I found your story about trying to knit hitting home. My mom was left handed and tried to teach me to crochet. Once I decided to try again as an adult, I found I remembered all she told me. She did enjoy watching me crochet once she couldn’t do it anymore. She has passed away now and that time we spend together means so so much to me.

My award-winning grandma taught me to knit about 40 years ago. I took a week off work and spent every day with her. When she died, my uncle made sure she had some knitting in her casket. I'm left-handed, but I guess she taught me the right-handed way. I do lots of things with my right hand because it was discouraged back then to go against the norm. Oh, you've got me thinking of my grandmother's baked fruit pies. Before she married she was a housekeeper for some wealthy folks and the stories she'd tell. Oh my.

I just shipped a few fig tree cuttings off to you! Most people do not realize we can grow fig trees in our areas! Granted, we grow them in pots and store them in garages or barns in the winter, but the fruit are so worth it! The normal varieties found commercially are somewhat bland. I sent you two varieties, a rare berry fig called Black Madeira and an early producing honey fig called Improved Celeste.

That made me smile! My grandma was left handed and I’m right. She taught me how to crochet and I can remember like yesterday her trying to do it right handed so that I would know the correct way to hold everything. For the stitches she would tell me to just pretend I was looking in the mirror 😂. I’m no expert and I haven’t made anything in years but when I pick it up I can picture sitting on her bed playing with yarn while she made something beautiful.

I'm doing this w/ niece right now. She's a lefty. I try my best to crochet w/ my other hand, but its been a struggle to say the least! Also, tried w/ a friend. Her a lefty, me a righty. She knits, I crochet. We were each going to teach each other. I thoight if I mirrored it for her she would be able to get it. She got so frustrated though, she gave up & wouldnt even bother to show me how to knit!🙄🤪

KBB Chickens fight, especially when they are new to each other, to establish dominance and a pecking order. After the order is established then they mostly settle down to just doing dominance displays or moves, usually nothing serious, regularly to maintain their place in the pecking order as it can change over time. Occasionally I have to play the rooster for my flock and interfere if any of them start going a bit too far.

Interesting as we raised all kinds of birds when I was s kid - Silkies being one of them. They were so docile & followed you around like puppy dogs. In fact I had a black one named Licorice that was my pet & that thing would come & cuddle up next to me if I sat down. Would even let me hold it & rock it like a baby (on it's back!). The white & buff ones in the flock were all very tame as well. We must had been lucky as we had several diff kinds of Chickens & Bananas & dont remember any of them fighting w/ each other. Now some of the pheasants could kind of be jerks!😄

The pillowcases you're working on are beautiful and you inspired me to try to learn to crotchet. When I think of planting fruit trees, I always remember back when we bought a house with four huge established apple trees. They all ripened at once and I couldn't keep up with baking apple enough pies and making apple sauce. Soon, tons of apples fell on the ground and started to ferment - it brought tons of flies and was a stinky mess. I had to have my dad rescue me. He arrived with huge containers and hauled away the rotting fruit. That was it for me with fruit trees. Looking forward to seeing that rooster in your garden!

I think the far side yard that is long, straight out from your kitchen door would be a great mini farm. You could put your orchard, a pumpkin patch. I loved our pumpkin patch when I was a kid. Big sunflowers, to eat seeds for you and save for the birds to have in winter, a big strawberry patch (love jam), blueberry and raspberry bushes. I could see Benjamin having a great time in that area.

Renkloda Ulena was a plum of my childhood. I even invent a tool to get them safely off the branches I couldn`t climb and reach.

Great video! I love tulips! I cant wait until I can get the landscape set up at our new house. We just bought our first house on a half acre back in Oct. and I am so excited to get digging lol. Thank you so much for sharing another great video as always Laura! 🌸🌱🐞I love to crochet, my nanna taught me a few years back and it's my winter hobby as well. I like to be productive until the moment I close my eyes too lol Have an amazing day! I always enjoy your great videos!

Several years ago I planted 3 small serviceberry in my yard and all they did was attract japanese beetles. They were only pretty while blooming and as soon as the flowers were done so ugly with the beetles eating the leaves. Removed them after 1 year. Now have a yellow ribbon arborvitae and peonies in that area, that looks so much prettier. Love the trees Laura picked out, fresh peaches, plums and apricots are some of my favorites and you can't get any fresher than picking your own. YUM!

Awesome choice on the Santa Rosa plum! I grew up with one of these and like you have amazing memories with my dad. We would go outside and do yard work, take breaks, eat those or in the winter, blood oranges (living in my parents house and still eating off the same blood orange tree, plum died because it’s next to an orchard road and got knocked over by accident 2 years ago 😕). Whew..done! Thanks for the inspiration! Getting my acre back to “nature” 😁

Good luck with your orchard, Laura! I like to knit a project every winter, also! I've learned, and re-learned, how to do certain stitches on KZbin. It makes learning so easy. Your pillow pattern looks very pretty! 🧶
