I've seen this theory! I don't know how much evidence their is for it but I've seen people posit that the people in pokemon "evolve" from baby to young kid to older kid/middle schooler to high schooler to adult to elder. A lot more stages than pokemon but hey. Also kind of fits with the earlier video where humans shared ancestry with pokemon? I'd be interested to see if there was enough basis for them to do a video on it at some point.

UPDATE FOR JOURNEYS: Journeys is originally set in Winter. This is odd because SM both starts and ends in summer. I think, I wasn’t paying that much attention to the seasons when I watched it. We have Snowpoint City over there with snow in it again, and we have a winter episode where Ash and Goh get a day off of their jobs (yes they have jobs) because of a blizzard. So that adds another year to Ash’s age journey. Happy 21st birthday Ash Ketchum. Later, in episode 22 (“Goodbye, Friend”), Ash and Goh see a Beautifly migration, and migration implies Fall. Then the show proceeds to skip over Spring and Winter and go right to next Summer in episode 32 (“Time After Time”) when Goh goes on a trip to Johto and ends up meeting some previous romantic entanglement I guess. It’s mostly a flashback to the one (1) day they knew each other and honestly not gonna lie I cried. So two more years have passed Ash is 23 now. This is affirmed in the Alola episode where we meet Kukui and Burnet’s kid who was presumably conceived near the end of SM and doesn’t look very young. Will update once Netflix gets more, tell me if I’m missing anything

Actually, taking this into consideration, Ash would have to be 1,020 years old, having seen Jirachi twice on different occasions. Once in “Jirachi Wish Maker” and once in Season 16 Episode 35 “Searching for a Wish.” The Pokédex even days that Jirachi only comes once every thousand years.

Serena ends up kissing Ash at the end of the XYZ series and that is something that I at first shuddered at when MatPat gave his actual age but it's important to note that they were the same age when they were at Oak's summer camp. Therefore, Serena is also 19 (or 18). This means that she had been in love with him for all those years, chose to not become a trainer and waited nine (or eight give or take) years, and only began her journey once she saw Ash on TV rescuing the Garchomp. That's almost yandere type status of strange yet oddly romantic I guess.

Plot Twist: Ash actually lives in Pluto. A plutonian year is equal to 248 earth years. A Possible Theory : Dialga, the god of time got badly injured in one of it's battles with Palkia. This lead to time behaving oddly in the Pokemon Universe and might be the reason why people never age. Also this might've happened after Ash crossed 10 years so Ash isn't aging.
