After Remington was sued over advertising to kids there won’t be real guns in any mainstream games. No company wants to go bankrupt like they did. Daniel defense is currently fighting a battle for their guns being used in a shooting. It’s insane to blame gun manufacturers for insane people and their crimes.

15:00 myth busters covered underwater shooting as well. Full powered rifle bullets tended to do worse in water as the higher amount of energy created more friction & caused the bullet to pretty much dissolve a few inches into the water. Pistol caliber tended to do ‘better’ due to lower power, meaning lower resistance/friction in the water but still didn’t get very far at all.

@cdburner5911

I believe its more about the velocity and the change in density from air to water than the energy specifically. Well, also the structure/strength of the bullet, cross sectional area, coefficient of drag, and so on. I think though, it boils down to, when entering the water, the faster the bullet, the more force is exerted on it, and at some point, the force is more than the bullet can handle and it will cause the bullet to break up. Also, rifle bullets are much longer than they are wide, so when they tumble, their surface area goes up substantially, where pistol bullets are usually more or less similar in diameter/length.

@@genitalgrinder5704 It's more like a gunpowder-operated semi-auto harpoon gun if you look into the design. It's super cool, but it's not really anything like a traditional firearm. It really shows why guns don't operate underwater and why divers use harpoon guns instead. Because realistically that's all that actually works. And the underwater gun would be really awful at being a gun above water.

I like what they tried to do in this game with the platforms, and that you can unlock attachments and challenges for other guns in the same platform without having to use them all. However with all the fake weapon names in this game, it's driving me nuts when I unlock something mid match and I don't even know what weapon it's for because it's some fake name. Usually there's always a few fake names in cod, but I can get used to that. Like the stakeout, or the Oden. It's not just "Lachman sub", it's actually names that are easy to remember and fit the gun, and they stood out more because 90% of the weapons were named, like the AK 47 or the mp5. It was just much easier to keep track of. In mw2 it's the other way around, there's a handful of guns with real names like the m4, then all kinds of fake names that sound like dev name tags tbh and not good weapon names, makes it too confusing.

The guns being mostly redesigned variants of existing ones was deliberate. Both for legal and marketing reasons, they changed the lore and established their own in-universe weapons manufacturers so they could give a spin to the weapons while still using the main design characteristics.
@dragonbornexpress5650
@dragonbornexpress5650 Жыл бұрын
I think the main problem with the fictional manufacturers is this: They lack any real...presence in-universe. What I mean by that is they are really only referenced in text and have their logos shown on their products, but they lack a physical presence in the game world. It'd be like if Blume in Watch Dogs 1 was purely only a presence through CTOS, or if Nudle in Watch Dogs 2 only made a presence through Nudle Maps/their cars; They'd lack any actual presence in the universe they reside in. (Doubly so for Nudle since they were deliberately meant to be a parallel universe version of Google right down to the exact same headquarters building.) I'm not saying that the fictional manufacturers in Modern Warfare 22 need to have physical headquarters that we can visit; What I AM saying is they need more of a physical presence you can actually see and hear in-game: Commercial billboards, hiring advertisements, corporate memos, maybe an address for one of their regional factories on a computer, stuff like that. Give them more of a tangible presence, or maybe create some intriguing story ala Hannibal Weapons Systems from HALO so they feel like tangible entities that you can genuinely see as being a thing in-universe rather than just a simple way to avoid licensing. Imagine seeing an ad for Tactique Verte where the company spokesman talks about the manufacturer's founding before World War I playing it up like it was some kind of grand adventure for the company's founders, and then later tries to hide how their main factory in Belgium was taken by German soldiers during World War II in order to seemingly avoid embarrassment; Wouldn't something like THAT add so much more presence and character to the company in-universe? Imagine something similar for Lachmann Meer, but THEIR ad doesn't hide how their founders used to be employees for Mauser and Rheinmetall during World War II even though they are clearly ashamed of such a fact; I'm sure you can already feel the impact from such a concept. It helps that both of these ideas not only tie into real world history, companies, and locations, but sort of parallels the backstories of real world H&K as well as FN Herstal, especially with the latter when comparing FN Herstal to Tactique Verte.

@@dragonbornexpress5650 I disagree. How often do you see television ads for gun manufacturers ? How often do you see billboards by gun manufacturers ? Especially in other countries ? The most I can see is maybe have someone reading a guns/ammo magazine but even then it's not like you would have time to read it when on a mission while being shot at. They are establishing their own brands, show don't tell, and you see a lot of that in the gunsmith.

Oh, the AR57 is a real gun. They're not at all very common but it was released as a civilian alternative to the PS90 if you wanted something in 5.7 but in a more conventional platform. There's a pretty famous picture from a few years ago of a guy in Venezuela using one during the riots that happened but beyond that I don't know of any other instances of them being used in combat.

The P90-ish gun seems to have the same lower receiver as the old Magpul PDR concept. Edit: I think some company used to make a kit for pistols to be able to fire underwater, I think it was H&K? The bullets still won't go very far but at least the gun will cycle.

The one problem I had with the rifle-to-pistol transition is exactly as Mr. Ferguson pointed out. When hitting the reload button the game slings the rifle and reloads the pistol. In my opinion, when reloading the game should holster the pistol and reload the rifle, automatically switching the player back to the rifle. That way this pistol swap option not only offers a unique playstyle that is different from the traditional method, but also uses the technique as intended.

As far as I’m aware, the mobile version of Warface actually had the emergency pistol switch in their game. If your current magazine ran dry and either you’re still targeting an enemy or had your finger on the firing button still, the player would automatically pull out their side arm to continue firing on what ever it is they’re trying to defend against. Warface Mobile, if it wasn’t clear already, did come out before this MWII

Names and minor changes are due to licensing and not paying for weapon likeness I'm pretty sure. For MW2019 Kriss even said it would be no problem to license Vector. But the problem is money, and I don't think they want to directly support gun manufacturers either.
