You should do a franchise exclusive episode of looney toons games. (Looney tunes collector alert) on gameboy color needs to get some exposure, its literally one of my favorite games ever, yet gets no recognition. Its basically an open world game where you unlock tons of characters, they each come with a special ability and attack. These abilitys function as manual triggers and progress the story when used in the right place. For example bugs can go through rabbit holes, daffy can swim, the old witch can fly, Marvin can shoot, taz can spin and destroy, ect.. once a character is unlocked they can be switched to at any time in the game. There are secret characters that arent even needed to collect to progress yet still come with a function to interact with the world. There must be 30+ chracters to collect and play as, and the environments give you the opportunity to explore your favorite locations and see how all the characters interact and co-exist with eachother. Theres no arcade elements or forced linear level progression, you can go where you want and do what you want, kind of like link to the past.

Also, fun fact, I used to be on a message board that was sometimes frequented by developers who worked on the Jet Moto series. They were working on a new Jet Moto that was progressing well until Sony came in to check on it's development. They played the game and were frustrated by how difficult it was. The developers explained that they were trying to make a game that played like Jet Moto 1, and that the challenging controls was part of the appeal. Apparently Sony informed them that people didn't want challenge, they wanted to win. Then they left and a short while later the project was canceled.

Banana Prince 2. Crackout 3. Dropzone (technical Masterpiece) 4. Elite (technical Masterpiece) 5. Hammerin‘ Harry 6. New Ghotsbusters II 7. Over Horizon 8. Konami Hyper Soccer But you should definitely do SUPER TURRICAN, as it was created by only one Human alone (ok, there was this guy from Danmark who helped with music or so). This was Manfred Trenz, the creator of orig. Turrican on the c64 (where is was already a design Masterpiece). He did the NES port and the game is unbelievably good. But be sure to run it in 50 Hz, as it runs waaaay too fast on a US NES.

For Left in Europe 2, how about Monster Max on Game Boy? I seem to recall you're not a fan of isometric platformers, but to Monster Max's credit, it seems to be one of the best ones ever made, from the same team responsible for all-time classics like Batman and Head Over Heels, and it has an absolutely BANGIN' soundtrack. I believe there are a number of Asterix (and/or Obelix) games that never left Europe, too, and pretty much all of those are supposed to be quite good -- and I think every single one of them (for the lower-bit consoles, anyway) has a soundtrack by the incredible (and highly underrated) Alberto Jose Gonzalez, who may be one of the best chiptune composers of all time. Seriously, if you've never heard of him, look him up -- you'll be glad you did. He's basically a self-studied chiptune prodigy who was heavily influenced by the works of Tim Follin, which should tell you everything you need to know to know that he's frigging amazing. (He also sometimes goes by the pseudonym "Joe McAlby," so if you see that name in the credits, that's him.)
@Wyrdwad4 жыл бұрын
Whoops! I just realized you covered a bunch of the Asterix games in your first Left in Europe episode. Sorry for the repeat recommendation! Still, there are a bunch more you could potentially cover (there were SO MANY Asterix games!), so... I guess the recommendation still stands, kinda? ;) Monster Max definitely still stands, though! As someone who LOVES isometric platformers, but only discovered this one even existed like a year ago, I gotta say it looks absolutely outstanding. I'd love to see it covered in more detail.
