The workaround for passing in values to object's create event, that I've been using, is that before creating an object, I've set a global variable (E.g global.pass = varToPass) and in the the other object's create event I've assigned a variable to this global var (varPassedIn = global.pass). But this new update makes it much more easier and since it's a struct, also much more flexible! Great video btw! :)

Yeah, it's a really nice quality of life (and even marginal efficiency) improvement, not having to double set parameters. I'm also really interested to see if the struct stuff and time sources might be able to make RTS projects efficient enough to be viable at a larger scale.

It’s been a while since they’ve been updated. They’re still good because they teach the fundamentals of programming, but definitely outdated. I’m working on a whole new set of courses, so if you can wait, I’d definitely suggest to hold off.

I really don't understand the advantage of getting to run a variable immediately. Like, why?

There’s many reasons it can be useful. Imagine an object that can have multiple states or sprites. Now you can create it, and immediately setting it without having to save it to a variable, have it run, and then change the properties. This can be especially useful if you’ve got a lot of code that changes what an object does depending on properties in its create event.

Many times you’ll want to create an object but have it do something different than what’s coded in there already. Say you have a laser beam that could fly in any direction on the screen. Now when you create it you can pass in the direction it should go immediately, instead of having several additional steps.
