Wish I could do this with my org that I run...I try to host multicrew "events"/gatherings but everyone always ends up never being on time and taking almost 40 minutes to even gather up, and then when we DO gather up half of them are already burnt out and only stay for an hour or so and leave... basically ruining the event for everyone else as you can't really do a multicrew event when most of the crew is gone. I really hope CIG puts in a lot more tangible reasons to multicrew this year, as the game really needs to force or at least make it super hard for people to solo medium/large/capital ships and have any form of usefulness out of them or efficiency. Most play solo for a good deal of our gametime, but the game MUST be balanced for group play else there will be no real reason to play with a group and as such no reason for the average player to join an org (since if you can do everything yourself at a large scale than it cheapens group play and gives it zero value).
@harbringerf9416 Жыл бұрын
@ChristoffRevan Try running a calendar of events with everyone getting ready prior to event start. And if possible ask people what they would turn up for and make that a priority 😊 . Hopefully that will help you get more multi-player game play.

Fun fact, you *can* get a 32 SCU crate into the Reclaimer! You need to spend 10 minutes awkwardly shoving it into the elevator, then another 10 awkwardly shoving it into whichever room (I got it in the Cargo bay) until the box noclips through the ship and you can lay it down in the bay. I did it with gold from an A2, and was absolutely terrified the entire time because it was flailing wildly like a sugar rushing child attacking their first pinata. I then CTD'd when landing at New Babbage and lost the ship and all the gold, quant and CM I had gathered over a few hours, so that was painful. Anyway, thanks for the video, I'm really enjoying this series!

i hope that the 890 jump will be featured in the "life aboard" series
@steak-a-potamus6231 Жыл бұрын
The 890 would be particularly interesting, in my opinion, due to how many ground vehicles with different roles they could fit on it for a varied types of jobs and gameplay styles and what ship or ships they would choose to take with them. With the various types of missions they could take on, it could be a different gameplay style in every video.

The work on the ground was very cool. So neat to get out and there is actually things to do, grabbing the cargo, doing visuals of the damaged engine, etc. It's moments like that which give a sense of life in this verse. It's no longer "You either mine (maybe if we let you), deliver boxes, or shooty shooty. So much more to do and I love watching you all do it!
@Citizen_Kate Жыл бұрын
sometimes when the ship gets damaged you can see the areas of the hull where material has been shot off - This then gives you a good idea of where to patch when it comes to doing repairs. hopefully we'll be able to show it in an upcoming video and yes i agree finding little tasks like that, ones that take you out of the ship are very cool :) i hope they continue to add features liek that because it really adds to the sense of adventure :)
@badweathergaming4929 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree, its a big part of what I struggle to explain to my friends that don't play. They say things like Eve and Elite Dangerous do the same things and I just cant explain its not on the same scale... like yeah the big features are all there, but the stuff in between and the feel of actually being in a world without getting in the way (like if we had to go through customs and TSA every time)is so hard to get them to understand without doing it.
@ATLloches Жыл бұрын
Love these Life Aboard series - very cinematic and looks like you and your crew are enjoying themselves. The trick to hovering a Reclaimer on planets like MT is to stay in VTOL and keep your ship level with the angle as close to zero degrees as possible. If you angle your nose up or down by even a few degrees, your VTOL thrusters cannot maintain enough lift, and the ship will lose altitude. Fly safe!
@Citizen_Kate Жыл бұрын
yes i think you are correct on the hovering! i tilted the ship too far off center and lost thrust. learned a new lesson from it though haha and thank you for the detailed explanation :)
@ATLloches Жыл бұрын
@citizen_kate no problem! Learned it the hard way myself 😅
@stormfire962imastarcitizen5 Жыл бұрын
Citizen Kate well done on the video and I do agree I think it is the weight in the ship that is making it hard to keep it a loft. I have always found the Reclaimer to behave more like a dead rock in atmosphere and that it's better to keep the engines in VTOL when you're trying to do the work that you're doing on retrieving or scraping on a ship. Also there's another thing you may want to consider that may have given you trouble. It is possible that the engines were somewhat overheating or possibly overstrained from all the heavy flight maneuver that you did in taking down those ships. Remember this ship that you're flying is a salvage ship and not a fighter and the weapons on board are only for defense.

This is very informative. I learned two important things. One, you may be able to fix the scraping bug by swapping the heads (before I was taking it to a base to store and recall) which saves me a lot of time. Second it is more cost effective (time and money) to just munch instead of scrape. Thank you very much indeed!
@ChristoffRevan Жыл бұрын
Eh, the last part isn't necessarily true. You get more money from RMC per unit; however, your scraper team need to be quick and not as OCD about it, they need to just quickly get about 60% to maybe 70% of the surface and then move to the other side and not worry about getting every piece of the surface...THAT is what costs you time (and therefore wasted credits). Thing is, most people end up being really OCD about the scraping and try to 100% it all, which is inefficient as heck. For the Vulture though, munching is extremely inefficient as you're filling up your cargo hold with lower value...RMC is more than double the sale price, so since you have a small cargo hold you NEED to get RMC or it's not worth it.

On my second flight out in my brand new reclaimer, I also plummeted out of the sky like a boulder wrapped in four feet of lead... I was coming home after having scraped (yes, scraped, not munched) two A2s and was salivating at the prospect of bringing in a few million auec... I lost six hours of IRL time because of that crash... So sickened by it that I haven't been back in SC for a few weeks now... I did go back to using a vulture immediately (always get back on the horse after a fall) but it just isn't the same... Katie I love your content so much and am personally totally with you on that crash. The VTOL 'fight' to stay aloft is stressful and it's so disheartening when it finally drops...

I'm also new to the Reclaimer and I totally get what you mean about the weight. It is by far the hardest ship I have had to land. At A18 even in landing mode with a full load on it loses altitude without lift input and if you nose down it drops really fast. What I always have to keep in mind is that thing is a big ship with small thrusters outside of the main engines... and it hates gravity lol. Honestly I'm impressed you can keep it as steady as you can in most of these in atmosphere bounties and resulting salvage.

i have really enjoyed all your Life Aboard series so far and look forward to more. I have also had the same problem with the reclaimer on Mircotech and have now mastered the "falling with style" approach to landing in the hangars. I was recently told that it is a bug with the proximity warning function in the settings. when it is enabled it reduces the thrust when close to ground. So i dont think that your flying is an issue and you should fly the ship more as we all know Star Citizen has the best ways of making the competent look stupid.

Bed logging from vulture will cause an inability to scrape after logging back in. The fix was jump out of vulture exit to menu then file claim. Though this only happend once and bed logging has not affected scraping since. The head switch is a bright idea!

@Velarieth Жыл бұрын
Kate. I'm like ~80% sure the reason you crashed is because you pointed the nose of the Reclaimer down. I've not flown it a ton, but I've noticed that in atmosphere, especially on planets with higher gravity you MUST keep the ship horizontal and the thrusters pointed down (hover mode). If you don't then the ship simply doesn't have the thrust to keep itself in the air. The second the center of gravity falls outside the center of thrust, it plummets. But, the good news is, that you should be able to easily compensate for this in the future. Great series btw!

How does the Reclaimer compare to other ships when it comes to taking on Connies & A2s etc.? The guns seem pretty powerful. Maybe not as powerful as a Reclaimer or Hammerhead but do its defences make up for that?
@kripto202 Жыл бұрын
as a fellow reclaimer pilot, the way to fix your control of hovering near the surface, you need to turn off a really bad setting for large ships go to settings > game settings > flight - Proximity Assist Defaults On. Make sure this is turned off. What this does is it weakens your thrusters as you get close to things but for large ships like the reclaimer, it makes the ships sink uncontrollably.

Cargo should affect the ship, but at times I think the Reclaimer has issues flying. I don't think it was built to hover either. They really need a new ship between the Vulture and the Reclaimer that can handle the bigger ships, but be more surface friendly.

it is possible yes - more so now than before because of the addition of the salvage buffer (prior to that you'd have to keep running to the cargo bay every 4 boxes or so :D ) though it would be far from ideal and even jsut adding a 2nd person would make your life a whole lot easier :)

@Citizen_Kate Жыл бұрын
Hey there alandab - you are most definitely mistaken i'm afraid to say. we ALWAYS have tractor beam attachments they can actually be seen in use during this very video :) we didn't have salvage attachments because the ship fell through the ground in a previous video and we lost our onboard supplies :D also the salvage attachment just isn't used as much as the Tractor beam. wanted to clarify for you though because yeah it would be remiss to not have tractor beams absolutely but i can proudly proclaim that we do carry them always

@@Citizen_Kate Kate, I love you and have watched you from the beginning (you can go back through ALL your comments from previous videos, etc.). So don't think I'm hating on you at all. But whether it's tractor, salvage, or medical, I just think you guys should be better supplied with BASIC gear that's COMMONLY used during your escapades in the verse. But hey, I enjoy your videos regardless. It just drives me crazy when you're trying to find a multi-tool attachment of some kind. I just don't understand it.
@Citizen_Kate Жыл бұрын
haha no you're good i didn't assume hate don't worry - you just stated it so factly, and that we don't carry mult-tools even which even you have to admit is a bit of an exaggeration given the videos we make. I figured and explaining our usual load out would be helpful :) we don't give much thought to the salvage attachment because really its ONLY use is repairs and right now that is purely optional given the availability of repair stations in the game (mining outposts on every moon for example) - salvaging with the handheld attachment gives so little return it isnt worth it beyond material to repair with. That said we DID stock them (check episode 1) and just lost them when the ship fell through the planet. we didn't pack as much on the 2nd loadout because there are other problems with persistence we'll see in the next video. But your assumption over our motivation was just wrong and i didn't want you operating under false assumptions :) thank you for watching our videos for so long as well, I really appreciate it and i know the rest of the crew do as well!
