I bought the AoS Paint + Tools when i got into 40k a month ago and chose it over the Citadel Essentials one as it has the Moldline remover and retributor armor pot and i do think its an excellent kit to newcomers

Yeah, I much prefer Retributor Armour over Balthasar Gold for a yellow tone metallics. Much brighter and leaning towards yellow. I honestly wonder why they chose to put 'Gold' in the name, given that it has enough red/orange to be more of a copper tone.

Just found your channel today, i bought the Nighthaunt paint-set last week. Me and my family have collected warhammer sets of the years, but I am the one who never really have painted a whole set. But this will hopefully be the time i change that. Im starting later on today with the paint-set

Huh, I thought I had responded to this. Sorry about the late response, but I am glad to hear that the video helped get you into the hobby and I hope your Nighthaunt turn out well :-D

I have a couple of videos where I do some assembly either as part of a project or to demonstrate how to build something, but in general I don't think assembling things is super interesting/novel, hence why I don't include it in videos. I may be mistaken about the amount of interest there is :-) Also I haven't figured out a good camera setup for filming assembly that is comfortable. I tried to make a video about assembling the Blood Bowl Snotling Pump Wagons, because they are pretty tricky, but a lot of the footage wasn't usable, i.e. bad angles, drifting out of frame, hands blocking the view. I occasionally build stuff as part of my Twitch streams, if there were specific things you were wanting to ask about.

Can the Tesseract Glow be used as Ork/Orruk skin color?
@SleepyWhatsIt3 жыл бұрын
I would probably not use it for Ork skin. It is a very bright yellowish green, so better for doing glow effects. It is also thin, like a shade paint, so it would be hard to get good coverage. I suspect that you would end up with radioactive looking Orks 😅
@yanomamo893 жыл бұрын
@@SleepyWhatsIt That would be a creative choice. But why is there no green in any of these sets? Its such a common color.
@SleepyWhatsIt3 жыл бұрын
I suspect that the sets are designed for painting the models that came in specific starter boxes and in general those models happened to not use a lot of green. These sets are also missing purple and orange. You are supplied with a red, blue, and yellow so it is feasible to mix those colours in a pinch. GW used to do paint sets that were meant to be a complete starting palette, but seem to have moved away from that. I suspect because they found selling sets for specific models or factions aligned more with what people wanted, i.e. beginners would rather pay less now for a palette that only covered the models they had.

Given that the new edition of AoS is out, and they have made the AoS kits website only, I am expecting a revision of the kits that will include Orruk models and paints. This is what happened with Indomitus and 9th ed 40k

Did you check your white pot? My white paint was all congealed into a single hard blob.
@SleepyWhatsIt4 жыл бұрын
I haven't checked this one, though I am definitely gotten that before with Corax White. Sometimes I have been able to save them with thinner and a ton of agitation.

HAAAaa, just realized i got fucked out the mold line remover in mine.... over all not a bad little set to get you going, the blue paint you get will only do about two indom boxes tho. Edit: just watched more of the vid, seems i got fucked out of more now too, did i get a older kit?
@SleepyWhatsIt3 жыл бұрын
There was an older kit for 8th edition, but I am not sure off hand what the contents of it was other then probably the paints were different, since A) some like Tesseract Glow didn't exist and B) the starter set was Ultramarine vs Death Guard.

They didn't include a green Paint in this, such a failure!!! And yes i agree with the reikland not beeing usefull either, nuln oil would have been much much better
@SleepyWhatsIt3 жыл бұрын
I agree that for a complete paint set, having a green, purple and orange would be appreciated. I assume with products like this, the product designer is given a brief of something like, needs to paint these specific models that we are highlighting and a target price point, so they have to make hard choices about what paints to include. I do wish GW hadn't gotten rid of their sets that were more geared to building up a general paint collection. But if I am going to be wishing for changes to GW's paint product lines, I suspect I am going to want them to change the pots first 😅
