Quick correction - We refer to Tetsuya Nomura as producer, however on Final Fantasy VII he was actually character designer/battle director.

Little known facts about Starfox Adventures: Krystal the Fox was originally a _cat._ The guy who designed her and worked on the game, furious about the project being scrapped, deliberately made the character that was his pride and joy a Sex Symbol for Nintendo and the Starfox franchise as a whole. Krystal is, canonically speaking, a slutty female character and a serial adulteress.

DYKG extra usually covers trivia that follows a theme such as lawsuits, piracy, Easter eggs that took decades to find, etc. I personally wouldn't consider a console's library a theme. - Shane.
@cerisskies
@cerisskies 5 жыл бұрын
@@DidYouKnowGamin Of course that's a theme; it is the subject or topic of the video. It's the constant that ties the video together. Just because it's a collection from quite a wide library doesn't make it any less of a theme. Universal Studios is a theme park, and the theme of that park is the library of Universal's film and media franchises, for example.

It's funny how fondly the gamecube is remembered, but back in the 2000s, everyone in the gaming industry saw it as a complete mess of a failure. It wasn't selling well compared to the PS2 and it didn't have blockbuster hits like the Xbox, yet it was still beloved by those who owned one. Still, it was rough being a Nintendo fanboy at the time cuz it was pretty much the butt of every gaming joke.

I remember this console was shat upon because of the lunchbox shape and all the cartoony games, while a lot of its lineup was criticized for straying away from the formula (Super Mario Sunshine, Star Fox Adventures, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, etc.). Oh, how times have changed.

So fitting that all three became popular. Windwaker the most successful, but despite their flaws, Sunshine and Starfox Adventures are fan favorites now
@GBDupree
@GBDupree 5 жыл бұрын
@@menph1096 Sunshine is THE most popular Mario game in speedrunning too, I don't think Odyssey or 64 are that big yet. Plus I remember a video Nintendo put out before a game release (I think it was NSMBU or 3D World) and they were asking different people at the New York store what their favorite Mario game was, and a majority of answers from a bunch of different age groups was Sunshine as their favorite. Its strange considering its seemingly the most hated for the general online consensus, yet in reality is one of the most popular.

Also Starfox Adventures tried something new and different which I wholeheartedly love about it. It’s basically if Zelda and Starfox had a Baby together and more surprising is Rare making it and it originally going to be an N64 game and having nothing to do with Starfox even Kirby Air Ride was planned for the N64 at some point.

I'm surprised that some people can stomach playing Adventure. I finally managed to do a full play-through with my friend and even then it was so tedious and boring. Luckily the game had plenty of moments that were so bad they ended up being hilarious. Everything about the ending/final boss had me rolling.

The hand error from Twin Snakes could also imply a muscle injury taking place at some point between MGS3 and MGS. If he broke his forearm or his hand and then fell out of practice with his gun he might have just trained more with his right hand only. Additionally, that could explain his ability to quickly pick up using his left hand after the injury. Another explanation could be simply arthritus.

The Switch isn't powerful enough to run Dolphin without framerate issues. Also, each game was 1.4GB. Switch carts are what, 32GB? Assuming the Dolphin emulator will fit in 438MB (the ELF on my Linux system is only 15 MB, so after shared objects and config files it might fit), that only leaves room for 21 games. Sony just got blasted for only including 20 games on its overpriced emulator box, which will probably dissuade Nintendo from doing basically the same thing. Or, they might just try it anyways, knowing that when anyone else makes a mistake or even intentionally screws over their customers, they get the flak they deserve, but it's apparently okay when Nintendo does it.

The "Narrator with a rather un-friendly voice" at 9:20 is actually Frosty Winterball, the snowman alt for Ricky WinterBorn in 1080 Avalance. You can briefly see his portrait at 8:36. The same audio clip has a chance of being used when selecting Frosty.

GameCube was one of my favorite consoles ever. I personally think the GameCube had a great rooster of games and everyone had something. Games like Kirby AirRide,Wario Ware ,Mario Kart Double Dash,Mario Strikers... Brought my family together and apart in less then 5 seconds.Billy Hatcher and Sonic Adventures 2 ... It was great. I loved it so much.

@Angel Akechi10 Half of the N64 games you say have aged well haven't at all. Mario Party 1 is a shit game. Most of the minigames suck, the luck factor is way too high and the single player minigames feel like padding. You say it has aged well in spite of the fact that several minigames actually break your analog stick. Mario Party 2 is a huge improvement but still has some of the same problems and even feels like a retread of the first game. I can partially accept 2 being preferred over 3 but 1? Hell fucking no. Mario Kart 64 is easily the worst game in the series. It has atrocious rubber banding that leads to unnecessary frustration especially in 150cc. Some of the items are buggy as hell (looking at you Red Shell), the tracks are either forgettable or go on for way too long (a few are good though) and the control is unresponsive and even oversensitive. Feels more like a shitty tech demo rather than a game. Pokemon Stadium is fine but it's outdated thanks to Pokemon Stadium 2. 2 has all the same mechanics as 1 but with far more content. You say banjo games suck. Okay, why are you including them? Never mind. I can smell overblown nostalgia when reading your comment.

Another custom robo fact was that your character could give away the watch left to them by their father early into the game by tellling someone it was ok to have it several times. Come end game, when the watch is needed, your character has to make a fairly lengthy trek to the someones home while a unique track plays.

@robinowie

Adding to what Greg is saying, works of fiction (like the vidya gaems) often have different human-like races If, for example, we found another human-like intelligent species (like extraterrestrial life), we would probably refer to them as a race. This is because this new life is intelligent enough to communicate with and is not biologically related to us humans. It's a similar concept to different humans having different physical and cultural backgrounds, the actual definition of a race in this context. Saying humans are a race is not correct with the definition your using. Context is everything.

Even with those four minigames removed in the PAL version of Endurance Alley, that mode has still one major issue that makes this challenge cheap : If you get a tie, the game counts it as a loss. Which is infirurating because there are some minigames where your victory relies way too much on the AI's behavior and not enough on your own skills (such as "Boo'd Off the Stage", "Snow Brawl", "Sumo of Doom-o", and especially "Asteroad Rage").

Another fact I want too add: The german title of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was changed to "Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor" (which would retranslate into "The Legend of the Eongate") due to the Localisation thinking that the (admittedly terrible sounding) Subtitle "Die Tausendjahrestüre" would deter the games sales, so the opted for something with as much grandeur as they could without departing from the original title completely. 8:47 That "Luigi Sprite" in 1080° is an error on dev side that you didn't catch either: That is not a Luigi Sprite at all, it's merely a green colored Mario - which is very weird given that Luigi (unlike many early Mario titles) has an all original set of Sprites in SMB3. Even in all versions of the game.
