Finally, a case with 5.25" drive bay support that does not force you to permanently choose between either the drives or installing a third fan at the front (by virtue of having to hammer out the mounting frame for the fan).
@TuneDownUtilities
@TuneDownUtilities 4 ай бұрын
It doesn't look like you can mount the 3rd fan with the 2x2 5.25" bays in the front considering the suspicious holes above the fan at 2:05. also by size alone you would still lose at least 3 of the bays even if the fan was mounted with a center offset. although one could argue that two 180s are as good as 3x140s and you could still mount 1x2 bays in the rear instead of the second psu. also fractal define 7 xl can mount 2x 5.25" bays with 3x140mm fans or a 360mm radiator and is probably much cheaper.

The Fractal Pop Series of cases also offer 5 1/4 drive bays in the PSU basement. That was actually one of the main reasons I went with my current Fractal Pop Air case, since it was a miditower case, it could mount a 280mm AIO Rad as the front intake, has two 5 1/4 drivebay in the bottom and it is long enough for modern GPUs, even with a Rad upfront. I'm currently using an Pop Air Magenta case with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280mm AIO with the rad as the front intake and a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 7900 XTX as the GPU, fits with quite a bit of room between the GPU and the front mounted Rad.

@@Enakaji I got the Pop Air XL for the 5.25" drives. It's nice having them out of the way of the rest of the components, without making the case huge. SIlverstone is onto something with those 4 slots at the top, but my god that thing is huge.

My favorite case I call Frankenstein, it's from around 1992, is heavy gauge stainless steel, room for two power supplies, and a built in direct drive squirrel cage blower with an inverter driver and an air duct system that very silently moves a lot of air and puts it wherever you want it. It weighs about 45 pounds. It's big enough that a 4090 looks like it was made for it. and you could put two in the case without worry's about airflow if the MB was big enough. Originally I think it was some some Unix based graphics workstation, I got it University surplus.

It keeps in mind the average GPU options out there, which for whatever reason has less and less blower style GPUs now, at least at the lower price point levels and keeps in mind regular CPU coolers, etc. I'm just itching to pull the trigger on one of their 5U even.

Had my little Silverstone HTPC case in the HiFi rack for ages. Its last configuration was based on AM1, had a BluRay/HD-DVD combo drive, and three 2.5" SSDs 😊 Still fond memories for the excellent service it provided over the years. Given that I am in Asia, the short tower would be an option for the upcoming Ruzen 9xxx build, hm...

Silverstone cases are pretty great. I have a pair of white RL06s and a black GD09B (HTPC). The old RL06 is a little tight to build in, but boy does it cool. The Fara line is very RL06-like but seems from this video to be more build friendly. The GD09B is a 4U case with an external DVD bay if you need one.

silverstone made my favorite case ever (the ft02s). i wish they'd go back to those aluminum monoliths but it's good to see they're still doing some creative stuff.

I have built thousands of PCs, and Silverstone was head and shoulders above every other case manufacturer I've ever worked with. Phenomenal quality -- so happy to see the TJ07 live in this new rendition -- I wish they kept the case plate clean like what they did for the Muderbox OEM Charles did. Still, solid stuff - Thanks for the coverage.

I bought a white Silverstone RL06 based on Gamers Nexus' review praising the airflow, and those four included fans with a white light, and the Fara 514X is looking pretty good.

I appreciate that Silverstone is still including HDD activity lights on at least some of their cases.

The first case looks insane for airflow and the modularity makes it super easy to work on it, and its large and unique looking. So many dope cases at Computex this year! This one and the Evolv X2 from Phanteks are my favs (although i wish the X2 was a Full Tower)

1:29 Also makes doing diagnoses when something Effs up SO much easier. Very cool. Motherboard acting up (maybe?) then yank it out with the quickness and test another. Pretty sick.

My goodness! Okay, yesterday I was excited over the Corsair 9000D, but this Alta D1 is just insanely good looking and on so many levels. If I was offered both right now it would be a hard choice, but I think the Alta D1 would edge it out. If case manufacturers are reading this, if I may make a suggestion, please, please, please look at engineering stuff with support for 5.25 drives. Really good coverage on this stuff to y'all over at GN.

Thanks for covering the CW04. I could see it in the background of other youtubers' videos but they all ignored it. Not that I actually watch other youtubers or anything like that though :O

@gamersnexus I'm running a 13600k and 3060 with full noctua cooling in a Silverstone GD08 from 2006-2007. Perfect HTPC case. Exited for the new run!

I got to be honest about something. The first case that I personally purchased was a cool master Striker full tower. I still have it, and the main reason why I love that case is because of its carry handle. I would love something that is as wide as that case, but a bit shorter in height. Be honest with you none of these cases today surprises me or gets me excited for a case design. I know it's hard to reinvent the wheel x amount of times but I feel like we're not really moving in the direction to...idk where I'm going with this lolz... I just like a lot of things from the cool master case that I bought a long time ago and would love to see things re-implemented from that case.

I'm in for those small micro ATX cases in white. Perfect for a midrange PC build, maybe with used parts. Don't need more space anymore on my desk or my couch setup. But my favorite till now is this "XBox Series X style" case. Sleek and stylish.
