While they are loosely in the same genre the attraction of this game is massively different from helldivers, and it is still in early access so it will very likely improve a lot in the future. Maybe eventually it wouldn't reach the level of success helldiver have (and to be fair, few games can) I can still see this being a good game a lot of people will enjoy if it play into its own merits

If anything it might be the opposite, I'm willing to bet the tremendous popularity of Helldivers 2 led people to go watch Starship Troopers for the first time and discover that this game exists. And the amount of people doing that and actually buying this game probably outnumber any sales if Helldivers 2 didn't exist.

@@JonPL compared to the devs HD2 who have the backing of the industry Juggernaut Sony. don't call this boot leg HD2 as its a different game entirely, yes they have a similar core gameplay style, but HD2 is 4 play Co-op and an no base building is mostly TPS. it is a good game but SST:Ex is a bit different and aims for a different audience.

@@hjalmarthehelmetman Helldivers 2 have servo assisted suits, basicly internal exoskeleton under the armor, one engineer armor states that one have to be careful because while wearing it you can easily crush bones while hugging someone or breaking off a door from its hinges

Actually its good that Helldivers 2 came out before this was completed. The devs now have some fire under them on what works and a clear direction. There was a bunch of nothing from them for awhile, and I am sure they are quite excited to apply a new direction to the Helldivers formula of success. My hat is off to them and I wish them the best. They have a blueprint of what people absolutely love and one of the IPs to do it. Helldivers devs mentioned that they took a lot of different science fiction elements from various things they love.... one of these IPs is right here. Go for it devs! Make a game we all can't wait to play! Go your route but take queues from that magic sauce that made helldivers a game we just keep coming back too! The damage models of the bugs, the individual parts that can be blow off, the animations that accompany the missing limbs, the new attacks they make from said gimp mode... etc. Put the work in, and you will have a great game on your hands. Your animation team needs to step it up, and it has to feel buttery smooth... but we will be here, waiting when you do it!

Would need to give it a try, but this just doesn't seem to have the same immersion Helldivers has. By that I mean details and more refined gameplay elements (interactions, visuals, voice lines...) Like I'm sure it's fun, but after playing HD2 this looks like a 2015 game.

My headcannon would always be: Starship Troopers as the main infantry force Helldivers as shocktroopers/ ODSTs And when the planets finally liberated, corporations like Deep Rock Galactic would swoop in to harvest the planet's natural resources and handle the "leftovers"

The funny thing is the Mobile Infantry of the Starship Troopers books are kinda what the Helldivers function as, except with beefier power armour. The 1995 movie made them look like standard infantrymen but they're more specialised in the books just as Helldivers are.

So those wondering this came out right before hell divers and trust me it was VIETNAM !!! Not only was the medic busted class able to fight hordes and self revive while reviving litteraly you would die in seconds due to overspawn of plasma and molten lava falling onto your team ! ! The one reason alive in hell divers it because of starship troopers extermination plus team kill was also there along with mobile nukes ,turrents ,traps ,but no artillery so was hard af with barely a team of 4

STE and HD2 have no comparisons other than they both are Sci-Fi based unlike the many comparisons people try to make out. One game is a base-building survival FPS with a Starship Troopers theme and the other is conquest galactic war based with TPS. They are both fun in their own way, but that's where the road ends.

Does it really look amazing though? I mean, it doesn't look bad, but it does have to compete with HD2 right now. This trailer may not do it much justice but just from a visual standpoint, I'm not really impressed and I don't like the whole class thing being in there. I do prefer the more open, 'pick what kind of guns/bonuses' you want to equip and go have fun thing. Some of the explosions in here looked very underwhelming too. i dunno.

HD is a game with 4 players with alot of firepower for them But for us , 16 players with infantry weapons fight horde of giant bugs just like movie . Unlike HD , we can play with friends without worry number
