The thing about Detective Pikachu is that the game stories are already decent, plus Pokemon has already been wildly successful in the anime adaptations. The people who have a hand in the television/film adaptations are already interested in telling a good story, plus it's not like the Pokemon games have that much cutting edge scenery that they'd feel obligated to put into the movies. Instead, it's character design- seeing them in real life- and interesting lore that already exists but hasn't been explored a ton.

yeah, i mean telltale totally doesn't do that but label it as a game, and that's not a thing dora does. it's already a thing it just isn't s popular because for some reason people have this negative stigma towards video games because of all this news about it hurting your eyes and being unhealthy, i remember having this argument with my sister several times about how videogames are healthier than watching tv because when you're watching tv you are only absorbing information, but when you are playing a game you are think, strategizing, problem solving, not just absorbing it and interpreting it. this was long winded, i need to get better at short comments

I know *Kubo and the two strings* probably wasn't out by the time this video came out, but I'd love to see it being translated into a game. Imagine the breathtaking surroundings, getting involved in the story, interacting with the characters, tem mechanics with the shamisen as it's used in the movie, the amazing boss fights with the skeleton, the aunts and the grandpa.. With the current technology in videogames it would look beautiful too! And there could be included some details left out from the movie due to limitations of time, since you can make things last as long as you want them to in a videogame.

It could be better, as we love to watch you as you explore the lore behind games and explain them trought multiple episodes to be easy to understand, movies could give more by streemlining it, or giving more confusion and canon to it to make gamers replay the games to unravel more mysteries craft theories. This way pontentially giving a great fundation to a new sequal to games. And bring in more people to play it.

Kailey Fox Every bit was awful. The first season was boring as shit until the half way point which turned it from boring to creepy and disgusting.Second season was just, bad beyond words. The fight scenes wernt good which people who defend it say. (They wernt. One of the fights was him standing there while peoples swords went through him) the show wasnt even about video games, if you got rid of about 5 minutes it would be a fantasy series. The videogame aspect only gets mentioned and never taken advantage of. The reason its popular is beyond me but the show is horse shit.

That's really interesting that developers think story doesn't matter, bc some of the best selling and most praised games have very strong writing (e.g Bioshock series, Grand Theft Auto Series, Undertale, The Last of Us, God of War, Hell even the first Modern Warfare game). At least for me personally, a good story is the main difference between buying a game instead of renting it on gamefly or something. And a good story in the video connects more and makes me hungry to buy the next game more than any movie or book

It's a matter of perspective. Until recently, the people in charge of making video game movies haven't cared about the material enough to make a serious effort. I'm talking about putting serious talent behind and in front of the camera. Things may have changed with Duncan Jones directing Warcraft, and Michael Fassbender starring in Assassin's Creed. There is nothing saying that video games with good stories can't be translated to the big screen. You just have to find people who care about the stories to make the movies. It's working well for super hero movies.

Yeah, super hero movies used to get the same treatment. The studios didn't care about the properties, they just wanted something to sell toys. It is how you got from Burton's Batman to Schumaker's dayglo Batman and Robin, or from Donner's Superman to Furie's Superman 4: The Quest for Peace(arguably one of the worst movies of all time from any genre). There were a couple of successes just before X-Men, like Blade, but X-Men is what really reignited the genre. And if Warcraft or Assassin's Creed are even just good, it might be enough for us to eventually see a Fallout or Mass Effect movie.
