Now that is the most ridiculously packaging I have ever seen for a model train, But I got to hand it to USA Trains for the amount of detail that goes into their locomotives!

The smoke is probably to simulate the steam heating equipment for heating the carriages.

Two years ago, I know, but you can touch the pantographs. The "DANGER - DO NOT TOUCH" printing is scaled down from the full sized locomotive, which would have 11,000 Volts going through the pantographs when up.

@ShellShock1967 The engine weighs almost 80 pounds and has to be shipped by a UPS type shipper. How would you package an item this expensive to get to it destination? The think the word for packaging like this is prudent.

That all depends upon it's voltage and current requirements. You can run anything on a battery if you have a big enough battery
