So I kinda messed up the delivery of the Jaguar "joke". At first I say Jaguar as I normally do (Jag-whar) but of course Brits pick that apart because how dare anyone pronounce anything differently than they do... so I rub it in by saying JAG-WIRE which is even worse. But instead it comes off as me thinking Brits pronounce it as Jag Wire which isn't what I intended. Oh well. I just wanted to trigger some Brits, but instead it's just comes off as confusing. I'll get y'all next time though!

One note about Raiden Project: you actually can get proper TATE mode with controls properly rotated as well, it just requires a gameshark/action replay code to be used, but once you make a save after using that code it will retain the option as long as you don't go into the options menu and change it back until you use the code again

3:23 I... can kinda get the dialogue there. I believe that that's where Bat and Kenshiro first meet up after the time skip that leads to Hokuto no Ken 2. in Kenshiro's absence, he founded a group called the North Star army and, in a teary eyed reunion with the man who inspired him to be better, Bat tells Kenshiro that he can't wait for Lin to see that he's back, while Kenshiro comments that Bat has bulked up and become a real man, that he has the look of a hero about him.

On the N64 - didn't need much of a launch lineup mostly because you couldn't get a console :). I remember it being in very short supply for at least 8 months to a year after launch. By the time we found one for my brother there were already a few more games out like Star Wars, Wave Race, etc.

Only console I've ever lined up to get on day one (at like 1 in the morning no less), and it was extremely amazing to experiene Mario 64 when I got home and popped it in for the first time, especially given the dedication and energy I'd put into actually getting the console the moment it was available. I even sold my PlayStation just so I could afford to get the N64, and although I did actually really enjoy the PlayStation and some of its games (WipEout and Doom were real highlights for me), I don't regret that decision. Man, the joy I got out of my N64....

I paused grading projects for work so I could watch this... and seeing your extended focus on the PlayStation launch was *awesome*. Although I only bought two launch games on September 9th-- Ridge Racer (of course) and NBA Jam: Tournament Edition, it wasn't long before I bought Air Combat and ESPN Extreme Games. Namco sure had PlayStation development dialed in (thanks, System 11!). I still give the nod for my favorite console launch lineup to the Dreamcast. I dropped well over $700 on launch day, between the console, games, and accessories. I was working for FuncoLand at the time, so I didn't get to personally enjoy the launch at home like I wanted to... but the flip side of that was that I had the chance to play through (and beat!) Sonic Adventure and Blue Stinger at the store before the games came out! Thanks, as always, for your hard work. I've been binge-watching a lot of these videos and it's been a blast revisiting them while staying current when new content comes. @@Carsonj13 Fair. I wasn't really around for that launch (by which I mean wasn't really paying attention), but the cross-generation launch lineups do seem to take a lot of the hype out of new consoles in my opinion. When Dreamcast launched, I had reserved mine with a copy of Soul Calibur. That game got so much play from me and my friends that I don't think the disc was ever actually stored in the jewel case for the first 2 months.

Top Players Golf is a good game when you get the timing, after some practise it's not that hard to stop in the red zone, I rarely ever slice it. I got a Neo Geo Mini recently and it even plays well on the mini screen. I now consider it a nice contrast to Neo Turf Masters which is still one of the best golf games around.

Just a couple of things on the Neo•Geo. It was released here in the USA in December 1990. I was lucky enough to have saved up for the system and a couple of games. I got the Gold System w/Baseball Stars Pro on December 20th, 1990, along with Top Player's Golf. They also had released NAM-1975, Riding Hero, Magician Lord, and Ninja Combat, by the year's end. I loved Top Player's Golf & League Bowling. My friends and I would play those nearly every day, for the first couple of months. We got insanely good at TPG.

Growing up I didn't even know the Neo Geo was a thing. I was completely unaware of it, until later on in life when I finally heard about it on the internet. I never recalled seeing it in any stores, and honestly don't remember seeing it in any game mags. Guess I just always overlooked it 🤷‍♂️

Here in Brazil, the Master Syster came with Hang On, Safari Hunt and that secret maze game all in memory, not in cartridge. You had to buy the Light Phaser pistol apart and 3D glasses though. Because those memory game stuff, there were a lot of fake rumors about secret games hidden on it, such as Robocop and Ninja Turtles. All lies, of course, but I spent a lot of time trying to unlock them...

the Genesis release was perfect for 1989., and it was a beast in comparison to PC gaming or console gaming., the Snes release of course shows more technical power but also a difference in taste in 1991 arcade games at home was not the strongest theme like in the 80s

The Neo Geo was the PC Master Race of console peasants

Back then the PC was the peasant of the gaming world (aside from the Japan exclusive Sharp X68000). Here in the west the only computer that could rival the consoles was the Amiga, certainly not the PC.

@Benjamin Owuye Jagun I'd say that consoles were the master race and NEO GEO was the king of the master race. Just like today PCs are the master race and an RTX3090 is the king of the PCs.

The Neo Geo didn't really exist. Nobody had 700 dollars plus 350 dollars for one game. If you were a Japanese businessman with 75000 yen laying around in 1990, you could just pay hookers to spank you in a diaper.

As opposed to what, calling himself a South American? Of course his region is North America. However, he did not give his NATIONAL identifier. So if you were going to complain if he called himself an *American,* sorry, it still works as a NATIONAL (not regional) identifier.

@@corey2232 yes. United States is the only country in the American continents that has America officially in its name. So calling ourselves Americans is correct

I actually really enjoyed, and still do, Space Harrier 2 for the Genesis. The way the ground scaled really wowed me back then. It was the first Space Harrier game I ever played so I was never spoiled by the arcade version.

Hey Joe, this is your first video I've seen, and your showcasing of the games' music is much appreciated. Subbed! I'm also an easy lay for parallax scrolling, and the opening scene to SimCity on the SNES (11:55) had me gushing from withers to brisket back in the day.
