Nice video. Really enjoyed your commentary on this. I always found this game impossibly hard but you make it look easy.

+John Sundberg Thanks- unfortunately I can't make it as far as I used to. Maybe if i can get some practice again i'll make a new video.

Damn, you got this game down, for the most part. The commentary is very helpful. I could never remember which doors were good/bad. Great tips/strategies too. You gotta do more than just 3 videos like this. There are plenty "quarter stealers" on the Neo Geo to chose from!

Thanks! I hope I can inspire some super players to take this on and finish what I can't do in 1 credit (exmosquito if you're reading this lol) I'll think about adding another series of games soon, thought I would keep it small with my 3 favorites to start. Thanks for watching!

Good review, yeah this game is the classic definition of a hard ass video game.

I think it was Nintendo...but if you're gonna talk about "Quarter Stealers" (we called them Quarter Eaters) you have GOT to do one on Gauntlet. If my memory serves me correct, Gauntlet was THE first quarter stealer game ever. My god. Prior to Gauntlet I could walk into an arcade with less than $5 and spend the whole day there and come home with a few quarters left. Gauntlet would suck me dry in less than half an hour! It had a deteriorating health system (which of course, you could by more with more quarters) which ensured that, no matter HOW good you were at the game (and I got pretty damn good) you would HAVE to spend money to keep playing its endless mazes. The first (and I'll stand to be corrected) and still by far the best at it, Quarter Stealer...long before Magician Lord... However, I agree...Magician Lord was all about bilking a few more coins out of you more than it was about effective game mechanics...and addictively so. That and I'm glad someone else called these out for what they were (even if they were grudgingly fun). :)
