This performance of Nessun Dorma by Luciano Pavarotti was in 1994, with the L.A. Philharmonic orchestra, along with the L.A. Music Center Opera Chorus,conducted by Zubin Mehta. Pavarotti was not sick at the time. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2006 and died on September 6, 2007. This music is from the opera titled Turandot. Pavarotti was the only Italian who was not a politician and was give a state funeral. His voice was sheer power. Goosebumps!

Luciano Pavarotti died of pancreatic cancer in 2007. He always had the ability to convey emotion even if you didn't understand the words. The music and his voice was all you needed to become a big fan. Everytime he never fails to give me the emotional chills when I hear him sing.

Something about his voice always gets me. Pavarotti was the only thing that my mother could play that would calm me down when I was a baby/toddler. She would turn his records on and I would just lie there captivated and quiet down immediately. I've always had a soft spot for him. Just something about that voice and power.

We have a small opera house in our city and I've been to a few performances. Its amazing to hear the singers and the orchestra (which in our theatre is under the main stage) with no amplification, no microphones, speakers, nothing but them. The audience being quiet and paying attention. It is amazing. I'm not a devotee, more into prog rock and class8c techno but if you are able to, go and have a look.

If you analyze that vocal with pitch software. you'll see that ALL of that vibrato is IDENTICAL. Just one aspect of this vocal master class.

Pavarotti was not ill here. His expression at the end of the aria is his natural reaction from going "into the zone". He literally went to another place emotionally and vocally while in character. He got lost in the performance or became one with the performance. Many artists understand what I mean by that. A lot of times, an artist can experience a sense of timelessness when that happens. The one guy was correct when he said his expression looked like "climax". That's closer to what he experienced as an almost out-of-body sensation. Music is transcendent, and that's what you see happening to Pavarotti.

This performance was in 1990 at the World Cup Final when he sang with “The Three Tenors” and they truly captivated the world! He did die of pancreatic cancer in 2007, but in this performance in 1990 he was healthy.

People who say this *isnt* his climax face... knew nothing about Pavarati. Sure he could be overcoming some pain in this performace. But if you watch any of his other performaces he will do similar things... that performance was infront of a huge crowd... he was most definitely feeling it. He was also known as a very sensual man 😏 so I have no doubt hes feeling that in the loins right there. People who want so say "well he was actually in pain there so this is amazing because he pyshed through the pain and thats the only thing he was feeling at that moment" can eat dirt for all I care lol 😂

During this performance he sang with two other tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carrara and I believe it was during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl if not then it was at the world Soccer championship. He died in 2007 of pancreatic cancer. This performance was in the early 90’s or late 80’s. The three tenors toured together for a fair number of performances. I think he had a sore throat and managed to perform the entire concert. If you want to see the full performance look for it on KZbin. He was the best of his era! The orchestra conductor was Zubin Mehta also a world renowned conductor ❤

Pavarotti did pass on from cancer but it was in 2006 or 2007. The expression at the end of his song that you saw was relief. The man was such a humble person that he never would believe that he had actually performed as perfectly as he wanted to with his soul. 🤗🤗 He almost always had the same look at the end of each performance because when the audience let him know how good he had done how great he had made them feel he was so relieved that he had actually done what he wanted to do. Which by the way for him music was like a sacred trust, and a gift from God that he had to do his very best. He NEVER -NEVER wanted to disappoint the people that came to see him. 🥰🥰 Music to him was his heart, his emotions, in fact it was his very SOUL. !!!!! In fact he was never happier than when he was singing because he sang with his whole being. Yeah that was funny because he never really thought that he was really really singing that good until his fans let him know at the end of his songs. He will always be remembered as a very sweet, very human humble person. ❤️❤️ He was definitely one of those great ones that there will only be ;"" only one in a lifetime."" Yet he also enjoyed all other kinds and different ventures in music. He would have charities for different peeples or little towns and he would request modern singers to come sing because he wanted to sing with singers from other types of music. For for instance to name a few The godfather of soul James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Bono, Sting, Barry White, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and many many more. !!!!! Like I said he respected and loved all kinds and different genres of music and singers. He once said in an interview that all different kinds of music was worth more than a diamond or gold that was as big as the size of your fist. MUSIC. " he once said " gives you all kinds of emotions for your Heart and fills your Soul. But like I said he was diagnosed with cancer a year before he died and passed on in either 2006 or 2007. BUT for years before that he had been sick several times he had some health problems and some physical problems that bothered him a lot through the last I believe it was 10 maybe 12 years before he passed. I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that but with me 70 years old to be honest, I'm doing good if I can remember exact times for a lot of things.😅😅 But these are some of the things that I DO remember about him. You can tell just looking at the man that he was a bit of a hedonist. ;) Good food, good wine, good women - that was his life. Everyone knows it and it's been well documented. What he was feeling at that moment no one knows, but all interpretations are valid and I wouldn't worry too much about people feeling some kind of way about it. There have been several uber popular tenors, and they are all great, but this man had a certain something that was special, a certain magic that the other greats just didn't have. You can't explain what it is, but whatever it is, he had it.

Luciano Pavarotti died of complications from cancer in 2007. But when it comes to singing opera, they have to do it with empathy for what they are singing, just like an actor does to be believable. This is how an opera singer must sing and I have learned this partly from the Swedish opera singer Rickard Söderberg and from Shara Brightman. There’s a great performance with two others, Placido Domingo and José Carreras, known as The Three Tenors. Excellent concert. Also there is a group of tenors, called IL VOLO. They are your age (or maybe younger), from Italy. They will knock you out. Opera is the ultimate classic but I think you’ll have more in common with the crooner generation. Sinatra, Martin, Davis, Williams, Como, Crosby, etc. Open your mind. KZbin can breathe life into decades of unheard music by your generation.

the reason his face looks like that is that he has literally no air in his lungs. you have to understand how opera singers sing. they don't sing from the throat like pop singers. they have a ton of air in their lungs and open their mouths and modulate the sound in their throat and mouth differently than pop singers

Although this was not LP's latest performance, I agree with you that he had a type of Petit Mort Ending. LP was extremely talented BUT in my opinion was a Lyric Tenor ( Beautiful Light). But the Calife was written for a Tenor with a wider Range to add "weight " or gravitas to this arias. At the end, LP was struggling to achieve that range. He imitated his favorite Tenor, Franco Corelli. Glad you are exploring different types of music and introducing us to musicians & performers which are new to us ! Thx

I've thought that the modern musical genre with the same storytelling as Opera is rap. I've wanted a Rapera for a little time now. The other thing this performance "lacks" (said VERY LOOSLY) is, since it is right into a mic, the projection that is amazing from Opera singers. The CharismaticVoice has a sit down with someone where she sings and they are blown away by the power. Wish I knew the name of that YT video, maybe someone else will. I try and point people to actual Operatic performances when I try to introduce Opera. Doing that into a mic is impressive, but doing the whole thing to a very distant mic (a stage away) and still projecting over and orchestra is otherworldly.

Pavarotti brought opera to the masses. He actually did a film in the 80s it was a comedy fantastic they have a fight scene with spaghetti hilarious. He brought 2 of his friends on a worldwide tour. They were the top of the game awesome tenors. Called the 3 tenors went into the top of the charts for weeks. He sang the opening song at the beginning of the world soccer event. Now we have a blind Opera singer absolutely stunning who is at the top. Andrea botocelli. Look up Botocelli and Sarah Brightman. Singing at the annual at the proms. 2021. It will give you goose bumps. Time to say goodbye., you will be speechless. Our proms are broadcast to parks across Britain and North Island. This is a an annual event hours of brits singing along prob a million. Love your opinion so thank you ❤
