekken main Ancient Ogre. Even though I was hesitant about MK11 at first, I bought it JUST because I still love Kotal Kahn and wanted to play an 'upgraded' version of him. I don't love MK11, I love using Kotal Kahn. I followed Kotal's story from the beginning of the comics, to MK11 Aftermath, and I know that he went from powerful fighter to everyone's bitch and jobber. It is so fucking laughable, I solely love him for how he looks, talks, and his story in the comics, but other than that, it fucking sucks and you only feel bad for him

Kronika didn't even need to merge the two timelines. Her goal was to obtain jinsai from the dragon groto that doesn't seem tended to, souls from an abandoned island, and time to prepare the timeline...literally snag the Jinsai right next to you and send geras or Cetrion to protect the crown.

I'm adding a sin. Dispite the fact that their character models and move sets are already in the vanilla game, even after 5 DLC packs and a full expansion, Sektor and Cyrax are not playable characters.

Sektor or Cyrax would only be playable DLC fighters if they were the last DLC fighter in the Kombat Pack 2.

lol MK11 really takes a diarrhea dump on Jacqui Briggs' life. Jacqui's mind was strong enough to wield Kronika's crown & even beat Elder god Cetrion while wearing the crown. Yet, Jacqui without having Kronika's crown does Seppuku if she defeats Kronika since she can't figure out how use god-level time power to set up a speed-date for Jax & her mother without making him lose both his arms! Also, there's Hellspawn Jacqui, which is probably a result of the Seppuku & in no way a red flag for Al Simmons. Takeda will probably still marry her though given his history with Scorpion lol

Shao Khan is an imposing final boss. Making his replacement a flat character with no depth makes Outworld look like pushovers compared to Earthrealm. Jade has little to no backstory either except being Kitana's backup. MK11 made Jade into Kotal girlfriend to add depth to both of them as well as world-building of Jade & Kotal's story. You can tell since past Jade asks future Kotal nonstop questions in their cutscene interactions.

12:01 If you read the comics, you'll know that Sub Zero was killing Cyber Lin Quei. But when he started to use the blood dagger he deviaded from that goal. After a deadly fight with Hanzo, Bo Ria Cho nurses him back to health and set forth to the CLQ Bunker. To free Cyrax, Bo Ria Cho hired Kung Jin to steal a Virus made in Chicago to disable the Slave Systems on Cyrax. I think you missed several opportunitties to nitpick at sudden nerfs some characters suffered through cutscenes, case in point: while sneaking in the tarkatan camp, Jade and her party should have had a much harder time trying to sneak around what can be described as an army of humanoid bloodhounds. Also, the amount of times someone is too busy standing around doing nothing while their allies are being beaten to death (or maiming). Also also, why not go all the way and sin aftermath along the game? of course, this is my opinion and anyone who reads it is invited to contradict me

It always bothered me how Quan Chi made it a point to make Sub-Zero human again (making the whole Cyber Sub-Zero plotline pointless), but not using it to fix Jax's arms or Kabal's breathing issues/burn scars. Yeah, I get why it was done (cyber Sub-Zero's not as marketable, and Jax/Kabal would lose their long-time gimmicks if QC "fixed" them), but it still annoyed me since those seem like a pretty easy fix in comparison to Sub-Zero getting his cybernetics torn apart until his brain, spine, and eyeballs are all that's left and then regenerate the rest of his organic human body.
