What a FUN project to do with the kids. Benjamin has most definitely been absorbing the arranging gene! Please don't ever apologize for the 'abundant' way you decorate. We are all in different places in our lives and have different styles, tastes etc and although I could never afford to buy that many pumpkins and gourds where I live (they are super expensive) I do truly LOVE to see it done on someones step. So stunning and it makes me smile 🎃

I whole heartily agree about Thanksgiving. It's always been my favorite Fall/Winter holiday. No pressure, just family and friends getting together having an unstressed simple time to enjoy each other. It is too bad that Christmas is so commercial and so horribly expensive now, sometimes it just isn't fun. The walkways looks fabulous what a beautiful color.

@@vickieyoung7122 I took advice from my mother and cook almost the entire meal weeks in advance and freeze it in freezer bags to just put in slow boiling water to heat (turkey already sliced, stuffing and gravy) on Thanksgiving Day. Tastes wonderful! I even freeze my pie dough and homemade filling separately to bake the day before. I make coleslaw night before and that just leaves the mashed potatoes to make on the holiday. The turkey always looks pretty on a Thanksgiving table so I take a photo 😜. No one in my family misses it. They just want to eat it.😂. I have no stress that day! Thanks mom!

Okay, this makes me have to vote no on adding handrails back here. The side steps are so perfect to decorate! Seeing your family at the pumpkin farm was so fun! Benjamin thinking to leave his sword in the truck, and making a train with the carts, Samantha Grace wanting to taste the corn - Daddy's "no no no no no! Laura, you win the "Super Mom" award! Shopping, watering, planting, decorating - all while videotaping the action. Benjamin is quite the helper and his addition of the lilac branch was so sweet. Seeing Samantha's smile as she mulched Russell was the frosting on the cake in this video. I can't begin to imagine if I had all of this activity planned for one day and videotaping as it happened. Not too much - absolutely perfect!! The lanterns in the beds instead of on the stones is just right, giving a glow to the plants. The walkway looks great and more symmetrical. My understanding of polymeric sand is that it if too much is allowed to cure on the surface of the brick, it will adhere to the top of the brick & create a haze. The brick pathway is beautiful though, and hopefully there’s a solution for cleaning them. The walkway and plant display is stunning!

That's my understanding as well. I hope it turns out the way she is wanting. We have used some on large projects and the brand we used directed to make sure any excess was gone before the watering to set it because it would just set on top of the stone.

You can't beat Brunnera for a great looking non-invasive but very hardy perennial for the garden. I especially love the blue flowers that come out in very early spring. Love how Russell enjoys being pampered with a bark nugget treatment from Samantha :)

When Benjamin stopped to help clean the lanterns, it brought back all the memories of my 20 year old when he was a little guy and always so eager to help Mommy with every little project. Also....make yourselves Christmas to also be easy going holiday, few years ago when my mom passed (she passed month before Christmas after three years battling cancer) we all agreed that we'll stop buying gifts to each other and turn Christmas into being with each other and spent some quality time instead of all hustle and bustle of holidays. I know, for people with kids, kids do expect presents under Christmas tree and we shouldn't take that away from them but for adults, presents are really not necessary, there's birthdays and anniversaries to give presents to your loved ones and they don't come all once so they don't become burden like buying presents for all. Now we give to each other small things, things you know that person love,box of chocolates, box of winter tea blends, pack of socks, mittens. Last year I done all my Christmas shopping online, in about half hour and for some 40 bucks. Make your life easier and let's take care of each others and not about presents that most often you don't even need or necessarily like what you get, or you don't have idea what to buy. Life is difficult enough, let's not complicated it even more. Love to you all 🥰
