The Forest VR has some of the most immersive experiences you can have in VR. Something about the scaling and lighting of objects is insanely... real? do an experiment, in art lessons they teach you to squint your eyes and the loss of detail will alow you to focus on the image in a different way. If you do that inside the forest VR you will see just how real it looks. It almost becomes fully 3D.

@sociallyresponsiblexenomor7608Ай бұрын
Same. Some games I lag in because of steam's resource hogging, but with Virtual Desktop the game runs smoothly. Also with games running things like Vorpx or uevr; Virtual Desktop is a must I couldn't even functionally move and had like 10 fps in Mother mod for ALien Isolation- but in VD? Perfectly smooth 75+ fps. That huge of a difference.

@@thegorillabeast4500 VD is damn good. Doesn't work well with a VPN though is you have one. Have to disconnect first. I recently had a terrible issue with VD where I was only getting about 17mbps and all games looked like cr@p. I tried everything. Reformatting and reinstalling windows. Reset my Asus router (AX6000) and nothing worked. Then I discovered the issue. The iGPU in my AMD 7700X cpu was being used instead of my RTX3080. Hey, Matteo, I both hope you're right about VR's upcoming growth spurt--and look toward it with some level of trepidation. It's awesome that we'll finally be getting more games that we, as "early adopters" can proudly point to as only the beginnings of what VR can bring. But, as happens when any technology goes through an explosive growth period, we can only hope that the "developers" (some of whom will undoubtedly have big corporate names) and suddenly VR-focused "creators" who see VR as a way to pull in some quick cash won't start popping out of the woodwork with their enthusiastic recommendations that people buy what will likely be little better than shovelware. That's as good a reason as I can think of for why our budding enthusiasm should, perhaps, be somewhat tempered. Anyway, great video, as always; I greatly appreciate your takes on what VR is doing--and your caution, when it comes to the chance to hop fully on that hype train.

Once VR/MR headsets move away from being headsets and transition into lighter-weight thick glasses, hopefully by Late 2029 with Quest 5 and potentially Nintendo & once again Sony jumping in and dipping their toes in the mix, I think that is when VR/MR gaming will finally take off in popularity. Nintendo has the franchises to make VR absolutely explode. Mario Kart VR, Metroid Prime VR, a 3rd Person Zelda(and top down) or Mario in VR, Pokemon Snap VR, etc. But unfortunately, Nintendo's Switch 2 will most likely have the power of a PS4+, and as we all know, VR is an absolute power hog because of stereoscopic 3D and needing to utilize higher resolution for both eyes and whatever else. A Quest 4(Oct 2026) with wireless connectivity to a power console like the PS6(Nov 2027) if Sony decides to bounce out of the VR race, while Nintendo holds off a little longer, would be the ultimate and most successful combination. PC will never be a true VR player in town, due to too many friction points(anti-plug and play, etc) Right now it's Quest 3 & PSVR2.

My only issue with most VR seems to be it's difficulty in registering leg actions, such as kicking, without it costing insane amounts. Currently, though, I am considering a quest 3. While the HTC Vive is making improvements along the full body issue, it's still way too out of my price range.

I don't see VR taking off this year just yet. Or for a while really. There need to be some very critical improvements before it takes off and I don't see that happening for a few more years. Quest 3S isn't gonna make a difference much like how the Switch Lite didn't make much of a difference. There isn't all that much demand for a cheaper product that's significantly worse. I think a price drop to $300 for the main unit would increase sales far more than releasing a half-assed $300 version that isn't even remotely comparable to the big brother. But even that probably wouldn't be enough to make VR take off again.

I think changing the shaders to cell-shaded for Hitman 3 was a wise move because often ports of flat PC games like Bulletstorm to native Quest look terrible with such aggressive downsampling of texture maps. When you got a game that has native 4k textures going to Quest, the devs are either going to spend the time re-shading and re-texturing every single asset in the game with custom painted lower resolution texture maps with less complex shaders or they're going to just downrez all the 4k textures to 1k or even lower(what most decide to do) which always looks like garbage. Most devs will not allocate the time and budget required to redo ALL of the texture/shader work(think Robo Recall on Quest 1 and how crappy that looked with all the procedural polycount reduction, flattening shaders and texture map crunching)

Currently Virtual Desktop blows steam link out of the water. This is due in no small part to the heavier weight steam open vr/xr implementation vs VDXR. Being able to run DCS in openxr without the overhead of steam is nice. The pass through options in VD are built in and work well, hand tracking works very well, and the tracker emulation is great. The biggest differentiating factors for me are the ability to use 10 bit av1, codec and bitrate selection, which result in the best image quality vs airlink / steam. Same goes for using VD in desktop mode. Multiple virtual monitors and the hand pass through make it easy to use non-tracked mouse and keyboard for productivity/configuring mods etc, and it’s amazing for playing 2d games with low latency without needing to use steam theater. Best $20 I ever spent on VR.

Is just a thought. But I feel the devs of Zenith, could try to turn it into a single player game, or make a single player version, with everything they made of it, so far. I know it was made as an MMO in mind. And it be like asking to have World of Warcraft or Monster Hunter Wold, each made into a single player game. But in a way, there are single player versions of them. They just don't play the same, nor would they. All I am saying is, one guy, going by Royal Skys, said one of his games didn't do so good. So he decided to sell asset packs of his game assets he made for the game. And he made vastly more by selling the assets, than he made by selling the game itself. Zenith may have done OK as an MMO. But they still own all the assets, worlds, and stories to that game. They could reuse it all, and possibly make a killing, by turning what they made, into something different, and yet the same. The up side to possibly selling more copies from what they have, as a single player game, is they would not have to support the cost of keeping it up as an MMO. As the devs of Palworld had found out, that the upkeep cost of running an MMO version of it, is a lot, and made them unsure if they can keep paying that cost, to keep part of it as an MMO anymore. All I am saying, is the devs of Zenith should not toss out the baby with the bath water. They can still save something of it, somehow. And if they did make a single player version of it, somehow, I would get it. I would.

Not to downplay your own issues, but I'm not sure that's a problem for a majority of people, save the super sensitive people like yourself. Personally I have never been motion sick, despite trying very hard to induce it with VR, simply because I wanted to understand the plight of those who are sensitive. I know that it was a bigger issue on older headsets, and maybe they don't need to focus on improving accomodations for sensitive users, and just need to keep improving the screens and lenses, as less and less people report motion sickness issues as the technology improves (resolution, refresh rate, lense clarity, fov and immersion)

The quest 3 brings the most value but if 400 is too much a cheaper model should be announced at the end of the month. When you say console, is it ps5 or Xbox. You can play Xbox game pass on quest when you travel. Another cool option
@CesarVelazquez-h7uАй бұрын
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 thank you so much and I’m a gamer so I have Xbox and Ps5. So far I’m leaning towards the quest 3.

I'm gonna go tomorrow to get an updated eyeglass Rx and then update to the Quest 3. Too much cool stuff happening and it is wild 'cause not too long ago there seemed to be some issue if VR was even going to continue forward.

You're a bit 2-3 weeks late on that Steam Link 'news' there. Thought they had actually improved stuff since that beta update.
@TeronRedoranАй бұрын
Wish they'd make steam link for a wired connection. Minimal feedback, less battery issues, and if it would work with wired it would cut out the oculus app's performance issues.
@Gamingwithmatteo311Ай бұрын
the wired connection for quest still relies on compression and unfortunately can still be a resource hog

06:20 will steam link allow me to play games that are on my pc from anywhere on my mq3 as long as I have internet connection?

You have to be on the same network as your pc running steam ie home network.

Let me squash your hopes and dreams, no device will let you do that in a way that's actually going to feel any good. The amount of data sent back and forth and the latency to send that data would be so large. It would be motion sick inducing.

I vouch for the Kiwi comfort battery strap, it’s extremely comfortable, durable and charges well. I got it with the charging stand as a combo and saved some $

Does steam link have SSW? it's super helpful in some games
@dubourg4Ай бұрын
My main problem with Steam link is that it has no reprojection. No ASW, no nothing to help if you can't hit the 90FPS. And Sometime, my 3060TI can't.

I just wish I could play Resident Evil 4 VR on the Valve Index and other games like that. Having all VR games available on all VR platforms is a huge issue for PC VR players

Is true. As much as I love VR, and VR gaming, for me, some are just better on a flat screen. For me, that be Minecraft. It is fun in VR. But I prefer it on my 2D screen. When it comes to looking at 3D models, or exploring game worlds, or just chilling in VRchat. I prefer to do all of that, in VR.

I am really looking forward to play behemoth. But I also think that VR must take off now. Subsidizing is not a cure for a dysfunctional market - at least it is not a long term solution.

I think the Hitman release date was mistimed and I think they’re just throwing it out there. There’s lots of negativity because of the graphics combined with far better looking Batman which will raise expectations and I think Hitman can’t compete with that. For myself, I grew up with the original Hitman games, Blood Money being my favourite. Those original games did not have good graphics even for its time, but we didn’t care because of the fun sandbox. Hitman: Absolution was the first time Hitman game had good graphics and it was shit. But now every game has to have cutting edge realistic graphics.

My Grandkids love the Q3 that I bought each of them for xmas as we can all log on and play together, had I been stupid enough to buy an Apple Vision, it would have cost me well over $30K just for the headsets and nothing else, where as for less than the price of one Apple Vision, I could buy Six Quest 3's with accessories and games, it's also why I sold my Kawasaki Pole Ski and Bought a Yamaha FX-SHO a few years back as one was fun for one at a time, where as the Cruiser was fun for all my Grand kids at once, with towing toys and Skis as well as wake boards and three or four at a time could sit onboard, depending on size and age :) as my youngest grand child could sit in front of me and help drive and steer :). Fun for more is far better than one person being ignorant. The only headset I am looking forward to is the Q4 and I hope it's as much of an upgrade to the Q3 as the Q3 was to the Q2 :) as well as backwards compatible and able to run PC games natively or somehow help a lower spec system play A level games at a decent frame rate.

Since moving to the east coast, I pick up on accents a lot more. I could be wrong, but I think it's north eastern. My wife says things like time and on very different than I do being from the West Coast. She says it more like, "come oin"

If you had to make up a list of games, for all the upcoming brand new users that don't want to jump directly to the most recent titles but wish to experience the progression of the last few decades. What game would you put on that list chronologically❓

I recently installed Fallout London on my pc. Played Fallout 4 VR with great joy, though Fallout London looks great, I miss the immersion of the VR version and don't really enjoy it as much as I would if it would be in VR. That said: about 99% of the games I have, I wish they were in PCVR. I'm a 3D person and like to see depth.
