Imbes are very tough. I am growing one, a seedling, in Alabama as an indoor/outdoor plant. It can not only handle climate-controlled indoor conditions, it actually can thrive in them. I had new growth this winter. I am aware that getting fruit from it might be a bit difficult since I only have one at the moment, several years away from fruiting. However, the leaves are so nice looking that I believe it makes an attractive houseplant as well, even if I never get it to fruit. I have a Lemon Drop Mangosteen and an Achachairu, both seedlings. It is hard enough to get any Garcinia seedling if you live in temperate areas outside of Florida, much less an air-layered cutting or grafted plant. Your grafted Garcinias are the only ones I have ever seen for sale, and the people who win those auctions have more plant-buying money than me. More power to them for the depth of their rare fruit obsession (and depth of their wallets). And congratulations to you for being able to turn your extensive expertise into a successful business.

Very interesting! I've never seen a fruit and flower that grows on the woody part of a tree!

You're awesome Adam, ha ha ha... I currently have an Achachairu and a regular Lemon Drop. Hope to get a superior one from ya, one day. Happy to say I own a few of your other creations, as well. Thanks for doing what you do. 🤩

Please do a video on Grumichama. I just ordered a 4.5 ft one from Hawaii. But I want to know more about it. And how to take care of it.

I have seedlings of both lemon drop and superior lemon drop mangosteen. How many years will it take to get fruit from seed on them?
@DillonPeterson3 жыл бұрын
I just cut into an achacha seed, and it's full of a resinous, yellow, oil. There's gotta be some unknown uses for the chemical. I'd use it as paint, or a dye if nothing else. I can't find any literature on the subject, but it's worth looking into.

That’s interesting. There is so much e we don’t know about the Amazonian fruit that’s new to the western world. Have you experimented with it? My trees are too young to fruit just yet I have about 2 years left

Trying to understand how these trees fruit. If money was no object would it make more sense to have nothing but male/hermaphroditic plants, females, or a mix? Is this the kind of thing the big commercial growers in Australia for achacha would take into consideration (for example)? Hope that makes sense. New to this stuff. Your videos are great.

So wait it is androgynous when a male sends out a female flower or fruit? I incorrectly called my Papaya a hermaphrodite. Still had to take him down, still bitter at the fruit flies that found my two beautiful plants. :( Always get an education with your videos Adam thank you!

Dude why do you have so many Garcinia spp.? 😳 You remind me of Crazy Dave from PvZ. Except you're more normal.
