Mostly it's because in lore a lot of your stuff is developed by your private army, so it has inspo from real guns but clearly deviates a lot. In a meta sense, you often have to license the gun's appearance from its actual creators - it's why you see real-looking AKs in AAA games but often get a knock-off lookalike in less funded ones. So since the game's lore started before Konami could secure those rights, the universe of MGS doesn't have them either - and has an explanation!

When playing Metal Gear Solid games I always thought the mechanic of suppressors wearing out make no sense, but then I saw Forgotten Weapons video about Knight's Hush Puppy suppressor for Beretta M9 meant for pilots where the suppressor has set of wipes that seal themselves after bullet passes through them making it extremely quiet for couple initial shots until they eventually have permanent holes from shooting through them so the suppressor stops being effective. I believe this is how WW2 supressors worked. Rubber wipes or something? Defo a nod
@quinnmarchese63132 жыл бұрын
@@owenhughes2653 the welrod for sure is made that way, it would degrade after an op or 2 and then you would need a new one if you needed the integral silencer to actually silence the gun

I figured the WU Pistol was supposed to be a play on the Ruger Mk2, specifically the AWC Amphibian S, which was an integrally suppressed Ruger Mk 2 used by the special forces in the 80s

I kinda wish they showed him the triple barrel launcher after the double barrel one. Also, the water gun has a lot of niche uses beyond being a joke pistol.
@user-qg4st8ih1d Жыл бұрын
It’s genuinely quite shocking how many random details they put into the water pistol despite it being a joke weapon. You can actually even use it against bosses, which gives you a bit of unique dialogue in case of the man of fire. Funnily enough if you stay at it for 20 minutes or so you can actually finish him with it, in spite of what Miller tells you. It also works on the Skulls!

Really enjoyed this. I love the weapon design in MGSV. It's clear to me that the folks at Konami who did this had a real affection for Cold War weapon design. Couple of points worth noting: Some of these optics are meant to be an old school aimpoint, but with a magnifier. The game lets you mount the equivalent of an ACOG inline with a reflex, which I thought was nonsense until I read US SOF did that at some point in the 2000s. Some of these weapons come in different calibers when you get into the "tech tree" so if the caliber seems wrong, maybe there's a variant there. I thiiiink the SMGII had a similar buttstock ot the Macht-37.

4:01 It’s pretty obviously based off of a Chiappa Rhino, what with the firing from the bottom of the cylinder, square cylinder and overall very bulky design. It’s funny though, that when it recoils, the muzzle flips straight up, which is what the Rhino’s weird barrel on the bottom design is there to prevent. A barrel on the bottom pretty much means it recoils straight back into your hand.

Look for Trigun anime or manga, namely main character revolver.
