​@@elcidleon6500 For sure, first the pendulum wars that lasted if I remember correctly like 90 years, then 6 months after the war ended E-Day happened and a good chunk of humanity was wiped out in just the first day and the COG had no choice but basically nuke their own world to save what they could and slug it out with the grubs for 15 years before saying fuck it and sinking their last city. Then the lambent show up and threatened to turn what's left of humanity and got through by the skin of their teeth. Yeah they had some 20 years to rebuild but the swarm show their ugly heads with the ability to turn humans into more swarm forcing humanity into another bloody war of attrition. Honestly if I had to live through all of that I would just laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all.

The thing with Dom, is that Gears was in the peak ofshare screen coop. From CoD to Halo, everyone were playing with buddies. So many of us started playing Dom instead of Marcus as a main character, since everytime we would play we would play him. When we found Maria and Dom plead Marcus to help him, it hit hard. We knew the only reason he was still standing was because of Marcus....but his sacrifice...it was like loosing a brother, loosing the main character for many players. Gears moving without him, left a void. And they kinda tried the same thing with JD and Dale. I think it was too soon. By the time we get into Dale as a character they off it.

I remember playing gears 1-3 with my brother, we either played co-op or took turns getting killed and it brought a few good memories; shocked when the carmines kept getting killed (I thought they just kept making more to just die), shocked when kim died, almost depressed when dom died, wondering what they did to make ty off himself (i didnt know at the time because we didnt have any comics). When gears 4-5 came out we didnt play co-op and he didnt have as much time for gaming so I finished it for him, letting him know when the cut scenes came so it would be paused till he got caught up, it was a really happy-sad time getting all these memories, thank you for getting into the lore of a game I know helped strengthen my bond with my brother.

I see a lot of comments in here saying that gears 4 and 5 “fell off” or are just straight up not good games. They’re different, not bad games. I was 6 or 7 when I played gears 1 and I’ve been a fan of the entire series ever since. 4 and 5 included.

Tbh the only “bad” one is 5, and that’s because the story is quite frankly nonsense and the choice is extremely stupid and manipulative, and the skiff really just sucks Judgment is fine, definitely one of the weaker ones though My issue with 5s story pertains to it just being a reset, Marcus deserves some damn rest for once, and the Locust just straight up being back now kind of ruins the sacrifices made during the original trilogy. I also REALLY HATE the choice. The game has you spend the majority of your time with Del, building him up, so you like him and don’t want anything bad to happen to him. Except the other option is Marcus Fenix’s son, a character who is barely present in this game but was the PC in 4, the son of the icon of the series who is a man who has lost so much in his life (even if you didn’t read any novels or comics, you know he lost his father twice and Dom just by playing the games). So the choice is either dude you spent the whole game with and you like being around, or the generic protagonist character who you only care about because of his relationship to THE main character of the series. It’s cheap, and we all know it’s Del that’s canonically going to die, so I don’t get why they gave you a choice.

I immediately knew that Kait was Myrrah's granddaughter when I saw the Locus Symbol at the end of GOW4. I didn't read the comic, books or the DLC's but when I did play them after all that, I understood more. The story is interesting and insane.

Well, I was gonna go to sleep, but... Edit: The Maria scene gets me crying every damn time, I remember annihilating the game after that scene, for Dom. Feels like that in games seem to be so far and few between these days, it sucks.
