I loved playing Brave Fencer Musashi. You can take enemies' powers to solve puzzles and to give yourself an advantage in battle. The story was fun and ridiculous.

They certainly do but more so for the big games but in general we know to turn to Kotaku or Waypoint for the big investigations. But that’s journalism in a nutshell it’s all about time money and resources and companies have to pick and choose their battles of what to latch onto. IGN has so much mindshare they wanna cover that they probably don’t allow a set team to just investigate especially since they’re located in San Francisco.

I didn't play God of War past the first level and I only played Red Dead for 3 hours before my brother had to return it to Redbox... there are A LOT of games out there that I would love to invest time into and I would consider myself a very hardcore gamer. More often than not, these guys are journalists before they are gamers. They didn't go to school for games; they went to school to be journalists.

Matt Poalise You are describing the average casual gamer. I don't mean that they are casual because of hours invested, but how deep they delve into gaming. Those same people you describe used to play exlusively BF, COD, etc. They typically don't consider themselves much of a "gamer" even though they play 6 hours daily. There's a huge group that partakes in those, same with DOTA/League. They play those genres and literally never touch anything past them. I disagree a bit about the journalist portion. Some of them do not have journalism degrees. Some are gamers turned journalists, to be factually correct.

I've a recollection of a few people making games for the PS prototype, so perhaps indie devs could make games for the older consoles and the developer publishes them. I very much would like to play the 8 bit Sonic the hedgehog, however as far as I can tell it's trapped on the original Sega, while Sega continuously re-releases the 16 bit version the version from my childhood remains unplayable. The AI companion question was a pretty good question to ask, it now seems such an obvious question in hindsight.

Re-listening to all scoops is wonderful. I'm even able to tolerate Justin's mind numbing amount of the word "like" being used. But one thing that is so aggravating is that he is "too cool" to care about 20 questions, and asks a "goofy" question, which never is funny- which makes it not goofy. Here's an idea! Sit out during 20 questions, let someone else do it that actually gives half a darn. We get it, you're too "like" cool to care like about like it. So like sit like out.

Honestly, Red Dead 2 only gets less interesting for me as we get closer. I might be in the minority that the original was boring and the story was a chore to fet through. They made a huge world with not too much to do.

I explored the game quite a lot. It was more of the same, but not more of the same fun. And I like westerns, but this was a story that dragged out over what felt like an infinity when it could have been much more streamlined. Carriage races that are required for progressing in the story? It wasn't that fun. And to answer your GTA question, GTA5 had a lot to do, GTA4 was more empty, just like Red Dead. The only difference was that you could get from A to B a lot faster. But both worlds were very bland. Gun was a better game, and even Call of Juarez Bound in Blood was a better western game. But like I said, it is my opinion. The only fun part of GTA is the online, and I don't even like online open worlds that much. TL;DR - Red Dead has stayed as my most disappointing game, even though Breath of the Wild almost took that award, though for different reasons.

The physics of Breath of the Wild was superb. But once that was over, there were more annoyances that were more than the good parts could make up. I got both BotW and Horizon Zero Dawn at launch, both similar, but very different games. BotW had a much better physics engine with the weather effects and interactivity between things, but Horizon had a more appealing story and a fun gameplay loop. I think the main thing for me in a game is to keep me wanting to dive into the action. Bayonetta 2 has a terrible story, but its a fun game to just button mash. Horizon has an awesome variety of weapons that affect the dinobots in different ways, Red Dead has a miniscule crosshair for combat, without any real change in that (if they make a 1st person mode similar to GTA5, this argument will be invalid, I am just talking about the original), and Zelda had breakable weapons that you never really care about other than whether or not you can actually fight. Steel should not break after using it 10 times, just saying. lol

Evan M well, though i had to get used to the weapon mechanic on botw, i ended up enjoying it a good bit. It made room for strategy. You couldn't just dive head first into battle without first checking inventory. Gave it a survival feel to me. At times, you may have to run away from battle bcuz of weapon shortage. Made you feel like you weren't the most powerful being in the game, which was a good thing to me. Although i feel like the master sword shouldn't have been bothered. Link is known for his shield and master sword. I mean i get why they put a limit on it bcuz it would've made the use of any other weapon irrelevant. But i think i would've been ok with the norm. Maybe starting off with weaker weapons and then eventually graduating to the master sword.
