Cooperation fails in a one-shot prisoner's dilemma. If players repeat the interaction multiple times, can they break from the defection trap? This lecture answers that question and sets the stage for our unit on repeated (or iterated) games.

I recently wrote a dissertation on Game Theory for a school project/exam. I used your book and MOOC as my primary sources, so I'd like to thank you for having such a thoroughly written, and understandable course.

+Toby's Vids Thanks! I say this a lot, but I'd really appreciate a review over on Amazon. It helps out authors a ton.

+William Spaniel I've already done so. 5 stars, and well deserved. I just didn't know if you read the reviews there, and wanted to get the message to you.

credible Nash reversion threats do work in finite repetitions of PD, as demonstrated by Axelrod and Hamilton (1981) and Anatol Rapoport's "TIT FOR TAT" program

The feeling of guilt almost reaches the same level as when i accidentally clicked something something and may have given some food delivery guy a bad review in a situation which could have lead to him being fired and there was no way to fix it. I will never know what happened@@KZbin_username_not_found

@@jonniheinisto9825 Now when you describe it this way, it feels even worse 😧😨😰. Side note: my mistake was with another content creator. Side note 2: KZbin notified me with the like but not with your reply.

What if there are multiple NE (PSNE and MSNE)? How would the results look like?

I still don't grasp why actions at any given stage cannot affect future play, and also don't get why NE must be played at the final stage, i will look for the video, but if someone could explain these things i would appreciate that !

+PIME32 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKqYo5h5oqqZeMk TL;DW: If only one thing can happen in the final stage (because there is a single Nash equilibrium), actions in the previous stage can't have any impact on what we will do later. For example, in a prisoner's dilemma, no matter what happened before, defect is always going to be better for me in the last stage than cooperating.
