I live in galveston tx. i dont know if they allow metal as finished edge in valleys. we are in hurricane area by gulf. Just asking

I’m at the peak of my valleys now. Curious how you nail the ridge cap at the top of the valleys. My nails would want to land right through the valley metal but I’m trying to avoid landing nails through the middle of the valley. Is it ok with lots of mastic as long as higher shingles cover all nail heads?

Hello? I'm not a roofer, and I don't know much about roofing. However, the valley metal you showed that was being chalk lined was improperly overlapped. The lower valley piece was overlapping the upper valley piece.

The finished product looks great. Do Huntington and Newport require metal valleys or do they allow open as well? I prefer metal but was curious about requirements in beach towns.
