That beginning part with John Hamm was a perfect intro to the episode basically explaining the nocebo effect and the idea of an illness becoming an illness that turns into a full blown infestation of the mind in society. And the final part where he asks the question of what else in our reality is actually a "disorder". Fucking mind blowing.

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but minotaurs are meant to be in mazes. "The Minotaur was the offspring of the Cretan Queen Pasiphae and a majestic bull. Due to the Minotaur's monstrous form, King Minos ordered the craftsman, Daedalus, and his son, Icarus, to build a huge maze known as the Labyrinth to house the beast. The Minotaur remained in the Labyrinth receiving annual offerings of youths and maidens to eat."

You see that same monk in the group that buried Farouk, and he looks the same. So he hasn't aged in around 30 years. Farouq's body seemed to have a physical effect on the world. The monastery had grass and trees around it when they brought Farouq in. But when the monk left, the trees in the monastery were dead and the valley they're in was barren and lifeless. And Division 3 must have worked on some other weapon against the Shadow King. The Shadow King was defeated around the time when David was born and David wasn't revealed as a mutant until a year ago. So Division 3 could have been working on a weapon during all that time.

They did talk about the small tar creature when it's in hatchling form and briefly discussed how it was delusion creeping into ptonomy's ear. I think it was evident that it is just more tar from Ptonomy's full grown delusion that has trapped him in the maze. Does everyone still think that the tar hatchling thing is still the young form of the minotaur? Because I'm starting to think they may be related but not the same thing considering the minotaur isn't leaking tar everywhere like the other creature. Just a thought.

I honestly think Farouk wasn't the cause of the chatter virus. If you look at the way the monks scene is shot, its sorta similarly shot to the cheerleader scene. I feel like the begining part of the narration with Jon Hamm actually tried to explain to us how the chatter bug came to be in the Migo monks. the Migo monks thought that the shadowking was trying to break free, and the nocebo effect drove them to madness. On a side note, i don't think the shadow king caused the landscape to die, i think the Monk was just trying to hide the location of the body. Remember Farouk tells david you can't just invade the monk's mind. The monk is showing David what he wants david to see. David isn't tapping into his memory. Otherwise he would know where the location of the body was already.

When everyone was losing their minds over Farouk, maybe he saved the remaining ones from killing themselves by forcing them into their own mind mazes. Which is why he was always around wherever the shadow king popped up. I dunno man, I keep coming up with far-fetched theories and this show keeps proving me wrong and I fucking love it

David shirt theory: the red=good, green=bad, David's shirt is red lined containing large green portions inside. Are they telling us looks like good David on the outside but don't trust what's going on inside (or in his mind)?

Carrie was the only person besides David who wasn't infected and he's now the inside version of the Carries, so maybe he wasn't infected because female Kerry was representing the physical half of their body, so when male Carrie disappeared maybe he joined with her to either heal her mentally from the inside or perhaps now their both stuck in their shared mind maze together, which they can both overcome as a whole due to their mutant ability of sharing two minds in one body.

A few things: 1) There have been moments this season that seem designed to make the audience directly question our sanity. In the opening of S2E1, as Jon Hamm describes the maze and asks if you can see it, the bottom right side of the screen desolves from black, to a maze pattern, and back again. In the same episode, you hear the PA announce the symptoms of infection, including "repetitive noises," which is said twice. (Also, repetitive noises are featured heavily this season). In S2E3, the first title card says "Part Contagion (next line) Five", jumbling the words. There may be other examples I haven't noticed. 2) In S1, David sings "Rainbow Connection" when he has been compromised by Farouk. In S2E1, he sings a slow-mo version of"White Rabbit", which on its own is a treasure trove of madness and surrealist motifs, but also suggests that he may be, once again, susceptible to the Shadow King's influence. 3) You raised the question, "Is David still mad?" As we know from the comic (and the show), he is literally schizophrenic. In the show, his psyche was shared with Farouk. In the comics, each of his personalities has their own power(s). We've heard him a few times this season arguing with internal voices. I'm VERY hopeful that we'll get to see the true nature of David's powers soon, and uncover why he is called "Legion" for a reason.

Personally I don't think the Shadow King is being morally ambigous at all. He is unequivocally evil. Instead he was battling on a Moral level instead of like who has the bigger mind power contest of last episode. This was basically a skilled debater employing the Rogerian model of debate excellently. After all David's definition of living life is fundamentally different to Farouks.

Okay first of al, They established last episode that red and green are swapped-they said “green is good” while pointing to red, and “red is bad” while pointing to green. Second, I found an Easter egg in this episode that you missed-in Melanie’s maze, it wasn’t Adventure or Zork. I did some digging and discovered that there was a text adventure called “Madness and the Minotaur” which had a maze and a Minotaur. It also was one of the most difficult to finish, because while you had to collect treasures to complete it, each thing you found was linked to another object, but there was no in-game clue or signs to tell you which object went with which other object. You couldn’t pick up the object you found unless you already had the key object with you. All of that stuff fits in with the themes of this season!

Throughout the show anything in red light or red in general has been tied to the shadow king the cow symbolizes a holy God like animal in some religions and it being in red in that one scene symbolizes the monks people worship the shadow king like a god with the monk knowing the truth

Also, can we talk about that monk? I think he was a mutant. He survives whatever went down at the monastery, walks the earth to find Division 3, infects everyone with a mental "virus", knocks David out by "ohm"ing at him, gets the kids to follow him around like Pied Piper, overpowers Vermilion & Fukuyama, and ends up on the ceiling of their room. Even Farouk warns David about him.

S2E2...The scene before David visits future Syd, David is arguing with the other personalities in his head. It's easily missed because Cary is talking to Keri inside of her own head. Jump to future Syd scene...Syd tells David she thought she'd "never see "him" like this again". I think one of the other personalities takes over David and kills everything, so Farouk is their only hope to stop him.

Such as stopping time ala time sync, combusting or salting people with Cyndi or johnny gamorah. To go even further we see his mind evolved a defense against the chattering you which we see at the end of a game( end game) or it could be sally sunshine

Actually Buddhism dosen't have any special value towards Cows. It's Hindu Religion that have special respect towards Cows.
