Garage Door Insulation Part 1

Insulating an aluminum garage door with a US Energy Products kit purchased from Amazon.
I didn't intend for this video to be so long, but as I listened to it, I talked through a bunch of tips that I learned while I was doing it. This project will be in two parts.

Did you follow the directions about putting the tape on the door? It says to put on door frame, then to pull the release liner and let tack up by letting it sit 24 hrs or overnight? Curious if that is necessary.

I wonder how well the R value is compared to other solutions that fit flat against the garage door surface vs the air gap. Also, would there be any benefit of using both methods, probably overkill but I like the clean finish look of this roll material. I would think the solid foam would also add some rigidity to the garage door. Would have to adjust springs to compensate for added weight. Speaking of weight, did you have adjust your springs afterwards?

From my research, the R value of the product that I put on the door was better than the R value of the products that fit up next to the door. I can't remember the actual numbers. I think that if you did both, you might have to compensate for the extra weight with the spring. I did not have to adjust my spring. the weight of this product is pretty light and was negligible to the door spring and opener.

I'm startinig my install now, thanks for the walkthrough on how to do it, BTW do you realize that the lift cable is attached to outside of the bottom roller on each side of the door? if you took out all of the bolts you could have been injured and you would have had some job putting the spring assembly back together.
