I appreciate this series so much, what an incredible way to connect learning to some of the pop culture that draws fans to Japanese in the first place. Kudos to how much work you must put into this!!

Late to the party, as I just started watching your videos a few days ago, but I wanted to say thank you for the amazing content! I only watched episodes 1 through 7 so far, and though they are all great, this one is the best so far, this game just oozes style. 我は汝、汝は我 gives me chills every time.

15:11 wasn't that long ago you brought up the ふり grammar point in one of your videos! I've seen it popping up a lot in games after watching it, such a good grammar point to learn. Thank you so much 先生!

Can't wait to see the episode! This channel is a life-saver! Any chance seeing Yakuza games in one of the episode? Maybe 0 or Kiwami or even that one Japanese-only Yakuza game?

Yakuza would actually be really good given how realistic the conversations in that series can be Before they shift into the madness of beating the shit out of people with a couch

yeaaaah, basically started japanese learning only because of Yakuza, it would be wonderful

Being a huge persona fan, just to point something out. At first, those who high five 鴨志田先生 are teachers; this is a match between the student and the teacher. And the part 浮いてんな is not referred to those students but the blond girl because it kinda implied in the part that when joker looked at him, he pretended that he was not saying anything or looking at anyone and yawned. But the girl is not cheerful, so I believe that the English translation for this part is "always carefree, haven't changed a bit." (And we know afterward that those two blondies were classmates in middle school) So I'm curious can the word also be translated as carefree?

The Legend of Heroes: Trails In the Sky. I know it might be a little bit too niche. But since you said you love videogames with good stories. This is one you really shouldn't miss! (If you ever want to play it. Look up for the Evolution mod which adds JP VA).

would you recommend playing a game first in english then japanese or start completely in japanese without any pre existing knowledge of what was being said? thanks! and just wanna say i appreciate the effort you put into these and im really grateful.
@robbiewilliams95012 жыл бұрын
Something you could do is play a game first in Japanese with English subtitles, if the game has it, then play it again (like a New Game Plus for example) all in Japanese. I think it's important to have the prior listening exposure.
@moggless2 жыл бұрын
@@robbiewilliams9501 will that be cheating since i already know what theyre gonna say? not that i can remember every bit of it but you know what i mean.
@robbiewilliams95012 жыл бұрын
@@moggless I completely get what you mean. I definitely think it is about preference. One thing I think though is when they localize a game to English for a Western audience sometimes there are nuances that can be lost, that I believe are great to have prior exposure too. For example in this video Kamoshida refers to himself as 俺様 "Ore Sama" which shows to what extent he really thinks highly of himself. Also there are words and phrases you will here so often that they will be stuck in your brain so when playing a second time it gets solidified. I do get what you mean by cheating though, because of the temptation to just read the subtitles and not focus on the spoken Japanese.
