Gamma Ray- Armageddon REACTION!!!

Kai Hansen, the vocalist/lead guitarist for Gamma Ray basically created that sound you've heard other places. He's one of the biggest influences on that style of European power metal. Check out the first few albums from Helloween (especially Keeper of the Seven Keys Parts 1 and 2) and Iron Savior for more of him. He's great at writing songs like this.

Did she listen to the actaul walls of Jericho version. And yes kai helped pioneer that sound. Including the vocal style as it was on walls on Jericho kai first started singing in the cleaner vocal style before kiske even joined helloween but it was on gamma rays land of the free Album that he got to fully implement it. But technically ralph fully implemented it on gamma rays first album heading for tommorow in ways kise never did and could at the time on the keepers albums. Mainly due to bieng young and inexperienced at the time

I encourage the person reviewing and listening to this track to listen to the 2002 live skeletons in the closet version as that Is the best version of this song and really showcases kai's vocals in ways the studio version does not. That version really helped me develop my voice back in 2002. 2003 . And certainly beats the 30th anniversary version with frank beck butchering the vocals on this classic and rarely played classic. Yes I have had some beat me up for saying that but I don't care and I took offense when a KZbinr dared to say frank could sing better than me. Assuming when I could and can match kai and even rob Halford which is very difficult to do. And did many times back in the day.

The artwork is created by Derek Riggs which is the same guy who used to make the artwork for Iron Maiden as well. :) Kai Hansen truly is a legend, and his legacies, Helloween and Gamma Ray is one of my all time favorite bands.

I was at a Gamma Ray concert when I was 15 (19 years ago) and they played Ride the Sky as an extra number. This blew me away and I was completely hooked on metal after that. I've branched out to other genres over the years but I find myself revisiting Gamma Ray every now and then and I still get surprised at how high quality there stuff is to this day.

What makes them unique compared to other bands? Well, it's Kai Hansen, the singer/guitarist of the band, who created the genre. Other bands are the followers of him more or less. So, as the originator, he's unique. :)

They do have a sorta generic sound but the way they execute it is just the best in my opinion. Aside from the echoes of Maiden, Priest, Dio, and maybe Scorpions -this sound they’re demonstrating that you’ve heard elsewhere- those other bands essentially got it from these guys first - Kai Hansen’s a king of power metal rooting back to the formation of Helloween
