How to complain about the advertisement of the 3D printers of course it's far more complicated than a spoon and just clicking and dropping files. Setting the damn spindle plastics into the hopper for example. Making sure that the system update works properly because they often have fun when they come with programs. Plastic shrinkage and some of the files that people post are more often than not incomplete or lousy in details so you need to make your own Improvement and learn about structural Integrity once the models are printed.

I cannot reiterate how important people scanning and saving 3d files of minis are. We think of lost media as being just video and audio files but anything can be lost. We've got the technology to save these things now and the only person whining about it is James workshop. I'll buy a mini that I want, no problem GW that's fine but when I try to buy it and what's that? It's now 25% more expensive because I planned to get it when I first started building the army and it's an expensive mini? Well I can't afford those infantry I wanted. Oh wait, you don't sell that anymore because you, I guess don't want to? Well there's no point in me buying that big expensive mini now unless of course someone has saved that mini as a digital file that I can recreate myself. It's worth pointing out that back in the day kitbashing was seen as the correct way to build an army but now the mini has to be exactly what they sell so there isn't even scope to make new units from different kits which is extremely on topic for this video, my 4th guard army was made almost entirely from infantry squads because it looked cool to have everyone wearing the same uniform with upgrades on individuals who were higher up. They can't have it both ways, they either have to make things available or accept that people will find a way themselves. Supply and demand works both ways.

You know you don't have to buy ALL the releases, right? ^^' In 2024, I've bought three new miniatures released this year, two of which were promotionnal (anniversary of the shop of my town and the White Dwarf). THe last one was the new Jet Pack Canonness in the Battle Force. They release a ton of models, because they know they have different players for each army, so to have everyone get a new thing that interest them, you need a ton of different releases ^^

I think I remember hearing a rumor that this is the goal of GW, to separate 30k and 40k as much as possible because they generally don't like miniatures being able to be cross-system compatible. They want you to buy more miniatures and they want each system to be visually distinct. It's why the 30k Mechanicus have no rules for 40k

Big Scandal! Company that sells products refreshes old products with updated techniques and better scaling (for a higher price), discontinues old products because they're outdated and not aligning with the current scale of the refreshes. Like I get they're being greedy, I really wish they'd adopt a "easy to access" mindset for the game so that people will bulk buy their products more often, considering armies require a LOT of miniatures. But on the flip side, they're also acknowledging that unlike the rules and whatnot, it's harder to maintain a consistent refresh of buying products since the miniatures can last through 5 editions. Legit it's like asking Apple to still sell the original iPhone when things have updated so much that we're now on the iPhone 10 and complaining that the phone has gotten more expensive (even though it's gotten way better tech than the original).

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be negative here, I legitimately just feel like a company trying to condense their production to fit a certain standard is often just how things go. The current plastic injection moulding is just cheaper and easier than doing resin or pewter, and keeping the latter around racks up more costs than simply moving everything to the current plastic. I would like to see the removed models return in a new form and it seems like they've been doing so this far, and I would like to see the price reduced so more people can enjoy the hobby.

the "just play an old edition" argument always annoyed me as its not very viable for a lot of people as most gathering places for wargaming and roleplaying takes place in hobby shops and most of these aren't indie anymore and rely on the current editions to keep a bottom line, so will dissuade people from playing them or not give them a table. It can be very hard to get groups going especially if your in an area without a big scene or has people that are too married to playing what's current, additionally, there can be a cut off for resources as not all older games have good teaching tools and play aids and there not always in obvious or securce places. Some due to content can be banned from establishments and that can be over rather minor stuff that the venue holder either finds objectionable (str -4 anyone?) or based on a myth about it, I once had a D&D setting book rejected for use at my college club because the staff supervisor looked it up and a journo said it was racist (never stated why in the article he used btw). This isn't even getting into printed models which some places ban which can be a life preserve for older systems.

Welcome to being behind on the times. Guard and Aeldari codexes are coming out first of next year. So just like every faction that has come out, ranges of models have been purged along with re-released or new models.

I noticed years ago that tournament rules began to become the norm for house rules and its stupid. Back in 3rd edition when i started playing, proxy models were hardly ever a big deal unless you were trying to proxy a Forgeworld model like a titan or something. During the scatter dice era it was pretty common to use a d3 instead of a d6 because of how wild the inaccuracy of blast template weapons were and that often resulted in round after round of hitting absolutely nothing or hitting only your own models. Casual players seem to be a lot more uptight about rules these days. I say play with rules that make the game most fun.

You're comparing the Leman Russ, the most selled tank of the Guard (because yeah, the important thing is sales), to Devastator and Tactic, that have been replaced by new Primaris models, and to obscure datasheets that no one bought anyway. Yeah, the Leman Russ will be replaced one day, probably. But it won't be completely erased, that's just absurd. There's still Rhinos and Land Raiders on the store, and I'm pretty sure there's more Leman Russ sold than Land Raiders XD

Got off the treadmill in the middle of this year. Gave away most of my armies, tossed all the others that were in boxes and half painted. And not just GW, Corvus Belli, and most of the rest. The amount of space I now have in my garage and house is pretty insane. All the sprues, boxes and bits are all gone. I personally feel waaaay better.

What worried me is that they have already said that kill teams will now last only 3 years and then will be removed from "rotation". They aren't planning on putting that on the box or anything so that you can know when that will be, so it is going to suck for anyone buying in late that doesn't know it. But I also worry that they might try this with the larger games if it works. Every edition an entire army refresh would be nightmarishly expensive for everyone. The only thing I think that would stop that is the sheer size of the ranges, but to some extent we do already see this with refreshes/removals every edition.

As a plastic injection molding business owner, I can tell you Injection molds have a lifetime. They can be used only so many times before they have to be repaired or replaced. It also takes a great deal of time to install the injection mold and fine tune the machine to the mold. Injection molds are heavy and take special equipment to have them installed. To machine the highly detailed injection molds GW produces a special CNC mill with a high-speed RPM spindle is required. It can take 2-3 weeks of machining time to carve the excellent mold cavities GW creates. They also don't teach the kind of micro milling in school. I know. This is not including the drawing time on Z-brush. To be honest it makes complete sense for GW to change things up and charge more money. Although I would rather, they still produce the old stuff. Politically I agree with this video.

I agree. It could have been 2 or 3 new marks of power armour and some new units. Instead, they double the size of the range needlessly and stripped everything down. With the exception of Phobos models, Primaris Marines are almost all very dull. Chapters mean nothing, everyone looks the same (complete with monopose models), and models lack any decoration that Marines are know for. Every unit is armed the same to the point of entire units existing because their bolter has different stats. It's such a slap in the face to all the people that propped up the company with their Space Marine armies.

Yeah I'm with you there. This used to be my favorite hobby and favorite game to play. I have loads of fond memories playing with my ex friends all the way back in 2011 and going down to the local shop to pick up something fun to build and paint. Nowadays it kinda just feels like unless you're playing and hobbying every single day you can't get any solid ground in this thing. Every week something changes and it's too much to follow, especially because they have the gall to charge exorbitant prices for their rules which become obsolete hours later. It's no longer fun

Why GW never supported a 'locked box' 3D Printer back in 2014 (!) is beyond me. Digital inventory, print on demand, control what files can actually be recognized by the printer, sell infinite amounts of older and newer models as well as bits and sprues. Terrible neglect and short-sightedness on GW's part.

As a Horus Heresy player I've noticed DA MkIII shoulder pads went out of stock and now they are gone. Can't even find them through search. Hoping they are pulling them to replace with a plastic kit. Without any mention in the roadmap of elsewhere it is a bit concerning to see.

GW deleting models isn't usually so bad, but when they pull a lot out at once it's usually a sign of redesigning the army, which is usually when you'll have models you can't use anymore. I still have metal IG storm troopers that became Kasrkin... But those are gone too.

GW went from being a game workshop years ago. Back in the good old days they sold a huge variety of different products, and later you could still build a decent army affordably. Nowadays it just seems like 'modify existing product slightly and jack the price up'. They are literally pricing themselves out of the market. No-one wants to spend hundreds of pounds for half an army.

Sold my entire collection about a month ago and switched to Battletech. Haven't felt the slightest pang of regret. No more drip feed splat books, no more overpriced models, no more poorly conceived and completely unbalanced rules. GW squatted my twelve thousand points of pro-painted Tomb Kings when they introduced Age of Sigmar. Got rid of every bit of my WHFB stuff and I'll NEVER go back - not insignificant, since I had eight armies. There are less lousy companies out there and GW need to learn a painful lesson.

ideally if i was running a successful tabletop game company that for whatever reason had to run gws cyclic model, i think id get ahold of a recaster or 4, trade deal; you guys quite trying to clone our new releases and we'll send you the official files for the older ones we're clearing inventory of. links to the legends sheet for the unit , and a notice on our site that these units have been discontinued but are available here. (and knee cap my pricing department, we're selling a hobby game not a survival staple. a model kit shouldnt cost as much or more than a meal for a family of 4)

looking for Elysian drop troop on the internet has made me come accross various recaster of old GW model going back to the old days of OG Rogue Trader. It gave me a certain appreciation of what existed before. The range of the guard before was simply phenomenal. You had everything. It's a shame I got this late in the hobby and that GW burned me out from buying their product.
